I have just cleared the bit off the decking down to the oil tank. You could' nt see there were paving slabs down there for grass and big weeds which I sprayed a week or so ago. I have a whole trailer full that came off of that one small piece. The docks had been in there forever and had pushed the paving sideways.

We all have our differenet ways of doing things the way they suit us. It would be a sad world if we were all the same. :-D

I'm like you AnnG and have lists and start packing a few days or even a week before. I like to deal with the things I can so there is less to remember and think about nearer the time. Like you first underwear goes in, then nightwear and little slippers I take and some basic clothing, camera equipment and charger, books etc. I move clothing I plan to take to one end of the wardrobe to decide last minute. OH only packs on the morning we leave!! I think it's easier for men though as they don't have all the different colours and choices of what they wear. He tends to be more efficient with everything, including his work if there is a deadline! lol.

It sounds like the Wrens gave up on their nest then Mel. It's good the Swallows have eggs though. The Magpies here were still bringing food, but were looking thinner themselves I thought today. It must be hard work keeping the hungry babies fed. You have been busy with the strimmer lately, keeping the place tidy. I hope they bring the right size oil tanker for you tomorrow. Asda still haven't managed to unblock me from entering their site due to the cloudflare security they use, but are sending me reminders about starting my next order. :-S

That was a good saving on your plants Vera and it all helps. I like the small Dahlias and have a few of the hardy Fuschias in the garden. I must get out there and do a bit in the morning.

Good morning all Just got in 5 minuted ago, started trying just after 0600 but only tried every 15 minutes I am thinking that maybe GR poers down overnight to save money and it is just the luck of the draw how long it takes to overcome the error message. Not a problem I have other things I can do while waiting.

Ann yes it does seem we are alike with our pre holiday packing. I also have a list of things that I need to do before going away. I have always been a list person. and yes I am similar, I have had top clothes hanging in the spare room for several days so I can marry up colours to make more than one or two outfits out of fewer basisic clothes. Plus the mix of hot, cold, wet and indifferent weather clothes. :-D

and I have to take a small case as with three of us small cases and several squashy bags are easier to fit in the boot of the car.

Another nice bright morning at the mo a few biggish white clouds in the sky and its 14 degrees and says mostly sunny.

Now let hope this fella comes today to see about the pc as now Echo won't connect to the net. She is saying the wrong time and says she can't connect and telling me to turn the modem off and unplug her for thirty seconds but I am frightened to do it incase I lose you lot again. I also have 54 spam emails this morning.

OIl is also suppose to come today and they never give you a time so I better get myself going and jump in the shower.

O and its my sons birthdya today. Happy Birthday Son. He's 56 today.

Oils come and I was in the bathroom and had decided to have a good wash instead of my shower and he came just as I had finished so I had to run to the bedroom to dress. Anyway thats sorted now and I am three quarters full. Now I just have to wait for the bt man to come and I hope he does and then the rest of the day is mine. :-D

Afternoon All,

A dull start again but it's up to 14 degrees now. I sprayed a few more weeds that are trapped between the rocks and have tried some on the swiftly spreading lilies of the valley encroaching from next door. There'sa two foot wide strip of them ten foot long advancing now. Then I showered and went to the garden centre but I couldn't find any small bags of compost and couldn't decide whether to get some runners or which plants to get for the remaining pots! I called at the shop which has less on the shelves each time now and got some mushrooms to go in the stir fry today and other bits.

OH has been to a council meeting and we both went outside when he got back and wheeled the garden bin round to the front ready for collection tomorrow and we did some weeding on the front to top it up as well. I noticed some new patches of the nasty weed coming through, so will get that sprayed later.

I thought you told me you'd tried switching it off when I asked Mel? Anyway, if that's all that's needed it will only take a few minutes when the man comes and won't cost you if you have a contract to fix these things.

AnnG I think our Civil Service experience taught us to manage things with lists and be organised ahead if that makes sense, so I pack what I'm sure I'll need early so I can forget about those items. I have a list on my desk now so I prioritise things that have to be done by a certain date.

Better get on with lunch now!

He'ss on his way as I have just had an email telling me. I want to ask if I can delete some of the spam emails I am not sure about too. I was told on the phone that Norton anti virus is McCafie but I get loads of those come through saying I need to pay. Oh used to have McCafie.

I don't think either Norton or Macafie are free Mel.

Can,t get on the net again. No internet connection.

On my ipad. I have rung the number the engineer have me but when I rang it he said I need an IT person. I am going to go round my neighbours as she told me she works in IT a while ago.

