There's also this one in 1911 but I can't view the details, age fits with a Dec 1901 birth.

Yes Christine, I have posted a few others today and had no feed back so think the posters must be new and perhaps expect to get a personal message, not realising they have to check their threads.

Has been very HOT here, as hot as Portugal I should think, but looks like rain may be imminent. We certainly need it.

Hi Fred, why don't you try and get the birth cert that Christine found for you.

Births Dec 1901 Hamilton Frederick Liverpool 8b 103

What I would do is contact the Liverpool Reg Office and explain your problem. I have contacted many offices, given them some details and asked if they can confirm that they have the record. As you have a name, dob and you say born in the Workhouse then that should narrow things down a bit. King's Lynn recently found me a marriage , it took then a while but I got the right one in the end

The Register Office, The Cotton Exchange, Old Hall Street, Liverpool, L3 9UF.
Tel: 0151 233 3004. Fax: 0151 233 4944.
E-mail: [email protected]

Jennifer

PS Many women who were unsupprted gave birth in the Workhouse Hospital as it was a safe place. It didn't necessarily mean they were in the workhouse. The births were registered by the Master of Workhouse

Your welcome Fred,

Another thought you could try contacting:

•Liverpool Record Office and Local History Service, Central Library, William Brown Street, Liverpool L3 8EW.

who have the following records regarding Liverpool Workhouse:
◦Guardians' minutes (1852-1922)
◦Brownlow Workhouse — Admissions (1869-1925); Births (1841-1914); Baptisms (1831-58, 1874-1928); Deaths (1914-24); Creed register (1841-1928); etc.
◦Kirkdale Industrial School— Admissions and discharges (1862-1965); Classification registers (1845-97); Creed register (1869-1904).
◦Kirkdale Homes — Creed registers (1913-1969); Registers of deaths (1924-1971).

My g gran had her 10 children (born between 1901 and 1924) in the workhouse, as the doctor was free!!!
Also, by 1900, some workhouses had a 'proper' hospital, separate from, but within the grounds of the workhouse.

Hi Fred,

The birth cert you have could possibly be the one I posted as I have just checked the image and it could be 108. There is no other birth registered for Frederick Hamilton 8b 108.

Do you have his marriage cert and his death cert? The death cert may give his actual birth date.

Sometimes family stories are not always correct. Can you check on the sister or half sister Olga?

Fred,

Not sure what you mean by they sent you "108". There's no 108 to be sent.

What was the date of birth on the one you received?
