I came a cross some papers I had cut from a book a long time ago. It was headed THE OUTBACK.( it containes letter between a son and his parents. ) this is the first one.
A son gives his parents a dream holiday they are a married couple from Toronto.and retired.
Son
It's worth saying again that your father and I are so grateful to you for this trip. Our 40th wedding anniversity had turned out to be the best we have ever had.(except. perhaps ,our always irreplaceable first ) Our time here in Australia has been wonderful, and we.ve come to know such great joy.How can I ever say it ?son , I just can't and I don't know if I'll ever say it. I just can't and I dont know if I ever will be able to tell you in any way your understand until you're older yourself.
We're staying. There is no way around it.so there it is, We're staying for good.
I know this is a great shock to you, Knowing you, you probably have some strong feelings on the matter, but such things have happened here , such wonderous . remindful things , that have helped us rediscover what it means to have a new experiences and a new outlook.
We've already arranged the sale of the house back in Toronto.and we are not anticipating any immigration problems . especially considering our excellent health and Commonwealth ties, (see what you missed when you naturalised ?The only place in the world Americans are welcome to stay is America, tut tut, one last time )
Yes I know what in the blazes are we thinking ? after 61 years, what can I say ? When you know you know.
Yours father says not to kick yourself for giving us the trip . You've no idea what a wonderful thing you've done
All our love Mom and Dad
PS we will write soon.

Oh Rita...
Thats a bit sad don't you think ? I wonder if they really stayed there. Its funny but on one of the USA trains that I travelled a couple sat on our table for dinner they were Australian's and she asked me" What would be your choice of all the places you have travelled to live " ?
I dont think she liked my answer ......I said ENGLAND but it can be very dreary in the winter that's why we follow the sun so often. I had been telling her I had visited Australia 7 times and I think she thought I would say Aussie. We never saw her again...LOL
So England is my favourite place......no place like home :-D
Got all my washing on the line I'm just hoping it don't shower and its lovely and breezy .

Hi there when you all get out of bed.
I wouldnt live anywhere except New Zealand, but I would love to visit England again to meet all the friends I have made on here and all the relatives I have found. Admittedly I have visited only Fiji, Singapore and England. I will be taking a trip to the Chatham Islands soon, but that is a part of New Zealand, albeit a remote part.

Morning All !
I've been out of action for a few days. An old eye injury has been giving problems, yet again. Couldn't see to type properly. I'm still not 100% over the problem and must return to Hospital next Friday. Fingers crossed.
I'm wandering around with really dark sunglasses on all the time, even in the house, as any type of bright light is sore on my eye. Driving is out of the question just now , so I feel really restricted.
Good to see you home safe Marliyn. I bet the Holiday was fantastic. My wife wants to cross America on a Motortricycle. Personnaly I think she just wants to dress up in Black Leather. ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)
Gonna switch off now, the light from the screen is getting too much for me :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-(
Have a good day ya all.
Keep well , keep safe , keep smiling :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Morning friends. I say that and mean it.
Stephen sorry to hear about your eyes. I know what you mean how light affects them I have glucoma and have to go to the hospital twice a year for field test and pressure and use drops two lots twice a day. the thing with dark glasses you never know if it is sunny of dark outside them lol. anyway you take care.
Marilyn yes they did stay in Aussie this was an article I read in a magazine must be about 10 maybe longer years ago it was a funny piece there were ten letters in all going back and forth to him and his parents and the USA embassy.it gets really funny.
You must love flying and travelling about to go to all these countries like you do my sister is like that.. I must admit I have travelled to many places on the countinent , but I do love my English holidays.
HuiaAllYear
Nice to hear from you, I think we all find fault with our countries at times but most of us would stay in them. I know I would. I moan about it at times as we sometimes have things going on we dont like. But when I look at others countries they are often worse off then we are. I am English and proud to be so.

I also have glaucoma and a year or so ago the specialist prescribed a 2nd lot of drops, Combigan. One day I was gardening and the next day I had severe conjunctivitis which I blamed on something from my gardening, but after 3 months of my eyeballs feeling bruised in the mornings, and of them feeling as if they were turning to mush during the day I went to my doctor in tears and she sent me to the eye clinic at a hospital. The doc there inspected me thoroughly then suggested I was allergic to the Combigan. He phoned my specialist then came back and told me to stop using the Combigan. Next morning my eyes were practically better! So if my description sounds like your problem Stephen and you are on those drops ask about stopping them.

Morning lovely friendlies. Cold and very windy here this morning, too windy to hang the washing out :-( Spent most of yesterday doing the dreaded housework as we have friends coming to stay on thursday and they go back on the monday after which is the day before we go on our hols. Had a really good clearout and took several bags to charity shop, clothes, shoes and books. I don't like getting rid of books but I had piles everywhere, now they are all put away on various bookcases and I'm happy. I also packed my case so all in all a very productive day. I am going to attack the downstairs bathroom this morning and then spend the rest of the day working on my tree. Stephen I hope the eye feels better soon, take care. Enjoy your day friends,
Cath xx <3

Oh dear Stephen, I hope your eyes get better soon. It's cold wet and horrible here down south. I get soaked as I walked to mass. :-P Marilyn I bet you don't like this cold weather. You must be thinking about sunny climes :-) Cath- are you going to Ireland again?
Rita the English/ Scottish holidays are easier to go on. No passport required and the currency is easier. Have a nice day everyone. Don't get too wet. <3

My eyes were first spotted 30 yeares ago by an doctor in Wembley he gave me a letter for my doctor marked urgent. I was sent to Moorfields in London. and saw a consultant, he said it was high blood pressure. I told him I was moving to Norfolk, so he gave me a letter for Mr Black at the local hospital he told me I did have it and it needed treatment so put me on eye drops, I use to have to go every 6 months to see him. then when I moved to Surrey I had another consultant, the head one, he said I needed three eyes drops so I had two for the morning and three for the evening, after a visit I was told I only needed two in the morning and two at night. now I have had a letter saying I need three at night. I dont go back till next february,
We have a lovely day here bright and sunny a little cooler than it has been. I cannot get use to having all the lettering on my keyboard for months I have had letters vanish 6 went completely the other three started going.

Afternoon all.
The weather can't make it's mind up what it wants to do here, one minute it's stotting down and the next minute the sun's cracking the pavements.
Rita, Stephen's eye problem is from an injury he received while he was in the navy, he nearly lost his eye. I think it's still possible that he could lose it.
Sorry to hear it's troubling you again Stephen, hope they can do something with it.
I've never travelled the world but my dad went around the world a few times with the navy and he said that nowhere was as good as England.
I've always lived in the North East and I'd never want to live anywhere else.
The son of one of my cousins (the one who lives across the road to me) was on Location, Location, Location on Wednesday. He's been living in London for 10 years but when his wife had a baby they decided to come home to live. They wanted their children to grow up here.

Hi Pauline
I didnt know that about Stephen, my son had a car accident , when he was 18 and lost the sight in one eye he is now 54 and still has to go to the hospital for check-ups. we thought we had lost him at the time. it was a nightmare, I lived in Willesden, Ealing , Perivale Greenford and Norfolk and lived there a long time being born in Willesden. but after going back and seeing the places now I would not like to live there, Norfolk is different, but the other places are not what they were.
I am not surprised your cousin wanted to move out of London it better to get out now while they can and let the children grow up somewhere nice.

EDIT..
Cath..... I have just looked at Shelly's graves and I cant see Hither Green on her list....but she may have not enter all her graves yet ...SO its possible she may have some from there.
