1.12pm

I don't think I will be able to photograph the little begger. It flashes from the pine tree to the meal worms and niger seeds, Then it's off again. Where he goes I know what where. (is that Skakespeare)???? or just my poetic streak.!!!! Thanks for the info Mel,

Doing a cottage pie tonight with Swede, carrot and cabbage, all the veg Lewis likes. Ros has gone off to stock up with his bits for the fridge. He goes to the fridge as soon as he comes in, "NANNY ARE THEY FOR ME"

Still 14 lookers on the coop. with one bid. But like me, they might leave it till the last half hour ,before starting to bid. As long as it goes, I don't really mind what it makes. Whatever it does make will be spent on her ladyship no doubt. I am looking at one of these CO2 steam cleaners, for the house. Suppose to be very good for carpets, floors, tiles, cleaning the oven etc.. It will save her getting the mob and bucket out for the kitchen and bathroom floors, and clear up any marks on the carpet.

Afternoon all

Have been moving ice cream around the town this morning with hubby. We also went to the garden centre for our monthly free coffee( we are members of the gardening club and get 2 free drink vouchers a month) The weather is glorious again but is very cold today so much so that I have just turned on the heating.
The haggis was lovely last night and a good evenings chat was had. It was very very cold coming home and the car windscreen was even frozen on the inside..
Frank Loved the joke and, yes I agree with Mel, that your bird was probably a Goldcrest. The only other bird which behaves that way is a Coal Tit but I expect you will have seen them before.
Firecrests are beautiful little birds especially in their breeding plumage, so do keep a look out for them.
I have now finished all my tasks for the day so intend doing some serious family research which has got neglected recently as I have been busy chatting to everyone
* Mel * thanks for your help yesterday. I intend to sort this family out today with some help from Durham.
Speak later

Afternoon everyone ,

Its been nice and sunny here this morning ,but has now clouded over ,i never had a chance to come on here yesterday so had lots to catch up on.

Poor little Katie is not well at all ,DIL took her back to the doctors yesterday and she now has some Steroid tablets to put in her milk to see if they will help her chesty cough ,she looks so pale and is just laying about ,yesterday her little hands were blue with cold and she kept shuddering even though the heating was on and it was nice and warm indoors ,i don't like seeing her like that poor little mite .

15.13pm

Ros has just gone off to pick up Lewis. Will have the kettle on for his cup of tea when he arrives.

Haven't seen the little bird before, or since this morning, I keep popping my head round the curtain. Starlings and sparrows that's all.and my little blackbird with the dodgy wing.

Liz, It's terrible when you can't do anything for them, when they are not well. Have you tried putting her little hands in warm mustard water, and keeping gloves on her. My mums favourite was camphorated oil, rubbed on the back/chest and feet. Old fashioned, but it did work. If you can still get it that is.

Frank, I think I need to refer you to Mandy!!! Although I do agree it IS awful when little ones are ill, and you can't seem to do much for them. My Granny and mother were very into the remedies you mention, as you say, bit messy, but they did work! Not sure that modern Mums are into all that though! I know Laura would be 'sniffy' relying much more, perhaps too much on Calpol!!! Mandy, I do hope that Katie is feeling a bit better. VERY cold here today but sunny and bright; clouded over now and freezing!! Do hope you have a good weekend with Lewis Frank, he sounds a really lovely little boy, how old is he? OH has serviced the Rayburn today, so that should run properly, fingers crossed!!! 'Mucky' Mince for supper, Millie will be pleased, she always gets some!!

Mandy ,How recent can criminal records be checked? One of my Birth Brothers has been in prison.I don't know when ,but guessing the 1970's /80's
I'd love to know what he was in for.I think it was robbery.I also believe that one of my birth sisters son was in for murder !!!!!! Nice family eh?.Thank heavens I was given up for adoption. It makes me feel really grateful.I could have quite easily gone down the wrong tracks.
Is Mucky Mince a bit like Mels Sheep Sh** Pie Liz? I am cooking mince at the moment ready for spag bol.I didn't get to do it earlier as planned.

Mandy,I hope Katie is alright. Is she asthmatic? I just wondered ,with the steroids in the milk.
Off to stir the grub. 17.07

Liz what is Mucky Mince?? Sounds a bit like my sheep shit pie!

We have just had the most deep red sunset and I came back in to get hte camera. Took several pics but when I looked back at them on the camera they did'nt look as dark red as the sky was. Have'nt downloaded them yet.

Also today when I went out to feed the wild birds I looked at the ice srystals in the birdbath and they were round!! I have never seen round ice crystals before so I took a pic of those too.

Mandy I do hope the new treatment will help poor little Katie. It is horrid when a child so young gets ill like that and you feel so helpless.

Got a big steak and kidney stew on the go for tonight with dough boys. Smells good.................................. and not a lot of pans to wash.

LilyL Report 21 Jan 2011 17:54

Yes Mel 'Mucky Mince' is another expression for 'your' pie!!! We used to call it that at School!! It looked particularly revolting raw en masse in the so called Larder!!! Long before the days of 'Health and Safety'! These days I should think it would all have been closed down!!! but we all survived and in fact were pretty healthy!!! it was, like most of the food, badly cooked, cold and generally foul to eat, but it was that or starve, so 'Hobson's choice'!!!! Must go and feed Merlin!!

Jane Report 21 Jan 2011 18:00

Anne

Anne Report 21 Jan 2011 18:20

Had a good afternoon and added someone to my tree. How do I get to see photographs of you all!!!
Hubby off to a panto technical rehearsal and I am going to do absolutely nothing.
What on earth are British Airways staff up to.We do not use them as they are so unreliable these days.
Hope little Katie is soon feeling better. Steroids can work very quickly and I sincerely hope they do.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 21 Jan 2011 18:36

Jane, they are old Criminal Registers , you could try searching old newspapers ,a murder would have been in the papers, you can do this through the Newspaper office ,but without the exact year it might take some time .

They think Katie might have Asthma ,she had some Steroids before , it seems when she gets a cold it makes her really chesty ,she has Eczema on her arms and i think the two go together don't they ?

Really cold outside now ,just let Toby out for a wee and he didn't hang about out there for long .!!

Yes Asthma and Eczema do go together Mandy. She may very well grow out of it though.Fingers crossed she will.

Anne if you PM people with your email address I am sure you will get some photos lol.A while ago some of us sent pics to eachother of what we looked like as children!!.I will have a look back and send you a few of mine.Of course you realise we want some of you from way back !!!.

Mandy I don't know what the surname was of the 'murderer.(he would be my birth nephew).I have to say I'm quite pleased I didn't know some of my blood rellies lol. They sounded a right lot !!!.Not forgetting that my Birth Mother knew the Kray Twins. Now that I would have loved to know about lolol

MillymollyAmanda Report 21 Jan 2011 19:08

I hope she grows out of it ,it was really awful yesterday ,she was by the sofa and just kept laying her head on the cushion of the sofa while she was standing there ,she wanted to play but it was as if she just didn't have the energy too.

Oh Jane , the Kray Twins !!! now that would be interesting .
