Afternoon All That sounds quite a job fixing the wires up for your new Ecko . I dont think we will be having one of those !!
Ann ,my tumble dryer isnt really that old .Our 5 yr extended warranty has just run out.It was new when we had the flooded garage. The actual machine doesnt feel hot .It is the clothes that get so hot on the cool setting. But I just want rid of it now,I just feel on edge when it is on.
Mel it was a short spade Chris had this year and yes I think he is pleased with it :-D
Fridges sorted this morning :-D :-D.. Shameful the amount of stuff we had to get shot of.It made me feel very guilty. Every year we say we will cut down on the amount of food but it never seems to happen. Tomorrow I am doing a late lunch for when Hannah and Gareth get here. They are out tomorrow evening so they will need plenty of food in their tums LOL I have a Duck and Guineafowl (2 bird roast) and a Turkey Roulade. I am hoping that the men will have the 2 bird one and Hannah and I will have the Turkey.I have cheated on potatoes and bought Lemon and Thyme Roast potatoes in foil trays :-D Just gone through the cereal boxes !!!!! There were so many opened and shoved to the back of the cupboard Some went out of date last year :-S :-S James is the culprit as he is the only one who really eats it. I shall be having words :-D
I bet Frank is home now. Hopefully there were no hold ups on the roads. Everywhere did seem very busy this morning here.Lots of cars.I only went for bird food today.
The wind seems to be getting stronger here now but it isnt cold enough for a fire. I was so late getting up this morning. I watched Gone Girl on my laptop in bed. I started watching it last night but couldnt stay up until 11.40. I did see the film at the cinema with Fitz but had forgotten some of it.I then watched Mrs Browns Boys.Eventually I got up and had a nice bath. The first since before Christmas !!! What with James,Jess and Hannah I never got a look in and so had to have a shower in our ensuite. It was lovely just to lie back and have a good soak :-D
I think I must check the dryer now as towels are in ,and take out the meat from the freezer for tomorrow.

Good afternoon all
I haven't been at all well since boxing day but not the same as Gill and James. I have had swollen glands a really bad throat, cough and aching all over not flue as I had the jab for that I've also lost my appetite but still cooking for the others.
Ruby had her little op on Thursday followed by her first check up yesterday she has a liquid pain killer to take once day for 5 days then its back on Friday for the final check up as long all looks well. A very quiet girl at the moment which suits me.
Hope Frank and Ros have a safe journey home and the roads aren't too busy.
Your Christmas cake looks amazing Mel. it seems a shame to have to cut into it.

Oh Anne so you have had the dreaded lurgy too :-( I expect your appetite will come back gradually .Food, little and often is the best when you feel like this. Dear Ruby, being a quiet girl just now after her op. It must be a blessing for you Anne :-D. Does she have her liquid painkiller on her food?or do you have to squirt it down her throat? Hopefully the food way is good for you. She will be as bright as a button again very soon.I hope you will be too :-D :-D I went to the little garden shop to get the bird food earlier and Mark the chap who has the shop was full of cold and looked so poorly. There are just so many nasty horrible bugs and Viruses around at the moment . I expect Richard is looking after you well Anne so you wont need to be doing too much.
Anne you mentioned Mel's cake which has reminded me our Xmas Cake hasn't seen the light of day yet .It is still in the tin in the garage !!!!!!.

Afternoon all
It's been very windy here today and not very warm either, so the heating has been on most of the day.
Sorry to hear you're not very well Anne. I hope you feel better soon and little Ruby too. At least she's quiet so that will be easier for you.
It sounds like a good idea to have a new dryer Jane if you're concerned over the temperature. Better to be safe than sorry. Pity the warrantee had run out, isn't that always the case, appliances going wrong just after the warrantee runs out.
How is your OH today Mel after all the work in the loft, I hope he is okay and not to achy. So does everything work okay, it sounds very useful being voice activated?
Sorry to hear you're still in pain Ann, have you got any heat rub you could put on or maybe try having a hot bath, that might help? Hope it eases soon, it must be so uncomfortable.
I hope Frank and Ros made it home okay and the roads weren't bad.
We've been busy today taking the Christmas decorations down, we decided to start taking them down yesterday but I felt a bit tired so did a bit more today. OH has just put it all up in the loft. The only thing we have left is the village I made and a string of fairy lights around the mirror above the fire. I'll probably take them down tomorrow. Every where looks so bare now. We've never taken the decs down early before but I was a bit concerned that I wouldn't have enough time on the 5th to take them all down and I didn't want any bad luck if there was any left pass that date. I had only intended on taking a few down, but got carried away. Never mind it's nearly all done now so won't take long to finish off.
It's a good job you mentioned getting your meat out of your freezer Jane, I didn't realise what day it was and completely forgot to get the pork joint out, it's out now so hopefully it'll be thawed by tomorrow.
I'm feeling back to normal now, so looking forward to a nice roast dinner tomorrow. I fancy ham eggs and chips with some baked beans for tonight. I found a yule log I bought for Christmas that I forgot about , so I'll be having a piece of that later. too ;-)

