I suspect if we want to raise money in any way, e'g' raffle we would have to be careful not to contravene any licensing laws. Ann Glos

thats what i was wondering Ann spose we could phone and ask before hand Bev

If we get Mags to contact the landlord and explain maybe he/she will have a suggestion of how to raise money legally. Ann Glos

Not being a killjoy here - I support Pink's fund as much as the next person BUT - when I went to the pub to check with the landlady about us having a meet there and she asked what it was all about - I explained it as being members of a genealogical site meeting, chatting, having a drink and a bit of a laugh. If that is going to change - then I would need to go and talk to her again. We can't just 'do' things - as Ann has said - we would need to look at the implications of any restrictions in their licensing laws - and also those governing charity collections - I believe you have to be licenced personally to be able to collect for charity. mags you didnt mention strippers, thongs or anything then?? Love Jan xx

Bev

Bev Report 17 Feb 2005 18:00

mags i thought that was probably the case, hence it was a question. are the strippers male or female??? Bev

Nobody is officially allowed to hold any raffle without holding a licence, not just in licensed premises. We could maybe have some sort of fine system, i think that would be OK. But we would have to check first. Ann Glos

Thanks all... Bev - yep realised it was a question ok? and a good idea xx Jan - I'll only do that if Rick agrees to get his kit off!! Dorothy - I think the key in your reply is that it is Charities that hire the theatre - We as a group don't have charity status - so I am not sure how things would stand. I know that Diana is licenced - perhaps it may be sufficient if she is there - which she may be. I will contact the landlady again - best from the horse's mouth I think! LOL - although she may change her mind if I call her a horse! Will get back to you again when I have ok?? Magsxx

Jan - BUT did he run screaming from the room when he said it?? - It cost me a tenner to get Terry with a thong on OVER his boxers - so I daresay just a thong would cost me a bit more!! LOL OK..OK....Just for Bev .....We could think about raising money by paying people to keep their clothes ON!! Guess I might be the biggest fund raiser on that score!! LOL Magsxx
