shelley I didnt have nits my mother wanted to make sure I didnt get them.

as some of the children were given letters to take home telling their

parent they had nits. The nit nurse i told the class it didnt mean a

child was dirty to get nits often the clean headed children got them.

My daughter caught them when she was at school I nearly went spare

as I always washed their hair everynight. but I knew what Mum had done

so I did it for my daughter. i am itching now talking about it.

reminds me of Megan ( my Granddaughter ) she came home from school

and told her mother they had an air raid at school. I said they must be

talking about the war to the children. it wasnt it was the nit nurse came to

check the childrens hair so infact Megan class had a hair inspection.

Hellooooo Shelly, I am here.
I think we must have come from the posh area, as I have never heard of that word before.
We did have the nit nurse, who came to check every child in the schools head.
I never had to suffer the indignity of have nit lotion applied to my hair.
We would run away from any kid who had them. I suppose I was lucky with my kids as well, as none of them had them.
But my grandchildren, have had them so often it's unbelievable. I blame it on them taking (the nurse) Nitty Nora out of the schools.
Any child found having them should be excluded from school, until their heads are clear, and cleared by Nitty Nora. Vinegar was used to give hair shine, after washing thoroughly.
Oooops jumps of soap box now.

Rita, I cant tell you how pleased I am for you love. Three months grace is great. Now stop your worrying mate, and get rid of that tinnitus.
I was reading in the Dail* Mirr*r today about the management of tinnitus, and they recomend having music, or the t.v on in the background, to drown out the noise. I am not sure if that would work though, as the ringing in the ears can be quite loud can't it. And you would deafen your neighbours, if you had the music up loud enough to drown out the noise in your ears. LOL

Dermot, I am LOL here.

Yes Shelly, you're the only one............ 'cause I didn't pee the bed either!!

One of my friends has a son who was still wetting the bed when he was 9. I used to work with someone who found out after she was married that her husband still wet the bed.......... he was 21.

My son got nits the first week he went to nursery. I got the shock of my life when I saw something crawling in his head. I carried him out to the car - at arms length - and took him straight to my mother. My mam went to the chemist and got some lotion and a small tooth comb, then sorted the problem out for me.

He never got them again because I cut nearly all of his hair off.

I agree with you Mo, I think the nit problem in the schools now is because they no longer have a nit nurse. She used to send kids home if she found anything in their heads. Now the nits just get passed from one kid to the next.

Rita, that's great news, you can relax now and stop worrying.

Marilyn, I feel guilty sitting here doing nothing while you're going out power walking............ I'll get over it though!

Very funny Dermot, I liked it. Think I'll tell my nieces to look for boyfriends who are lovely & wealthy.

Afternoon All.

Dashing in and out I am afraid.

Pleased for you Rita, well done. 3 months of peace of mind.

No I didnt pee the bed either. But my kids came home with nits. The lotion was disgusting. The small comb breaks the nits legs and causes them to die.

No, Pauline, no seamed stocking for me. Never have, never will.

Hope everyone else is well and warm.

Take care.

Very good Dermot!
I went to the chiro man today. I'm feeling good-no work until Tuesday!

Rita

Rita Report 3 Mar 2011 18:24

well I didnt wee my bed. that maybe because I slept in a big double bed with my sister we had brass rails and knobs on the bed

Mo my Tinitus is like a russell of dried leaves and a high pitched whistling noise. it drives me up the wall it will not go for some reason usualy comes last a few days then I dont have it for a month or two.
I take a portable CD player to bed with me with ear pads and play the music. sometimes it sends me to sleep then I had to sit up turn it off and then I cannot sleep. I also have a walkman that isnt too bad as I can turn that off in bed in the dark the only trouble is it has music recorded of "Queen " " The Shadows " " Ellvis " " Susan Boyle " and more no soft music to send you to sleep.to cover the tinitus. there is no cure for it.
I can tell you it is very unpleasant to have.

Rita, great news about your results, Im really pleased for you.
Shelly I didnt wet the bed either but my middle daughter did until she was 10. I felt really sorry for her as she would strip the bed and put sheets in wash before I could see although I never got angry with her as I knew it wouldnt help. She was also the one that bought nits home regularly!!!
Marilyn hope you are still enjoying the sun and G and T's.
Patricia i have no work until Tuesday either, its a lovely feeling.
Hello and ((((hugs)))) to everyone, off to work on my tree.

Hi everyone

Rita very pleased about your results.

My son had nits when he was in primary school, I used the lotion to clear it up then every week I'd put conditioner on his hair then comb through it.

My mum would check all of us every Sunday and we never had nits. Thats half the proplem these days some parents don't check their kids hair

Dermot thanks for keeping us up to date with the news lol

Friday night's used to be Syrup of figs night. Had to be that night, as we had no school the following day.
Every morning we were given a big spoonful of codliver oil and malt. Not many people enjoyed it, but I loved it, and would take the lid of the jar when mum wasn't looking and have an extra spoonful.

Hi Yvonne, not long now. lol

Pauline $(*-*)$

Pauline $(*-*)$ Report 3 Mar 2011 20:19

I forgot about the codliver oil, Mo, we had to take a capsule every day and a spoonful of caster oil every week..........yuk!

Yvonne, it was Sunday night that we had our heads checked as well............. unless my mam found out that we'd been playing with nitty kids - then we got the dreaded comb straight away.

Yvonne

Codliver oil and malt was different to cod liver oil on it's own, now that was yuk! But with the malt added it was yummy.
