Morning all
Stephen I dont watch BB I dont like it but the others do.
Gay Gordons that brings back memories of New Year in Scotland and the guy in his kilt playing the accordian we had great fun. M.I.L carted the Haggis a round on a silver tray.the party was held in the North Star every table had bottles of whisky and lemonade the lemonade was free when you ordered whisky. it was getting home that cause a problem as the road where Mum lived had a tree growing out of the road its self and many of them hung onto that before going on to the house, there was also a big brass bell on the side of the road that got hugged and tapped on the way back to the house.. Many a head acked the next morning and for one day it was quiet. Till the evening when it all started again. . Stephen none of the bra's the teeth or the knickers were mine or the handbag must be Mo's Marilyns , Shelly and Paulines they are always loseing things. you cannot take them anywhere without one of them forgetting something Marilyn once forgot her Husband Pete I am not sure he minded though ? Lol
well lets hope the weather stay good for the weekend and you all have a good one you have enjoyed a sail and the scenery of Scotland so away with you and have a good weekend.
Love Rita

your right about those girls they are always like that when you take them anywhere. They go over the top. Marilyn and Mo lead them on.. you must have sprinkled too much star dust about. you should have used Confetti instead. they would have stood out more then. " Grab a Granny " I dont think the girls would let that happened too canny for that I expect they didnt like being in the cells. they are making up for lost sleep now. your have to lock that Malt t away next time if there is a next time.or water it down. I think you can give them Toast and tea and take them to the station. better tell the station master where they have to be put off as the state they were in they will have forgotten. Me I am going in a carriage on my own. not mixing with that lot I have my reputation to think of. I was not even drinking and got dragged along with them. I thought they were my f riends. ?

Oooooooooh what happened? What are we doing on a train? I thought we were on a boat. I vaguely remember someone saying something about a granny, can't have been talking to me though - I'm only 27.
Did we see any of Scotland? And why is Mo asleep with a fish in one hand and a pair of false teeth in the other hand? Those teeth must belong to Jean because she hasn't got any in.
Is that Stephen's sporran on Yvonne's head? Bet Liz is glad she couldn't make the trip.
Not much point knitting us a fishing net now Linda - we're on a train home. I don't really think you should be hanging out of the window like that Marilyn, it's dangerous....*tuts*
Rita, come back in here, stop pretending you don't know us.
Shelly doesn't drink so when she wakes up she'll be able to tell us what happened.

? They are still living it up. someone sneaked some malt whisky. I wonder who.? The teeth were not mind I have mine. I wonder where the other's have got too. ?
Is Liz attending that wedding today ? if so I hope she is OK and the weather sunny as it is here. I cannot wait to hear all about it and what she got up to and her OH.
I seem to be on here on my own this afternoon except for you. The trip was too much for them.
I have been busy made a small chicken pie for my dinner and did a mince beef casserol to freeze. Watching all these cookery programmes makes me want to do things I have not done for a long time.
I vacumed the flat as well. I have those great big spiders again they shoot across the carpet like the devil is after them I am to.
I am going to wash my hair now and sort some of my Autobiography out ready to type out tomorrow I have not done any of it for four or five months I have it written out but not typed. so have made my mind up to start doing it again. I am not getting any younger. I have done quiet a lot already.
have a good evening.
Rita.

Mo my Pie was crinkled around the edges with a crickler it belong to my Dad he use in in 1924 so you can see it is very old and is made of brass.he had it when he was an apprentice to a baker that was what he was going to do.but changed jobs. I still have all my icing and bread making tools I had when I went to Ealing College for bakery course in 1968 along with the books. Hope the wedding went off without any problems, it isn't nice when someones special day is spoiled is it. It was so good this morning not to have to get up early and go to Christies, have had a very lazy day. No hangovers I hope girls, but at least you have the rest of the weekend to recover. Take care and stay well. Jean xx

Good Morning Well where are you all? Stephen has taken his yatch back along the coast and the girls are on the train. But I can't see anyone up and about yet. Jean I hope you feel better today. Do you get Monday of as it is a Bank Holiday? I hope so. Liz if you look in tonight I hope the wedding went well. Marilyn are you back home yet? Not too tired out I hope. Rita I hope you have a nice day today and are fully recovered from the scan, thinking of your grand daughter. Mo how many cardigans does your little one have waiting for them? Shelly are you still researching? Schools will soon be back won't they? Are your daughter and grandson back yet, you really are missing them aren't you?
Yvonne and Pauline I hope you are both enjoying the weekend.
Sue is still absent from here, but I do see her on Facebook.
Elizabeth seems to be away too.
Have I forgotten anyone? If so I'm sorry
Have a good day. Not sure what I am doing?

TIR-NAN-OG
Delightful is the land beyond all dreams, Fairer than anything your eyes have ever seen, There all the year the fruit is on the tree, And all the year the bloom is on the flower
There with wild honey drip the forest trees; The stores of wine and mead will never fail, Nor pain nor sickness knows the dweller there, Death and decay come near him never more
You will have horses of the fairy breed, You will have hounds that can outrun the wind, A hundred chiefs will follow you in war, A hundred maidens will sing you to your sleep
A crown of sovereignty your brow shall wear, And by your side a magic blade shall hang, And you will be Lord of all the Land of Youth And the lord of Niamh of the Head of Gold
*Niamh was the daughter of the King of the Land of Youth. She had Golden hair.

