I have looked at the 1901 and 1911 census, but wondering if there any earlier ones, and where would I look for them , I have googled...

I have looked at the links listed on this site,but just cant find any.

Really looking for something around 1891 ish....

No Karen there are no earlier ones although some Counties do have "fragments" eg 1851 ....where are you looking and have you found the family on 1901....?

I am looking for Margaret Maxwell Kennedy bc 1884 in Newtown Crommelin Ireland...
There appears to be only 2 Kenndy families in this town in the 1901 census, and I beleive she is the daughter of John Alexander Kennedy and Lizzie Maxwell Kennedy.. found after much searching on different sites .. but cannot get all three names on the one document..

Margaret ends up in New zealnd by 1917 and marries and has a family .

Karen...Have found the family 1901/1911 ...1911 states 14 children b 12 still living...if you cross ref with 1901 there are 10 listed so it may be Margaret is out working in which case you wont find them all on one Census..have you noted John Maxwell aged 71 up the street from JA Kennedy...?

Have you tried to find a Birth record for Margaret....?

Karen....If you check the PRONI site and go to "Will Calenders"...under Search the Calenders put in John Maxwell...he died 1909 his will is Reg. Belfast..His will is on line just click on image to read it...and he does mention a daughter Lizzie also a Mathilda......(plus others...)

.. I am almost certain that its all the one family..

Maybe I will just have to buy marriage cert from NZ .. although these people are just 'twigs' on my tree, but its building to be an interesting story ,,,,

Have checked Griffiths Valuation (Skerry) for both Maxwell and Kennedy...no Maxwell and only 1 Kennedy...

The area my ancestors came from had surviving 1831 census records but I think my family must have moved to Scotland by then.

However, I read that if they claimed for a pension later on (i.e. I think it said from 1909) they sometimes referred back to the earlier census records i.e. 1841 census to confirm details. At that point those particular records hadn't been destroyed.

We really need "Maura" onto this one for you shes as good as they come for finding Records in the North....!!