Mel, Norton and McAfee aren’t the same. They are owned by different companies. Perhaps the person who told you that meant they both perform equally well. Like AnnG, I don’t think either are free though I’ve got a feeling that McAfee may have done a very basic freebie at one time.

It has been quite a day. The weather has been warm rather than hot and I decided on doing lots of jobs so I started by changing both beds completely and wrestling with the king size duvet covers. Then I have done several loads of washing. I haven't done the duvet covers yet but have washed all our clothes for the last week, all the rest of the bedding and towels and bath mats. Next it was a good general tidy up and sort something for our dinner before having a shower and washing my hair. Then it was bringing all the washing back in again and watering some seedlings and some pots. I then spied some weeds that needed pulling, leant into the middle of the bed to get them, felt myself overbalancing forwards, tried to correct myself and went down with a wallop backwards. I twisted my ankle (not too badly), scraped my arm a bit and bashed my bottom on a large, heavy terracotta pot. There is going to be one large bruise there tomorrow. Added to that, one sleeve of the clean, white shirt I put on when I showered is now stained green so I've got to change again.

The handyman came to look at our job this morning as promised and said it was a bigger job than he had realised. Luckily he is still prepared to do it but it could take longer so another delay. He's coming Friday to start.

We have a Club meeting tonight but I seem to have mislaid my programme so I've no idea what the talk is about.

Mel, when you get back on the internet do make sure you have got good security. 54 scam emails is horrendous. We have Norton and, by chance, OH has just paid our sub for the next year. It was £110 for the package we have though there are cheaper packages. It sounds a lot but it's only a fraction over £2 a week and it's worth it for the protection and peace of mind.

We need to eat at 6 pm tonight so I'd better get cooking or I'll be having a last minute panic.

I have had my neighbour in (Adrian) and we fiddled with the pc and at the moment I am back to using the pc but he changed something and the home page is different now and it all seems a bit slower. I get the norton antivirus with my bt package so they said I did'nt need McCaffi anymore.

I am just hoping everythings is alright now. He took bluetooth off and that seemed to do it.

Keeping my fingers crossed now that its going to be ok.

Vera enjoy your evening out with a surprise without your program and I hope you don't ache too much tomorrow after your tumble in the garden.

I feel I have lost another day with all the goings on and have only managed a little sweeping up out the front but not picked it up yet. I have to walk right up to the border to get my wheelbarrow before I can get rid of the sweepings and dump them over the side of the orchard. Iv'e not eaten today yet!!

Mel do you mean that at gone five o’clock you have had no food all day? If so how do you have any energy with. no food? That can’t be good for you. I would feel I’ll.

Vera sounds like you will ache tomorrow. That could have been a lot worse hope you can sleep ok tonight.

Yes thats right and then I had two slices of wholemeal bread with butter and strawberry jam just so I could take the rest of my pills. I'm having steak and kidney pie tonight with new pots and peas.

Mel you should report the scams otherwise they keep sending them and sell your details to other scammers and you could get even more. You say you've lost a day but don't forget that those that have tried to help you have lost some of their day too! lol. I hope you took note of what Adrian did to sort it. What made you decide not to eat all day? I don't usually eat till early lunchtime, but no longer than that. Maybe you had some milky drinks.

Vera I think our package is about the same cost, ( I suppose they all compete with each other) and it's certainly worth it for peace of mind when something goes wrong, a bit like breakdown cover for your car. Well that was quite a nasty fall you had in the garden, but thank goodness it was a padded area that hit the pot and not your head! I bet you have wrenched some muscles that will be stiff and a nasty bruise as you say. I had to smile though when you said you had no idea what tonight's talk is about! I hope it turned out to be an interesting one, :-)

OH has sorted a few books to take when he meets his footie friend in the morning for a coffee and chat. They have started to swap ones they won't read again and lend each other the ones they want back. It's a good idea.

My main task in the morning is to go and order the fittings and wall coverings for the tiny ensuite. I'm looking forward to it being done now as the wobbly toilet seat is getting risky and I need more cupboard space for my meds!! I also need some more 'nasty weed' killer.

Good morning all. 12 degrees and sunny here. Daughter left at just before 8am apparently so they should be almost on the M6 now.
I have a hair appoitment at 12 o'clock but they quite likely won't be here then. she has a key anyway.

Lovely morn ing once again with plenty of the yellow stuff as Frank would say and its 17 degrees no I lie its now 18 degrees.

More gardening planned for today so I have something to show for this week. My right hand keep getting pins and needlesit must be the way I am sitting at the desk.

Its also shopping day and I hadt o change the tim eof them coming againg to my usual time of 11am til 1pm. They keep doing it from 1pm till 3pm and thats not good for me as I usually have appointments in the afternoon.
