Ja...x my retort was directed at Fans, not you love. We must have posted together.

We do have fun here. OH is concerned that we have starlings nesting under our roof and maybe in the attic. He can still get up there despite his Parky's, so off up he goes to take a look whilst I stand at the bottom of the ladder with my waterproof jacket back to front over my head, peering through the popper space on the hood! I can't bear birds flying near me and was frightened it might have been like a scene from Birds!! As it was, not a sight of anything.......... thank goodness!

I knew that Cyn

I have had that before in other houses where you can actually hear them pitter pattering accross the joists, but never found them. Bet you looked a picture Cyn in your bird catching attire?

Spect it is rats or mice up there and they are good at hiding when humans are around so that is why they were not seen..;)

Cynthia Report 8 Apr 2011 15:56

Well, thanks fer cheering me up no end!! The bird giveaway is the fact that we are finding wisps of straw and stuff on the ground below. Nesting material one presumes. No 'signs' of four legged beaties.....gimme a break!

Thought you were busy??????

Some years ago we heard what we thought might be birds or squirrels in the loft so I decided to investigate. The trap door was a hinged affair that dropped down to allow the loft ladder to be pulled down. As I opened the trap a bird must have been standing on it as a bird literally dropped straight out of the loft on to my head. I don't know who was more startled, the bird or me.

jax Report 8 Apr 2011 16:03

What about squirrels? think we had those when we were at the pub.

By the time I found my mouse Fans had got there Cyn, shall go back to FB and annoy people.
Found something of interest on the ancestry page someone had posted one of these youtube thingys with the chi-lites" Have you seen her" Do like that song reminds me of my youth

Me too Cyn...Wondered if it was a nice pet mouse, mine was a lovely blue /grey colour...

Havent got far with Miss Pen though, plenty of searching left to be done for those that are bored...

A bat came down our chimney one night and flew round the room till dad caught it with a sideswipe to knock it out and chuck it out the front door..just as Father and I had finished watching one of those old Dracula films in the 70s....Lovely.

RottenR Report 8 Apr 2011 16:24

About 6 years ago my OH and I were asleep about 2am both woke up after hearing a fluttering sound ... put bedside light on and lo and behold there was a bat flying around the bedroom .... got up with OH right under blankets got a towel and got him/her directed into bath room finally got towel over it in bath and escorted to great outdoors. When I grabbed it through the towel I didn't think I had got him as there appeared to be nothing under towel then he/she started to chitter and I knew I had him. Checked house everywhere and could not find out where the beastie entered.

About 3 years later same thing only 2 of them don't know if they were ma and pa but both were eventually evicted for not paying rent. Haven't had any since "touch wood"

No it was my lap top mouse need it for c&p as I broke the clicker on here.
Only birds we ever had flying around the house were the ones my cat used to bring in while I was at work, not easy to get them to go out when it was dark outside.

My skin is now crawling....! I dislike bats intensely. Go away R.

I can see I am going to regret mentioning those flippin' birds.

It's probably Cyns fancy man in teh loft...still locked up there from 1921...poor sole (soul)

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 8 Apr 2011 18:51

Fancy man? Since 1921? Some hope! He'd be pretty decrepit by now....
oooooh could be my 'skeleton in the cupboard' hahahaha Anyway, a sole is a fish and I would be really worried if I found a fish in the attic!

It's the Grand National tomorrow and I hate it! I just cannot bear to watch those poor horses.............have just seen an old film of the 1911 race and was cringing at that, even though it's 100 years ago! more shuddering

Gee

Gee Report 8 Apr 2011 19:00
