Hi All,

Can anyone help me find CHARLES CLIFTON after he left home please.

Charles Clifton was born abt 1855 in Warboys, Huntingdonshire.

His mother and father were JAMES & HANNAH CLIFTON.
Siblings were James, William, John, Florence, Emma, Joseph

He was living in Warboys in 1861 & 1871 but then disappears. I am trying to find out who he married and whether or not he went on to have a daughter DOROTHY CLIFTON.

Well I have asked about this subject in a previous post a long while ago but it gets complicated so I thought Id start again. Apologies

My Great Grandmother was Dorothy Clifton

She married Frederick Brocklehurst 1913 in Christchurch, Attercliffe, Sheffield

On her m.cert her father was Charles Clifton, Joiner/Tool Maker.
(I cannot find a Dorothy with father Charles in censuses)
This is a dead end as far as I can see

Her witnesses were Nellie Taylor and Walter Stainforth.
In the 1911 census I found Nellie living with her husband Joseph Taylor and lodger Walter Stainforth.

Nellie Clifton married Joseph Taylor in 1898, Sheffield

Nellie Clifton lived her unmarried life with her Grandparents Issachar and Sarah Lomas in Blackwell, Derbyshire. Why this was I don't know.

Nellie's mother was their daughter Mary Lomas who married William Clifton in 1876, in Chesterfield and seemed to lived happily with husband and other children while Nellie live with her grandparents.

Nellie's Father William Clifton was born in Warboys, Huntingdonshire.

In 1871 William is living with his mother Hannah Clifton and siblings in Warboys.

In 1861 William is living with his father James Clifton and Hannah Clifton and brother CHARLES!!!

Is this where Nellie and Dorothy are related and is this FINALLY her father CHARLES i have been looking for all this time?

I just need to trace Charles but this is again where I am struggling :-(

When was Dorothy born? Do you have her birth cert?

I dont have a birth cert atm as I am just trying to see if I can connect the 2 people together to find a family.

According to her m. cert she was 22 when married. But of course this and her fathers name could be lies. I just dont know.