Stephen it looks lovely, but there are only 2 of us.
Maybe if we could get everyone together we could have our own meet, but it is a long way from those of us who live in the south unfortunately
Still I can dream.
I have added it to my favourites, incase I get a chance or the whole family can get away together

Morning Stephen I looked at it as well there is only one of me
Linda I have just posted a message on your Thoughts for the day.
I have to tell you this picture it as I write. Megan is in St Thomases Hospital in London the family went to visit her yesterday. My daughter RJ was on crutches she has achilles heel.her husband Steve was with his walking stick he has cancer as you know Megan's mother is on her crutches she has knee trouble and is an invalid. her brother Daniel injured his foot playing foorball so he had a limp and a stick.Megan wanted to show them the fish in the pond in the hospital so they put her in a wheelchair and Daniel managed to push her into the garden. they where halfway along when they saw a group of nurses and Doctor staring and they all broke out laughing my daughter said I stood there and explained what each person had.she said it was as if they had all been in the hospital as patients. The staff had a good laugh about it as well. Just before Stacey left home to take Megan to the hospital she recieved a phone call telling her they had cancellation so she could have her a knee replacement done on Tuesday she has been on the list a long time she had to turn it down because of collecting Megan from the hospital and it would have left her husband looking after three children and he is not well they have given her another appointment to get it done next month meanwhile my daughter arrived home to get a phone call telling her her other Granddaughter Leah had fallen off the bunk bed and had been rushed into hospital she is home now. but how unlucky can a family get ? we have had a laugh over it what else can you do. we are wndering what else is going to happen will this never end ?

Rita,
I shouldn't really laugh but that must have look like something from a 'Carry On' film.
Yes! We often wonder when our troubles will end and also why we get so many at the same time.
I have lost all my family, 7 brothers, 4 sisters, Mum and Dad. They all went quickly, one after the other. I was numb with grief.
Even the family undertaker said he was getting to know me to well.
Dear close friends either died too young or have been killed in combat.
My belief in a Power greater than us helped see me through. I have a real sense of humour and often call on that when things get tough.
And also I retreat to my own little space, both in reality and in my imagination.
It is always there for me, my place of solace and peace... .my Tir-nan-Og.
I read these boards and realise how much pain some people have to endure. I may not respond to the boards but my thoughts and prayers go out to them that post the notice.
GR is so much more than Family Research. For many it is a lifeline.

Hi Stephen I feel that as well I know i have friends on this friendly board and can PM them if I need help or speak to someone
like you I have lost my close family there is only my sister Sheila and myself I do have my children three of them all married and 11 Grandchildren but dont get to seem them that often. except for my sister. I also have 11 Great Grandchildren. but the family seem to be having many troubles. I had a year when I lost 6 members of the family all with cancer in 1968 I didnt think I would get through that but somehow I did.
It is weird as sometimes you wonder if someone is looking over your shoulder and telling you things .I often feel that someone is telling me what way to go. but then perhaps it is just me.?
You cannot change what fate has planned.I dont think I would want to know that. My mother in Law use to say she could see things about her I use to joke with her and tell her to water the whisky.but I often wondered if she really could.?
So I count myself lucky that I have good friends I can speak too and if you cannot laugh now and again you might as well give in.
Hope you have good weather it was sunny this morning now we have clouds and it is very windy the trees are bending nearly in half and I have not seen that for a longtime.
I think I will go and make myself a cup of tea.
Take care.

Yes, these boards are definitely a lifeline for many people. I've read many posts that have brought tears to my eyes and a lump to my throat. But I've also cried with laughter at some of the posts. We have some lovely people on this site, always willing to help in any way they can.
It's sad that you've lost all of your family Stephen. Without your belief, it would have been much harder for you to cope with it. I also have a strong belief in a greater power and it helps me cope with the loss of loved ones. The lovely people on this thread have helped me get through a very bad time. We all try to help each other.
Rita, I couldn't help but laugh at the picture you painted of your family in the hospital. It's just as well they all have a sense of humour. This run of bad luck must end soon though.
By the way - Linda's telling fibs, those pink frilly nickers are hers. Mine are the very small black ones, don't know who those big bloomers belong to though.

Stephen, get my Bridget Jones big knickers of now, you are very naughty. It's a good job they were clean ones. Yes Pauline the G-String is Marilyns. Didn't you see her btm wobbling when she was dancing with the trawler men. Oh she's a little minx so she is.
Linda I have lost count on how many cardigans I have made, for the new baby. The last one I knitted, was in a fleck wool. Yes I managed to get some in the end. It's base colour is white, with Yellow, Blue, Green, Pink, Mauve flecks in it. That way I feel safer, just in case it is a boy rather than a girl as they were told at the twelve week scan. She has got her twenty week scan very soon, perhaps we may know for definate then.
Oh Rita, I bet it was a funny sight seing you all traipsing through the hospital, looking like the walking wounded. What a shame Stacey had to cancel her op. It's always sods law isn't it, it's like waiting for a bus, you miss one and then two come along at the same time.
