	Just going back to the newspaper article- the term Esq. "-an unofficial title of respect, having no precise significance, sometimes placed, especially in its abbreviated form, after a man's surname in formal written address." It was just a term of respect that was often used when making formal announcements- we know from Charles and Keziah's marriage cert that William was a leather dresser.
