Jonesey Report 22 Apr 2011 11:44

I see that last nights program "Long Lost Family" has brought the inevitable host of enquiries looking for missing parents, adopted relations and wandering siblings onto the GR message boards.

Whilst I wish everyone who is trying to find their missing relations the very best of luck in tracing them I am a little concerned that programs such as LLF and WDYTYA raise peoples hopes and expectations to an unrealistic level.

These programs make it look very easy which most of us know it isn't. At least it isn't unless you have a bottomless purse, an army of paid researchers at your disposal and access to places/records that is denied to the majority of the public.

Perhaps it would be kinder if the programs included a warning message stating that such research can be both difficult and costly and that regrettably does not always result in success. Another useful addition would perhaps be a link to a website which details the resources that the program used to obtain its result.

It was to be expected Jonesey.

There was one last night who decided to return to her 4 year old post on chat plus start a new one on TTF as now being desperate to find this person whos name she does not really know or where born, although she did have an exact date of birth.
I pointed out there was another thread on chat plus giving link and by a comment JC made on the thread looks like my post was reported??

So are GR automatically deleting posts and adding "request review" until they remove it completly do you think?

Do you have to say why you are reporting Fans? As I said above ,all I said was another thread on Chat and gave link nothing nasty said
