She has dial-up ...

Well that one would drive me up a wall.

Completely inadequate info (like that bit about all the kids born in her middle age) ...

There's no Llewellyn Thomas born in 1917 with mother Thomas. What's she looking at? Oh heck, maybe I'll ask her.

yes,

I got the email last week telling me that my ancestry is due on May 15 .............. and saying they will do an automatic deduction from my cc

no, they won't

................... 'cos that card don't exist any more :))

jax Report 20 Apr 2011 04:35

Fans said she got 25% discount a few days after I only got 10%

When I had a look to see how much it would cost to upgrade they took the full amount and deducted what I had used looks like this

Worldwide Membership
Annual Membership Fee £135.13
Tax £20.27

Total Due Today £155.40

Refund £80.56
This refund is from the remaining balance on your current subscription and will
appear as a separate transaction on the card which was originally charged.

I paid £96 two months ago it did'nt look good to me ??

ja...x

So are they charging me the full amount and giving me the discounted membership money back?

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 20 Apr 2011 04:40

so they're basically charging you £15.44 for 2 months use?

You know, I've never bothered trying to get a discount from them .................. I've seen people talk about Tesco points (or something) .................. but we don't have Tesco here

and I'm sure that any discounts that might possibly be available from one of our superstores would be for ancestry.ca ..... not that I think that is the kind of thing that any of our stores do.

This was a phone call to their 0800 number I should have argued for a bit more....but it looks like if I upgrade the year starts from now and the rest refunded....so I may call them see what they say. dont need it but it could come in useful like it would have done today

Only thing is they cannot refund me on my card that was used as the bank cancelled it....now what??

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 20 Apr 2011 05:01

I do not know!!

I said earlier that they couldn't charge it automatically to my cc they had on file?

That's because that card was cancelled by M/C after their security discovered it had been used in Quebec, while I was in BC .............. some sort of copied card was used.

So that card doesn't exist now, and I have a new one that M/C issued.

I have to admit I was very impressed that M/C security had tabbed the use of a card in another province and phoned me to check whether that was a valid use

............. I do have to remember to tell our cc issuers when we leave BC for elsewhere in Canada, or when we leave the country.

As you know mine was used fraudently or tried...I have never had calls while away though.

Four years ago HID got a call at some unearthly hour when we were in Vegas it went onto answerphone but he rang them back when he was actually awake. They just wanted to know if it was him using the card...cost him quite a bit for the answerphone message and phone call back...he should of told them before he went I suppose.

My bank just knew I was a gambler lol

I do try to remember to phone them before we leave home .... forgot the last time we went to the UK though!

Interestingly, they didn't seem to have checked that time!

Well thats interesting!!

Just seen a post on FB by nu2 daughter saying she wants to go somewhere and then says she will get her dad to take her.

Thing is I cant visit them due to the fact they only have an upstairs toilet and I cant get up stairs. I have had one visit last August and another in Feb, his excuse is he cant drive any more due to being epeleptic or so he says, so he has to rely on his partner...so is he lieing or driving when he should'nt??If he is driving and I know he passed out while driving a vehical in his works grounds I am not happy that he is driving the kids about. aghhh
