Just to let you know Rita, you are in my thoughts ((((((((Hugs for you)))))))
I hope Shelly is getting up soon, for her long slow walk to work. Don't forget your plasters mate.
Hoping that Jean is getting all the rest she needs,to restore her energies so that she is well enough to caome to the meet soon.
Maddie, Pat, Cath dont work to hard today. I will be thinking of you sitting here in front of my nice warm fire. It's very cold and windy outside, so make sure you all wrap up well.
Linda have you got little one today. If it's as windy where you are, I can't see you being able to take her out today, you would both freeze.
Pauline, I hope you are all well, Love to you and Brent.
Marilyn, I hope you got a nice rest last night, and are feeling more like your old self, all bright and cheerful.
Well, as theres no teas made, I will have to go and make myself one. See you all later.

But I don't have to go out and hubby went to work at 5:00. Just saying there might be snow on the TV weather forecast . Hope they've got that wrong. Rita I am keeping you and Mike in my thoughts this morning.
Well just going to make my cuppa and get some washing spinning around
Have a good day everyone

Rita I've lit another candle for Mike, he's in my thoughts. Just waiting for the news now.
Good luck at the dentist Marilyn, hope it gets sorted.
Shelly, I was going to say the same thing as Marilyn, you're supposed to walk quick if you want to lose weight. Mind you, any kind of walking will be better for you than driving.
Welcome back Stephen, you were a big miss, you're safe for another year now.
Was there nothing from Dermot yesterday? I've just had a quick glance at the thread, so maybe I've missed it.
Mo, what were you doing up that early, did you wet the bed?
Linda, I wish I could have a lazy day today but I'm going to visit my aunt, it's only about 25 minutes drive away but I've got to go somewhere else first.
Don't work too hard Pat, Maddie and Cath, at least you won't be out in the wind and rain.
Jean, I hope you aren't out in the wind and rain either. Hmm, I will be, soon.

Pauline, you are not going t believe this, but when I woke up, my first thought was of Rita and Mike. I was kind of hoping someone would have been up and about, to chat to, and I wanted Rita to know that we were all here for her today,of all days.
Stephen I really enjoyed the scarmbled egg on toast, and by golly I was ready for it. My body is not used to being up at that time. lol I dozed of to sleep in my chair for about five minutes, and Roly scared the life out of me, when he opened the living room door. That will teach me to drop of.
I wonder if Shelly is collapsed in a chair at work, resting her poor tired, blistered feet.
Rita, I hope you are o.k love. Is there any news yet.?
Pat, I hope you are not working to hard. And that you wrapped up well against the elements.
No Maddie yet this morning, I hope she is o.k. Perhaps it's a day of today.
Jean, I hope you are not out riding your horse today, brrrr it's to cold.
Like you Linda, the washing machine has been going all morning. Changed all the bedding, so nice clean covers tonight. Just got to get them all dry now. It's blowing nicely outside, but the flippin rain wont help to dry it will it.lol Enjoy your relaxing day.
Marilyn. I hope you get on alright at the dentists today. And I hope you find dad in good health. It's a good thing he doesn't mind waiting for you and Pete to change his light bulb. Many elderly people, chance their arm and try to do it themselves, and end up falling of a ladder in the process, and doing themselves damage.
I wonder where Dermot had got to, he was not on here yesterday. I hope he has not flown the coop with the birds.
Hi Yvonne, Lady, Sue and all our other friendlies.

Backdoor Guests. ------------------------
‘Backdoor guests are best’ was the familiar expression in the countryside where I was born. Neighbours or the postman never used our front door when they came visiting or on an errand.
It was rare to hear a knock on our front door and, if there was, it caused a bit of consternation inside. It must surely be a policeman delivering a summons for not having a light on the bicycle or it could be a bit of bad news from abroad.
With no telephone in the house, details of extended family members’ deaths in the UK or America, for example, were reported by way of a telegram delivered, hotfoot, by a young chap on his bike. He didn’t work for the post office at all & there was no contract of employment but he just happened to be coming our way & the Post Mistress asked him or anyone else for that matter to deliver the telegram. That’s how things were done in our area.
The Post Mistress, a fairly mature lady who was born there, knew practically everyone in the parish & beyond by name & probably had a good knowledge of their forefathers too - a great source for those interested in researching the family tree.
The Post Office was no bigger than a corner shop but, as far as we youngsters were concerned, it was the centre of the universe especially after Sunday services. As well as stamps & postal orders (remember them?) , sweets, chocolate & ice-cream were on offer. That’s all we ever wanted.
The village, as we called it, about two miles from our house, consisted of the Post Office which sold groceries, one public phone box outside & one petrol pump nearby, the Pub & the Parish Church - all important establishments to look after the spiritual & physical welfare of the people - us. The Pub, Post Office & the Church worked pretty well as a team - there was no unseemly rivalry between them.
Hard working men in the area, mostly farmers, looked forward to & deserved their weekly pint or two of the black stuff after Church & with their old age pension in their back pocket also purchased food items to take home eventually. The pension was spread fairly evenly between the Post Office, the pub and, of course, the Church. The ladies had seperate socialising events.
Happily, those buildings are all still there today doing business as usual using euros instead of pounds. Commerce they call it these days, I believe.

It sounds so idyllic (sp) Dermot. So you grew up in Ireland Dermot. My greatest friend comes from Southern Ireland, and my neighbours are both from N.Ireland. My friend has the lovely soft Irish lilt to her voice.
We had villages like yours here in Kent years ago, where hop picking was a happy time for many Londoners, who came down just for that reason. But not anymore I am afraid, so many open spaces have now become built up areas. Gone are the days, when a charabang was arranged for a trip down to the coast. Generally it would have been Margate, for the day. The boot of the coach would have been loaded with liquid sustenance, for the adults. And Sandwiches wrapped in grease proof paper for freshness, and children given bottles of pop to quench their thirsts. On the return journey, there was always a stop made,at a local hostelry for refreshments. And a jolly good sing song on the charabang,on the way home. Oh happy days. Can we have some more happy memories please. It's so lovely to read.
Still no news yet then Rita.

Hello everyone
The operation has gone well . according to the surgeon it took four hours . Mike is now in Intensive care and will be for a couple of days ? His wife and eldest son and his Girl friend are staying there till he comes too. They will know more when he comes too and the doctors check on him. My daughter in Law is going to phone me when Mike wakes and she knows more. She will ask all the right questions as she is an Intensive nurse at another hospital.
I want to say a big thank you to you all for your support and kind words it has meant a lot to me..
Love Rita x

ITS OUT !!!!!!!!!!!! the tooth or Crown shall I say with the pin inside the root of my original tooth.
Well is was cracked the( root bit )and that was what was causing all the pain. now I look like god knows what .......hmmm don't like gaps . I have to wait until next week for some impressions to be made for a replacement of another tooth. I'm still in pain as its upset all the bloody nerves and Pete has made me a cuppa with a Straw !! taken some painkillers,so its just a matter of time before the pain ceases. Enough of me.......
Rita the church was closed ,but on Sunday I will make sure that Mike gets his candle. said lots of prayers last night and this morning for him....Bless him.
My brother has asked me for dinner tonight, so that will do nicely said I ...LOL
Just sipping my tea.
