Good afternoon, could anyone help me, i have my gt gt grandads birth cert which states Joseph Mather 16-july-1861 4 court Cable St Liverpool, father William mourning coach driver mother Margaret Mather formerly Bagot & wa reg 20-aug-1861. I have recently joined Ancestry & have found baptism record which states Joseph Mather born 11-jun-1861 bapt 25-jun-1866 of Cable St Liverpool father William (labourer) mother Margaret which would be the most reliable birth many thanks Carol. |

HI Mel i don't think the 1841 is right as the marriage in 1838 states grooms father Mark Mather . |

You may very well be right about the date for when the 'penalty' came in - It was just something which occured to me as an explanation, but probably not correct at that time. |

Maybe it's one we will never know, i am pretty sure that they are both about the same Joseph as it fwould be to much of a coincidence fot their to be 2 Josephs with parents William & Margaret all living in Cable St |
