Oh Rita I am so pleased that you have heard from the family about Mike. Sitting at home alone, must have been such a worry for you. The intensive care nurses are wonderful, and Mike is in good hands. I am sure he is a fighter, and will come round as soon as possible, to let the family know he is alright,as he knows how worried you have all been. I will keep him in my prayers tonight, and every night, till we know he on the road to a full recovery.
Thanks Linda, I somehow missed Rita's update post earlier.
Marilyn, are you sure you are going to be o.k to eat your meal at your brothers tonight. If you get him to mash your food up, it will be alright for you. lol It certainly sounds like you were in a worse state, than you thought, with that tooth. Don't worry about that gappy smile, as long as you are pain free, thats all that counts.

Rita, I'm glad the operation went ok. I hope the tooth fairy visits you Marilyn! Dermot, the village life sounds nice. I could quite easily live in a village. Just as well as I don't though because I wouldn't go anywhere! I won't be around much this evening because I want to try and finish my book. I've finished the one about the Wrting Group in Scotland. This is another one. It's based on bombing raids in Dartmouth. It's due back at the library Sunday but I don't fancy going to town over the week-end! Have a nice evening x Hi to Pauline, Stephen, Mo, Maddie, Shelley and Linda x

Evening friends, Rita have been thinking of Mike today. Hope the operation is successful and he is soon back home with his family. Marilyn dont forget to put crown under your pillow, lol. You might find something nice there in the morning!! Dermot you really have a talent for telling a story, brilliant stuff, more please. Ireland is where my heart is, I love the place and spent part of my childhood growing up in Belfast. We go to Wexford every year as my mother in law lives there. The whole of Ireland is so beautiful and its where I'd like to retire to one day. I'm partial to a drop of the black stuff too. Going over at Easter for 2 weeks, I can't wait.
Hope everyone is well
Cath xx

Just popped in quick to see how Mike is.
Really pleased that the operation went well Rita. We'll all keep Mike in our thoughts to see him on the road to recovery.
Lovely writing Dermot, I can picture it. It's a beautiful place, are your family still there? Did you ever go to see the Knock Shrine?
Got to go now, might get back later.

Hi everyone, it's freezing here, think I will hibernate for a few days. Rita, so glad the operation went ok, am sure Mike will soon be feeling well, he is sure to be in good hands, bet you didn't sleep much last night, Mums are like that, even when our children are grown up with families of their own, we still worry about them, hope you manage to sleep well tonight. Mo, how are you? and how is your lovely little Gr. grandaughter? Hope all our friends are well. Take care and stay safe. Jean xx
forgot to tell you, I was tacking up a horse today and another one [not mine] kicked me, caught me right on my back, so think a hot bath may be needed.

Oh for goodness sake Jean, a kick in the back is the last thing you needed. Are you feeling o.k after it happening.
My grandaughter has gained weight. When the midwife weighed her yesterday, she has gone up from 7 lb 6oz, to 7lb 10 oz, instead fo losing weight as new borns normally do. She's filling out lovely, and loves her food. They have had to increase her feeds from 2oz up to 4oz. they could not fill her up, so I suppose it's just as well she is bottle fed after all. Thank you for asking after her Jean.

Thanks for all the positive comments & support. Read about ‘Luck-Penny’ tomorrow sometime.
Pauline $(*-*)$ - I was born 3 miles from Knock & could see the church spire from our front window. I used to work there in my school holidays (1967/8) selling religious objects to the thousands of pilgrims who visited.
One of my school pals was a descendant of one of the 1879 visionaries. He subsequently joined the Irish police force & was shot dead by bank robbers. Pope John Paul II visited Knock in 1979.

Just to let you all know Mike has come round but is on strong pain killers so is not too aware where he is at the moment, the first he did when he opened his eyes was put his thumbs up to his wife and smile before he went off to sleep again. They would not let any family in to see him only his wife and she was allowed ten minutes, She has been at the hospital all day with his eldest son. If things go well he will be out within ten days. at the moment his blood pressure is bit high but the Doctor is well pleased.
Thank you all for your kindness , It is nice to have a backing in a time like this makes all the difference..
Good Night and God Bless.

Good Evening, and probably Good Night everyone.
Pleased all went well Rita. In the best place with all those lovely nurses to mop his brow. Wish him well.
Poor Marilyn, just called Junita [One Eater]. Soup is very good, just keep dosing yourself up with paracetamol. I did much the same thing when I bit on a Rolo. Left half my crown in it. lol
How lovely to see your grandchildren thrive Mo. It must give you great pleasure to see the little ones.
Hope you had a good soak Jean, keep away from those horses hooves.
Trust everyone is well and warm. Its blooming freezing down here. Frost descending as I speak.
Take care all
God Bless x

Hi Everyone, we are getting to be like agony aunts on here telling everyone what to do when we are ill Lol good isnt it ? to have others advice I try other things when poeple tell me what they have taken for cold, flu and toothache etc.
It is very cold here in Surrey there was a light flurry of snow earlier this morning it didnt last long but it has gotten colder since.
I will have to have the man back to seal my double glazing windows as once again they have come appart there is a gap and the wind comes in, this is in both sittingroom windows and my two bedrooms. windows, They were quiet expensive to be done yet they have had to come back four times in five years. I dont pay as they are covered by the guarantee,
Thank you Linda and Cath. I am hoping MIke will be feeling alot better today than he was yesterday, but the main thing is they got that cancer out.
see you all later.

I was sitting here answering my emails and the postman came with a large envelope from my sister, she had gone to Brent Archives Tuesday to search for some building information in our Willesden Reseach. we are doing.
when I opened it I found a large map of Willesden dated 1860 (I have one dated 1895) where are Street was , this shows nothing but farms stretching for miles including large ones named "Willengreen Farm" and "DuddenHill Farm. " "Elm Farm" to name a few. I found two school on the map one was St Marys Infants the other St Marys Junior school. both schools I went to. I never realised the schools had been that old., I feel really old now. I have still not found what I am looking for a big House called "Mead House" , but what a find this map is. The road I lived in was built 17 years after this map so you can see how old that little cottage house was.