Poor Anne not feeling at all well. Its a shame when its over the holiday when we are all keyed up to enjoying the food and things. Little Ruby has been slowed down I see at least it gives you a bit of time to yourself. She will soon be back to her old self and I hope by that time you feel better too. Sending love to you both. <3 <3
I hope we hear from our Frank tonight to know he is home safely. I do worry when we don't hear from him.
Still hav'nt cut our Christmas cake yet either Jane! Ate all the mince pies and sausage rolls and we've just had a bit of the lemon drizzle that Emm made us as that won't keep like the Christmas cake.
Just ordered a couple of bits on Amazon fro my craft work. Only some cord and D rings.

Jane you can ask Alexa to remind you of timings and I just asked how big in inches is 19 mm. She will tell you how far it is to the moon or how many miles it is around the world. Ours also tells us what the weather is going to be in our area. We thought the sound was quite good for music too.
Gill I am surprized Sandra let you take the decs down already!! I bet her tree is still up in her room though. <3

Just to let you know we are home safe and sound. At about 12.30 Jan called down the stairs to say "you can get in the car now, I'm ready" 12 55 she appeared. We were nor amused as you can imagine.
We stopped for a wee break and coffee, and arrived home about 6,30 pm. Conrad and Jan are going to a INDIAN RESTAURANT in Toddington. Then on to Harvey and Julia for a chat. before setting off back to Paignton, another 5 hour drive, but knowing Conrad it will be more like 4.
Ros has pt a wash on and is now sitting down. We have to decide what we want to et as we haven't eaten since Breakfast.
An early night is on the cards, after all this travelling.
Night Night All, sleep right.

Oh Anne poor you! It sounds like what OH had but he wasn't as ill as you with all the aching. I don't think I would be wanting to cook if I were you, it would have to be ready meals! At least little Ruby is sorted now and it's good timing as you can do without a lively girl bursting with energy just now. I hope you feel a bit better soon.
Gill, I expect Sandra's tree will be put away last!! lol. OH agreed today that we will start taking our decs down after NYD. He has a lot of work to catch up on and his tax return to do so is happy to clear the decks to get on with it all. :-) Once Christmas Day and Boxing Day are over I am ready for them to come down and one year I packed everything away on Boxing Day. I think it was the year we were renovating my old house and we had the concrete mixer going all day on NYD to do the paths! lol.
I like that Alexa switches things off and on Mel. That is handy!! You can get special bulbs can't you if you are wireless that Alexa can switch on and off. I suppose they would be expensive though. I wish we had something that we could tell to switch the heating on and off. :-S However we set the timer we still seem to be up and down switching it on and off. lol.
OH hasn't touched his little Christmas cake either! I've settled on lamb chops for NYD. Even the £7 joints looked far too big for us and they are thick chops so will be enough. I got leeks and green beans and we have leftover carrots and swede in the fridge (and a few brussels! ) There are also the remaining stuffing balls and pigs in blankets in the freezer. The fridge is all clean now and the shelves put back in their usual places but the freezer was too full to be able to tackle that just yet.
Back to Teddy's jumper now. :-)

Still haven't eaten. Ros says she's not hungry and feels sick. I expect all the travelling has made her feel like this.
I have booked LUNCH tomorrow at our favourite restaurant. I haven't had confirmation yet, that's what I came on here to see. So you are the lucky ones to see me again tonight.
Mel did you get my E card. I have resent it, together with the confirmation that it has been sent.
Oh my it's only 9.00 pm and I am ready for bed. I haven't been out of the house down there for a walk, only to go to Jo's the other evening.
Conrad almost had me in tears tonight when he left. He took me in his arms and told me how much he loved me, and thanked me for always being there for him.He is such a caring MAN. I said I wished he was closer to us. i.e. In this Country. He wants us to go to Spain for our 40th Wedding Anniversary,.He is booking a VILLA and we can go there and stay as long as we want. I hope that we will both be fit enough to go for the month of May/June. I know Ros will be overjoyed to spend so much time with him.
Ros is watching HARRY POTTER. But I am not that bothered, so will go to bed and my radio for a while.
In passing. THANK YOU for always being there to see that I am alright. You will never know what this means to me. xxx
Nigh Night again. xxx

That'll be nice Frank to go to Spain for a month for your 40th Anniversary, is it next year?
How nice of Conrad to say what he did and also of you to thank us, although there is no thanks needed.
I was just saying to OH how it feels like we are all one big family. I've had a hard time with my family my whole life and feel like you've all been a lot kinder to me than anyone in my family. I'm so glad I joined this thread.
I'm sitting here in a lot of pain at the moment. Some how I've hurt my back and can hardly move with the pain. I've got some Voltarol, so I'm going to put some of that on and hope it works, otherwise I doubt I'll be able to sleep tonight. All I did was stand up from the dining chair, so I think I might of twisted as I stood up. I hope it feel's better tomorrow.

