Might say step mother because Doris was using a different name? and we don't know what documentation she had if she had been fostered by Malenbergs?

For assisted passage to be given I would guess that she had not been to Canada previously and was in UK until that outward journey??

It's said malenberg or variant ,and they resided in the immediate area of St. Andrews church litherland Liverpool ,a Eric malenberg died in 1913 and he had something to do with Bryant and may match company ,this is what I've been told by family ,they said Minnie went to the family who were involved with this company

Where did he die? I can't see a death anything like that anywhere in England/Wales 1913-14.

Nor in Canada.

This is Minnie travelling from Canada to Chicago, on the visa papers for entry Minnie states the reason for entering the USA to be visiting Uncle Carl Oscar Malmberg (occupation Laundryman), Brother of Charles Malmberg of Bootle!

This is from Ancestry New York passenger lists, his father may be C J Malmberg, still trying to work out where he comes from, and where his Father lives.

Here is a transcript of Minnie's entry manifest, when she came to the US from Canada. I have cross-referenced this with the 1930 US census, also reproduced below. Both list Carl Oscar Malmberg's address in Chicago as: 6407 So Morgan Street.

This puts Carl Malmberg's date of birth around 1865 and his year of immigration 1885. It appears then that the Carl Malmberg you have found is a different person to Minnie's 'Uncle'.

And was she happy ,it's always upset that she was adopted and Rachel went on to have other kids ,thanking you in advance for any other info ,sorry I haven't replied before now ,I haven't been on here for a while
