IGI has the following entries: Pool F Davis, aged 16, born Canso, Nova Scotia, Canada, arrived St John, New Brunswick Jan 1924.
1930 census USA Ridgefield Park, Bergen, New Jersey Pool F Davis, 23, married, Canada English Father born in England, mother Canada English.
I've found that they relate to the eldest son of Alexander Millar Davis (born Leyton, London or Wanstead, London 1882, died Yarmouth, USA 1947). I'd love to know who Pool Field Davis married, did they have any children, and what was his occupation? Is he yet another telegraphist?
He had 7 siblings, Francis Cook Davis born Nova Scotia 1908 and Alexander Millar Davis, born Nova Scotia 1909. The others were probably born elsewhere - maybe the US? Charles Mervyn, 1911, Dora Patricia 1914, Muriel Blanche 1917, Ross 1919, and one other, apparently still living, no details given. Any information very gratefully received! Thanks.

You're welcome. I just noticed "uncle" Robt's pob=Newfoundland (I think - it's hard to make out).
Newfoundland was a separate country until 1949, when it joined the rest of Canada - so that's why he would have a date of immigration., The first transatlantic telegraph cable went to Newfoundland, specifically Hearts Content on Trinity Bay. The original cable station's now a historical site, and full of the old equipment - the cable runs under the road, and if you cross over and stand on the beach, you can see the frayed ends vanishing under the road - you should drop in next time you drive by.
PS - when I come to these boards, usually first and last things I do is click on the "My threads" link in left margin, a few cm down from top. This has the time and boardname of the last post anyone has made to a thread I've posted on.