Good morning to you all,
Raining like mad here. I slept like a "BABY" last night. In bed by 11.00 and slept till 8.00 Ros is still in the land of NOD, but she was up with Cramp during the night and this morning. I will leave her to sleep in. We have nothing planned for this morning.
Gill that was very nice of you to say that. I remember the day you sent me a pm and I introduced you to us lot. I guessed then that you would fit in. xxx
Sorry for you sick people.Nothing worse than having all this food around, and not wanting to eat, but knowing you have to cook for others.
I have emailed my Restaurant asking them to confirm my booking. If I don't hear from them by 12.00 I will ring them. I don't want to turn up and find NO TABLE. :-0 :-0 :-0
We were thinking of going to the Village Hall tonight. The Mother's Club have arranged a New Years Eve Disco and food. I know it won't be my scene, so I expect we will have a nice quiet evening in around the Tele. I can never be sure if I will stay awake to see in th new year, but i will still be there in the morning. <3 <3 <3
Have a good day, and stay DRY !!!!

Good morning all
It's wet again here but not cold or so windy as it has been.
Pleased to hear you had a good nights sleep Frank nothing like your own bed when you have been away, hopefully the restaurant has noted your booking and you enjoy your meal.
I have been awake coughing most of the night and also had restless legs but apart from that not o too bad.
Sorry to hear you have hurt your back Gill you must take it easy today. Lovely that you feel part of the Genes family it is a shame when there are problems with your own family. I have been fortunate in that respect mostly because Peter being one of six with them all now having children and grandchildren who all keep in touch. On my side there is only Colin and although we keep in touch he is often abroad and Edinburgh is a fair distance from here, he is now back from Berlin, off to St Petersburg in February.
Ruby is still doing well the medicine she is on is Metacam and we drop it straight into her mouth.

Well I had better get showered and shaved. Then I will ring the RESTAURANT. If they can't fit us in, I will have to try some others.

Not sure if we will see S & S perhaps at the weekend. It will depend on Sally's shifts.
Ros has gone to Tesco with Carolyn to fill up the FRIDGE. We haven't a veg in the house. She is also getting a "top up" for my new phone.
Hope you soon start to feel a bit better Anne. Hot Lemon, Honey and a drop of Scotch should help. It does for us. Colin certainly get about with his JOB !! It's strange that coming from a family of 10 I only keep in touch with my Sister and one Nephew. The rest of the family knows I am there if they need me. I have Nieces and Nephews who are in their sixties and Seventies, so they seem well settles with life.I don't get involved with family disputes, I had enough of that when my Mum was alive " She said this, He said that" and so it went on !!!! Happy days. LOL LOL
Have had the confirmation for our lunch booking. It's always a good blow out. After that we will come home and CHILL.
Enjoy your afternoon, whatever you are doing. and A HAPPY NEW YEAR in case I don't get back tonight xxx

Afternoon All
Glad to see you home safe and sound Frank and that you slept like a BABY :-D :-D I expect you are glad to be home again now. Enjoy your lunch :-D
Gill,I am glad you think we are all like a big family here. Its true we are :-D :-D. I am sorry though that you have not had an easy time with your family.I cant imagine what that must be like really. I have been very lucky with all my family. The only ones who ever fell out were my Mum and her Sister. They always made up but it was like that all their lives. Jealousy was the main reason :-S
Anne I hope your cough doesn't linger on for weeks like some of them do. Restless legs! My Sister has that trouble sometimes.Drives her potty. Metacam is brillaint and all my pets have had that and I have had no problem getting it down them. I think it must have quite a pleasant taste :-D I think Thomas had it for 10 days after his big hip operation.
H&J should be here in the next half an hour or so. Meat is in cooking and everything else ready to go in once the meat is done. I am using ALL disposable foil trays :-D :-D... I managed to get the last 2 in Tesco this morning !! Sainsubry had NONE.
I better make a move and set this table and get the starter sorted. Chris has already opened a bottle of fizz !!!!

Just calling in to wish you all a Happy and healthy new year. I don't post much at all on here, you move so fast :-D :-D But I ama secret reader of the thread.
Gill, just o say, re your back. Having suffered the same thing for a week up to and including Christmas. Although Voltoral and heat rubs help, taking paracetomol won't help. the best thing for me was either Nurofen ointment and rub in or Nurofen tablets. I only took two at night for 3 nights because I am not supposed to take them with my BP pills. However they seemed to do the trick, they reduce the inflamation. I hope yours eases soon, it is a miserable and frustrating pain.
