Morning All !

Thanks for the lovely breakfast Jean.

Better looking morning out there. Sunshine.

Linda, It's amazing how long it takes sometimes to get rid of things. I have a clear out now and then but generally I like to get rid of things quickly.

Right now I'm trying to clear out Sailing and Boating things I no longer need. Some I have managed to sell but the thing I really want away is a Sailing Dinghy. It is totally refurbished and has a great road trailer and I am asking a studidly low price for it........I can't get it sold
It is becoming a bloody nuisance to me and I also need the space for other things. I'll probably finish up giving it away.

Gonna do a few bits and bobs around the place.....as much as my Gammy Leg will allow me to do. I have a good bit more mobilty and my gentle exercise routine is working. Should soon be back to what it was......
.......next to useless.

Have a good day ya all !

Rita, Hope you fix out your cooker problem soon.......keep your gun hidden until you know you can't miss.....then shoot.

Good morning everyone,
a lovely sunny start to the day, clear blue skies and little wind.
Today in the Channel Islands is a bank holiday -Liberation Day -. The day that the islands were freed from German Occupation at the end of the 2nd world war. My own father was evacuated to Cheshire at the start of the occupation and didn't see his mother for more than 5 years. It must have been such a difficult time for all the children who were evacuated and for the parents who were left behind, many of whom also had loved ones away fighting the war. Lets spare a thought for them all today.

Shelly I am a good witch, lol. Although from time to time I am referred to as "the old witch". I don't mind being called a witch but I do mind being called OLD at 47. :-(
Jean I hope Max is on the mend and enjoys his walk.

Have a good day folks,

morning Jean glad Max is getting better, he must be a bit frightened after he was shot. will take time for his conferdence to come back..

Stephen it is hard to get rid of boats these days. we had a cabin crusier 6 birth it was docked at Haryleford Marine on the Thames, we had a little dingy that we tethered at the side incase we needed it.? but at home we had three canoes one Kiyack I gave 2 to a boys club. the others to the scouts as we had a job selling my son in law still has a double seater canoe in his rafters at his house. I said his grandchildren will have that when they reach that age,we use to take them up to Horsenden Hills at the top of the road where we lived and use them on the canal we caused a stir as people gather there saturday or sunday afternoon to watch us.

Cath I stayed up last night to watch the troops land on the Channel Islands the day after VE day 9th May the people went mad.with joy.
I watched the programme at Buckingham Palace as well to think I was among that crowd. I knew there were many people there but had not realised just how many.my friend and I met two Sailors off one of the ships that had docked in London and they stayed with us us. they walked us home from Buckingham Palace to Willesden when we got home her mother opened the door and asked them in they had a cooked meal and stayed in my friends brothers room (he was in the Merchant Navy) they had breakfast in the morning and we waved them off. they had to be back intime as the ship was depending on the tide. Memories.

Morning all.

We sat and watched a DVD last night, cos we couldn't find anything to watch on tv.

We saw A Taste of Honey with Dora Bryan and Rita Tushingham. A typical 60's kitchen sink drama. The night before we watched Saturday Night and Sunday Morning. Two great films.

We also have Up the Junction, but have had difficulty in buying A Kind of Loving. It is available, but at a silly price, so will let that lie for a while.

Bright and sunny here so far.

Have a good day.

Rita, I know it was a very tough time for my grandmother and others. My mother in law was also evacuated and to this day still gets upset when she speaks of it.

Morning all, it's lovely and sunny here today. Think I'll put some grass seeds in the bare patches where we've killed the moss.

Aye pet, ya reet, Maddie, sha woz rubbish.

Linda, these men just need a little push........... for about 2 years. :-)

Jean, you do very well for your age, don't think I could cope with a baby.

Stephen, you could always put flowers in the boat and make it a garden feature. I think Mac Root is a good name for a genealogy site, could have been a good board name.

Cath, that must have been awful for your dad, not being able to see his mother for 5 years. I hadn't really thought about it before but those children must have been so afraid.

Ooooooooooooh Rita, now the truth's coming out......... you picked sailors up and took them home.. :D :D :D Look out Stephen!!

Pat, there's always something new to look at when the pictures change, so we won't get bored.

My God Shelly, is Olly nearly 2.......... wow, that's flown.

Marilyn, I can't believe you were thinking of putting something ugly up as your avatar, you know you always want to be the prettiest.

Lovely picture Sally, she looks very sweet.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EMILY

It won't let me put a drawing up for Emily.
:S :S

Where's Mo and Dermot today?

Cath I went to Brixham three years ago we were staying in Torbay and went out for the day that little bridge is lovely I took many photos of that and the ships in the harbour walked all around the key. I brought a jacket in the mariners shop while there, we saw an old lady who is a vagrant everyone knew her she spends her time sleeping on the benches near the bus station we were told she has been doing this for years people just leave her a lone.
Pauline I have enough sailors in the family dont need to pick any up I let them pick me up . lol I was engaged for two years to a sailor he was in the merchant navy.
Maddie Rita Tushingham brought my relations big house in Polperro it was at the top of the hill many steps to get to it.,Bill owned the bus station you were not allowed to drive into Polperro you parked your car and walked. it is a lovely little harbour. one of my Aunties Aunty Kate worked in the fish shed at one time cleaning the fish that came in on the trawlers during the war my Aunty Ida (my Dads only sister ) went and stayed there in Polperro Uncle Charlie was in the Navy and it was nearer for them to see each other rather than her stay in London everytime his ship docked they managed to see each other,he was the one who was on leave when his ship sailed he was posted to HMS ISIS ( ?) and his ship was sunk HMS Hood. he gave me a little flag off that once. I must have it somewhere no idea where. ? the only thing was his stuff was still on board it all went down the bottom of the sea. he had photos of his son who died aged 5 in the trunk and that broke his heart but someone in the family found another one and gave it too him. he lost all his friends on that. He was torpedoed twice and lost his mate on one of those as well he managed to swim ashore I wont tell you what he found but it nearly killed him.

Went to my friend's daughter's school yesterday, they had an open day for the farm. My friends's daughter is doing agriculture for A level. The school is raising money to rebuild the farm and modernise it.
Saw some cute piglets, 18 hours old. I won 2 coconuts on the coconut shy and bought a hanging basket in the shape of a pig. Lots of home made cakes, honey and jam to buy

Jean pleased Max is ok
