Hi there, just wondering if anyone can help me? I received a marriage certificate today for a great, great great grandmother. I think i have managed to work out who her mother was and so on but now I'm really confused as the father is a Henry Bernard Chalon and apparently he was an artist but when i googled him it said he only had one child whereas on here he has loads. Can this be the same person? Any help would be fabulous if anyone can be bothered! My great, great great grandmother was Emily Caroline Watson born 1848 in london, chelsea and i then think her mother was Frederica Rebecca Chalon? If yes is the father Henry Bernard Chalon the artist? That's the bit I'm confused about?

Not really i am working from my great great great grandmother who was Emily Caroline Watson. It says her mother was Frederica Rebecca Watson whose maiden name was Chalon. (she married Edward Coats Watson in 1831.) It says Frederica's father is Henry Barnard Chalon but i'm just not sure if it's the artist or not? Hope this is making sense!! Thankyou for looking.

Hey Lynne, thank you very much for looking all this up for me. Can you see why I'm confused? wikipedia says there is only one child but Maria A seems to be the sister of all the others? Also when looking at records on Frederica and Edward's marriage one of the witnesses is a Maria Anne? Can't really read what her surname says though!

Just can't seem to go forward on the Henry Barnard Chalon until i know it is definitely the same one. So far all i have is the Henry whose was the artist. Do you think Wikipedia could be wrong? All the children have the same mother who was called Sarah and married to Henry. It's beginning to hurt my head!!! Haha.

You should use caution with Wikipedia, once upon a day any one could change or add information to pages. Don't know whether that is the case now!!!!!

Been following this with interest.

Chris Ho advised that his Will is on NA site. It really wouldn't harm to purchase it and see if there other children are mentioned.

Wikki entires are submitted, and yes there are errors. Its such a shame that it is the default search result.

Possibly why one daughter was called Frederica:

(b ?London, 1770; d London, 15 Aug 1849). English painter and lithographer. He was the son of a Dutch ?migr? engraver, Jan Chalon (1749-95). After studying at the Royal Academy Schools, London, the younger Chalon began to specialize in sporting and animal painting and was appointed Animal Painter to Frederica, Duchess of York, in 1795; he later fulfilled the same modest function for both Prince Regent

Thanks so much all of you. Yes i have downloaded the will but at the moment i cannot not understand much of it!!! Writing is a bit different from now! Haha. I have seen that Henry had another partner, wife? called Sarah whose surname was Wilson. They i think then had son called Henry too which shows that he must have had other children ( i think!!!) Soooo confusing!!! Thank you all very much just hope i get to work it out soon!

Seems the James Ward R A, mentioned in Death notice of Sarah, was a famous Artist too. Google brings up a lot of bits and pieces.
