Harry Cecil Rogerson know as Cecil was born in Preston 1916 and married Sylvia Wright born 1917 in Lancaster. They married 1939 in Garstang. Sylvia died in 1982 in Lancaster and I think Harry Cecil went on to marry Sylvia Taylor in 1992 in Colwyn Denbighshire. Harry Cecil died in 1999 in Denbighshire. I would like to find out more about Sylvia Taylor. Taylor might not be her maiden name as she could have been married before.
I know both Harry Cecil’s parents and the parents of his first wife Sylvia Wright.
Any help would be appreciated.

Get copy of marriage certificate for info about the woman

She had/has a second forename…initial B, which you didn’t mention

She was on ER in 2003

Look for possible death on the FREE GRO site……..death cert will include maiden name, if known to the informant.

The man named in your title is in someone else’s GR tree….are you in contact?

Quite a long time ago I was in touch with his daughter in law Shirley but I don’t think she is a member anymore and her e mail address has been changed. Shirley at the time was about to move house.
When I look at my tree I can see a red star on the left hand corner but when I try to look it says 0 matches. I’ve tried leaving date of birth out but no change so I left place of birth out instead but still 0 matches.
I’m sorry I didn’t mention the middle name of B. I only knew of her as Sylvia Taylor
I still have access to Shirley’s tree but she has emptied it. Because Shirley has emptied her tree that’s why I get 0 matches.

You should have found the second initial when you looked at the marriage registration on freebmd.

The other member with the Rogerson man in a tree is NOT called Shirley. Have a look yourself under ‘search all member trees’

Ignore the ‘matches’…….do your own search, which is much more likely to give sensible results.

That said, the obvious solution is to purchase copy marriage certificate.

I have looked and looked again but still come up with 0.
Now going to look at the government site for people married in Wales I can see a form to fill in but as I haven’t got a printer it will have to wait until I can go to the local library.
I’ve already looked at Find my Past, Family search and my Heritage but no luck.

Put Rogerson’s name in ‘search all member trees’ - I assume you know where that is as such a long-standing member of GR

You don’t need to print the form to order a cert. You can do it online.

I’ve found who I think is him but realise why I couldn’t before as I was putting his full name in not just Harry.
I don’t order anything through the internet as I won’t put bank details in.

I suspect "your" Sylvia must have married TWICE before marrying Harry - which makes it extremely difficult to pinpoint the correct Sylvia.

You do need the marriage cert.

Not Stewkesbury - she was born Dec 1926 and died in 1984

Wootton married Murphy in 1944, and Jones in 1989

Clarke married Dicken and is an open record in 1939……died in 2016
