A 2B pencil Maureen. I wondered whether you might make something from your tree trunk. We made a bird table from one once. Look forward to seeing your seat!! lol I bet you will get a lot more sun in your garden now. Butterflies love Buddlias don't they. We had a deep purple one in this garden once. I bet you were chuffed to to be told size 14s were too big for you.........doing well to keep the weight off too.

Just saw your pics Maureen.............well done your son......I think he made a really good job of it!! :-D :-D The grandchildren will love playing on it too. lol

Yes, Finley has already tried it out. I think son is going to cut it across the bottom and we can put it up on the decking, Finley's very own little seat. Did think about a bird bath or a planter for flowers but left it to him and that's what we ended up with.

Thought if it was a pencil it would have to be a soft one, have you tried charcoal, it's a bit messy but I quite enjoyed it, seemed to get better results.

Afternoon All
I've been into town with OH work jacket to be dry cleaned, and to pay a bill,
PAT I popped into Mar*s and bought some new bras again, only the £14 box with 2 in, as I am having to buying new bra's every month or so, hopefully once I sort out my tum and get back to eating normally I will put the weight back on,

Sunny here and mild, we are supposed to have a few warm days at the end of this week, google weather say's 22, I will wait till Thursday to believe it. I will be in hospital that day anyway, but it will more pleasent when I come out better than it raining.

I have the paper now ,and the fire was not Straw.Apparently it is a controversial waste processing plant !! and it was was plastics, cardboard and paper that was burning. It is at a farm called Blackbridge Farm. There was no available water supply so it had to be pumped over a mile!

Love the seat Maureen !I
Ann what time do you have to leave in the morning? I do hope that tum has settled .It would be a great shame to miss the trip.

Pat I have seen lots of those tricycle pushchairs like Amelias, just recently.I think they must be a new 'thing' lol.

I hope all those lovely walnuts do ripen for you Maureen.Don't let the Squirrels get hold of them :-S :-S

Maureen

Maureen Report 26 Sep 2011 16:38

Isn't it funny, I had loads of walnuts in a bucket down the garden and I watched the squirrel, he went foraging amongst all the cut down branches but never touched the ones in the bucket.

If that was plastic burning Jane, it must have smelled really awful.

Just finished cutting some of the smaller branches for family with open fires, got to find a space in the shed to store them now, will have to leave the really thick ones for the chainsaw sculptor ...lol

OH wants to leave at 7.00am Jane, so I'm hoping things will have settled by then. We have already bought the train tickets and I don't want to miss it!! :-S :-S That fire we had here was at a recycling plant. The smoke smelt awful. It is surprising they allowed them to recycle there if there was no water supply......unless it was just inadequate to put the fire out.

Frank, your pansies look a treat and will be a tower of colour and scent as they fill out.

Finished all the tree cutting for today. Three barroe loads to the tip. One in the drive for tomorrow. Will start on the BIG BUGGER tomorrow. I must admit, it lets in a lot more light into the lounge allready., but still keeps the eyes from looking in.

Maureen, Those wallnuts will be nice "WET" just crack them and peel of the skin. I remember as a youngster, collecting wallnuts, and peeling of the outer shell, It took days to get the stain off. I think in the old days, they crushed the husk to make Wallnut stain for furniture. They still might today.

Liam from Corrie plays that ex servant in Downton, didn't like him then and still don't. The sort of bloke you would love to thump :-D :-D :-D :-D
Doc Martin tonight, so won't be going for a pint.

Off to shower now, then dish up dinner.

Evening ,

The day started off rainy and dull ,but this afternoon its been lovely sun shine and really warm .

Really enjoyed Downton last night , the time was getting on and i wanted to have a shower ,hubby said you want to get a move on....i said the showering doesn't take long ,it's the drying off that takes the time ....what did hubby say... well its because there lots to dry off !!!! :-D cheeky old thing LOL

Pat ,its Arthritis in my thumb joints ,i use to have wax treatment at the hospital but i don't think it did much good.
When they use to burn the stubble on the fields here the fire engines were always being called out when the hedges caught light ,now they are not allowed to burn stubble any more .

Whats this !!!! Frank and Ladder , i hope you've been careful today Frank!!!
Love the container with the pansies in ,that will look a picture when they get bigger , did you make that container ? i've never seen one with all those compartments in .

Ann, i do hope your trots ease up for your trip on the train tomorrow, got your camera ready ? hope you have a lovely day .

Maureen , you have a clever son , that seat looks really good , has he done any thing like that before ?

Jane, i should think you could smell that fire then if there was plastics burning ,that really stinks !! fancy no water near the site ,it must have really got hold before they pumped the water from that far away.

Oh Ann, i didn't realise Pansies had a scent !! i'll have to go out and have a sniff of mine.

Fingers crossed for the morning then Ann.I hope all is well and you both have a lovely trip.Might be worth finding where the loo is on the train ;-) ;-)

We were very lucky with all that smoke as it was blowing away from us.I know that people in the path were told to shut windows and doors. There was no water supply which I think is so bad !!

What a lovely day so warm ,and getting hotter!I hope it lasts until Sunday as my friend is having a party for her 70th in the afternoon. She doesn't want presents but has suggested a little gift of Spring Bulbs as she has a field and little bit of Woodland and would like to plant lots of bulbs.I think that is a nice idea.

Does anyone remember a puppet or Character called Twizzle?I seem to have it on my brain but can't think if it was on TV when I was little or if it was when Hannah was young.

No William .I hope everything is ok .What about Sheila.I know she was talking about an elderly Aunt but that seems a long time ago.

Jane Report 26 Sep 2011 18:25

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 26 Sep 2011 18:35

Maureen if that was an English Walnut you could have sold the trunk. Wood turners woudl have liked it. You should have put it on ebay!!

Ann hope the tum settles for your trip tomorrow. Do have3 a nice time.

Frank thanks for the pics of your pansies. I like the planter too as I have'nt seen one like that before.

Jane

Jane Report 26 Sep 2011 19:06

LOL Mel ......put Tit on Eba* !!!! ;-).I never knew about wet Walnuts until a few years ago ,and we had a French Market in town.I bought a bag of Walnuts and when I got home thought they must have gone off as they were wet lol.I took them back the next morning and it was explained to me .

Frank I do like that planter with your Pansies.Where did you get that?

Chris has just come in and said do "do you not think it is time to shut the Patio Door and all the windows " I think I would have them open all the time if I had my way lol.It will be a mild night tonight 13 degrees,so i will make sure our bedroom window is OPEN.Chris would have it shut :-S,and that just won't do .

Jane

Jane Report 26 Sep 2011 19:10

Mel I think you might be right about Twizzle. Also did he not have stripy clothes?I don't know why it suddenly came to mind.It is strange how something pops in your head out of nowhere.

Jane

Jane Report 26 Sep 2011 19:19

Just looked up Twizzle.First on Tv !957.A living boy Doll who lived in a toyshop .I asked my sister if she remembered ,and she didn't.(too young)He didn't have stripy clothes. But did have the ability to extend his arms.So there is another Childhood Memory lol.(I don't think we have mentioned Twizzle before)

I seem to be ok this afternoon, so will probably go in the morning as we can always turn the car around and come back!! To think, there I was a few days ago more bothered about my knees and the stairs at the station. I'm taking my camera, but I bet the windows on the train will be mucky!! On the old trains you could slide the window down to get a clear view to take a pic.

I must admit I had never heard of wet walnuts until they were mentioned on here. lol They sound quite nice. I never watched Twizzle either.

Mandy I can just imagine your hubby saying that!! It is the sort of cheeky thing mine would say!!! lol.
