Can anybody help me please? I am trying to find information on Richards Travis c 1868 who marrried an Elizabeth or a Dianne Elizabeth. Richard was born in Prescot Lancs. Need confirmation of marriage and/or birth. it is understood that Richard had a son also called Richard who in turn had a son Leslie. Any help would be appreciated Di (maternal line Travis)

Vague family information. Place of birth is fairly firm as the family have stayed in the area but the year of birth could be a little off as descendants died young so firm information is difficult. Hence looking for marriage information. If I can get that, then we can get copy of cert and prove other info too. Like fathers name and maiden name for Elizabeth. No idea where married, assumption would be Lancs. Tried FreeBMD and Ancestry, going to change the date range as I have just found a Richard and Elizabeth, with a Richard son in Prescot on 1891 census. year of birth different, but then that is normal for Census information isn't it? If you look at the site I gave you (FreeBMD), you'll find the marriage. There's only one listed in Prescot.

I thought there was something about the dates that didn't quite add up - in fact there's no sign of a birth for the older children, Henry and Mary, at about the right dates in Prescot. But... there are a Henry and Mary Birrell. Looks as though they were Elizabeth's children by a previous marriage or relationship, and they took Richard's name when she married him.

Births Sep 1886 Travis Richard Prescot 8b 748 I wonder why Richard and Elizabeth didn't get married until 1890? I doesn't look as though either of them was already married. The 1886 date of birth doesn't tie in with the censuses, though.
