I don't leave the village much these days. It suits me to let the world get on with it's business without my interference so I dress almost exclusively in jeans and sweat or tee-shirts and have a lesbian haircut that can go a long time without a trim. Simplified existence. |

As far as I’m aware, saris aren’t ‘made’, they are a long piece of fabric wrapped & pleated around the waist. It is tucked into a Petticoat/underskirt to hold it in place. A bodice to cover the upper body is sewn in a complimentary colour. |

I am uncomfortable with the idea of going out of the house in one and I can tell you that an Asian function will not be happening in this village for a very long time. We have one or two Eastern Europeans working on the raspberry farm but, apart from that, there is no ethnic mix. |

Would there be enough to make a skirt from the material? Maybe a long one. |

Our daughter attended her school friend’s wedding. She turned down the brides mother’s offer to lend her one on the grounds that she’s too buxom to fit into the bodice! The friend told her that even she found them difficult to walk in! |

Do I strike you as somebody who has use for a runner for the table, Maggie? |

Different bunting to hang in the village hall or wherever for the meals etc! |

Well, I suppose if I was honest - no you probably wouldn't use a table runner, but it can be used for entertainment value - a cat sliding along a table runner, for example :-D |

In a month or two mothers will be starting to make/buy their daughters' prom dresses. Is there enough material for you to be able to sell it to a dressmaking mum? A couple of years ago, on the advice of a dressmaker, my daughter bought material for granddaughter's posh frock from an Indian fabric shop and it was gorgeous. |

It will probably just sit in my drawer until Kingdom Come while I grin to myself imagining how I would look in my sari. |

Vera ................ My daughter bought material from a sari shop to make her graduation dance dress. That was way back in 1992! |
