To Everyone who has helped me through the long wait, to discover a little more information about John Woods 1886 from Higher Ince, Wigan and his father a James Woods 1854, from Little Neston, the Greengrocer!

I have finally obtained the 'Death Cert' for James Woods 1854 and he was indeed a 'Greengrocer' at the close of his life......so there we have it. He was first a 'Miner', then he became a 'Publican' and finally he finished his years as 'Greengrocer' at
Chestergate Stockport. He died in 1906. His death being 'Phthisis Exhgaustion' (think this was another word for T.B.

His son The John Woods was born 8.9.1886 at Petticoat Lane, Ince.
When I got his death cert I found the poor soul had died of 'shock due to severance of spinal cord and aorta resulting from being run over by coal waggons whilst engaged in shunting operations on the 'Cheshire Lines committee railway' on Portwood coal sidings, Stockport. What an awful end to a life.....
Wonder where one would find the write up to this accident? which newspaper. I have tried the stockport chron but nothing mentioned. Perhaps in those days deaths on railways was commonplace.

Thank you all very very much for all your attention and help and suggestions to my query. Every sentence you questioned me about my ancestors was read, and digested and am indebted to you all. If I can help any of you in the future, you can contact me. I would love to repay the gesture. Regina :-D
