Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 8 Jul 2010 15:04

thank you Carol, those are lovely words and very true.

My friend Lizzie is in my thoughts a lot at the mo, it was two years ago I found out she was in a hospice and didn't have long to live, we had sort of lost touch and she hadn't let many people know about her illness.
She died just a couple of days after her 59th birthday altho I don't think she was really aware of her cards being read out to her and such because of the pain relief she was getting, she was nursed at her family's home for her last days.

Thinking of all our loved ones gone ahead, and those who are grieving and sad.

Come dry your tears, smile again, love, I;m only a whisper away,
Near in the dusk of evening, Just out of sight through the day:
Watching you waking and sleeping, Hearing each prayer that you pray,
Sending my love to surround you, I'm only a whisper away,
Come dry your tears, smile again, love,
Remember the good times we've known,
Cherish the joy we discovered-
Love that was planted and grown
Your road may seem lonely ahead love,
And distant horizons look grey,
You won't be walking alone, dear
I'm only a whisper away.

Iris Hesselden

Liz has asked me to put this on here. This poem holds a special place in my heart, I read it out at my Mum's funeral as it was a favourite poem of her's, she found it in a book that I used to buy her every year called "The Friendship Book". By Francis Gay. This book has prayers, sayings, short stories and extracts from the Bible, there is one for everyday of the year. Mum used to send a copy of the verse to anybody she knew who had lost a loved one. So when she passed I thought it a fitting tribute to her to read it out at her funeral service, we also enclosed a copy of it with the service sheet so everyone who attended could remember her by it.
I posted the poem on Chat yesterday, especially for Mummo who lost her Mum yesterday.
Next week would of been Mum's 75th birthday.

God Bless everyone

Helen

Thanks Helen, it's lovely to have all these verses in one place. I often send a copy of the Remember Me poem to people who have suffered loss of a loved one.

Special thoughts for all those mourning the people they love.

I am adding this verse that was put on Cooper's thread about her late Dad's birthday, hope the writer doesn't mind but it is so appropriate for this thread.

If I should go tomorrow
It would never be goodbye,
For I have left my heart with you,
So don't you ever cry.
The love that's deep within me,
Shall reach you from the stars,
You'll feel it from the heavens,
And it will heal the scars

An amazing thread... might I add these words

You can shed tears because they have gone
or you can smile because they lived.
You can close your eyes
and pray that they will come back
or you can open your eyes
and see all that they left.
Your heart can be empty
because you can't see them
or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow
and live yesterday
Or you can be happy for tomorrow
because of yesterday.
You can remember them
and only that they have gone
or you can cherish their memory
and let it live on.
You can close your mind,
be empty and turn your back
or you can do what they'd want:
Smile, open your eyes,
Love and go on.

Another one to share

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glints on snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the gentle Autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there. I did not die.

Life is like a rainbow
Colourful, bright and beautiful
Let your life be like a rainbow
Brighten your world
Even better
Brighten the life of
those you love as well.

They Are Not Dead

They are not dead
Who leave us this heritage of remembering joy

They still live in our hearts
In the happiness we knew
In the dreams we shared.

They still breathe
In the lingering fragrance, windblown
from their favourite flowers.

They still smile
In the moonlight's silver, and
Laugh in the sunlight's sparkling gold.

They still speak
In the echoes of the words
Weve heard them say again and again.

They still move
In the rhythm of waving grasses
In the dance of the tossing branches.

They are not dead
Their memory is warm in our hearts
Comfort in our sorrow.

They are not apart from us, but a part of us.

For love is eternal, and
those we love shall be with us
Throughout all eternity.

Hi would like to add this one

Her Journey's Just Begun

Don't think of her as gone away,
Her journey's just begun.
Life holds so many facets,
This earth is only one.
Just think of her as resting
from the sorrows and the tears,
In a place of warmth and comfort
Where there are no days and years.
Think how she must be wishing
That we could know today,
How nothing but our sadness
Can really pass away.
And think of her as living
In the hearts of those she touched,
For nothing loved is ever lost
And she was loved so much.
