Indeed I was not Gins you cheeky minx. People were enjoying that film before I was born...

just.

Loads of superstitions, sayings, actions around aren't there Dea? Also lots of explanations for their meanings!

Not really a superstitious person myself and will happily walk under a ladder unless there is a wobbly paint pot at the top of it! :-D

Just have a bit of me time before I venture out this afternoon.....it's tooooo hot.....

My mother was one of the most superstitious people there could ever be!

The family always used to have to say:-

Knock on wood ............. still do that, but more jokingly these days! We usually tap on our own head over here!!

No longer obey any of the following:-

White rabbit, White rabbit, White rabbit

Not allowed to wear green 'cos it was unlucky

Men must take off their hat indoors

Never put a pair of shoes on the table

Never open an umbrella indoors

Don't take the ashes out on New Year's Day (bad luck)

Don't let a black cat cross your path

Never walk under a ladder

Make a wish when you see a white horse in a field.

and many more I cannot remember!

I will keep my fingers crossed for you !

You haven't given us a weather update yet - It is almost 30 degrees here !!!! SO hot !!

Winter was almost here a week ago and most of us have put away our summer clothes and got out the winter woollies !!

We are all very confused now !!!

Will check back later to see how you are doing!

Gee Report 1 Oct 2011 18:55

We're back......Had a fab day but the football was pants, we lost 2 - 0

I went out for a ciggie (No 2 son came with me) and when we got back the paramedics were at our table

A waiter had dropped a full bowel of steaming hot soup, right over where my son should have been sitting

The lady next to the empty seat had been badly splashed over her face and in the eye. She was taken to the medic room, treated and returned OK bless her

Sons jacket (back of the chair) was covered in soup but thank god he came with me as it would have been right over his head and down his back.....we would have spent the day in A&E

The company I was with sponsored the match, but the match ball sponsor (another company) gave the taking of the ball to the pitch to the soup splashed ladies little boy....what a kind thing to do

So we all know smoking is bad for you but in this case it saved my boy from serious burning

Golly he was fortunate Gins! That could have been really nasty.....but that poor woman...what a thing to happen.

Oh dear Sylvs........it means the tin bath in front of the fire for you again!

It's cooling down now thank goodness......I like it to be quite warm but don't like it so hot outside.

Dea

Dea Report 1 Oct 2011 19:13

OOOhh - thank goodness he DID go with you Ginns !!

SO - smoking really is GOOD for your health ??? (Or in this case, No 2 son't health !!! ) :-D

That reminds me of probably our first holiday abroad - on the flight, a stewardess spilled a pot of scalding tea all over the 'lap' of a gentleman sitting near us - they had to remove him to a back seat for treatment and an ambulance met him at the airport on arrival !!! - OOO errr !!!! - nasty ! :-0

I have to say though, when I have travelled ever since, any cup of tea I have ever had has been 'warm' at best !! - I bet that poor gentleman wished that had been so in his case!

Did you enjoy the day over all, and are they paying HUGE amounts of compensation for his jacket and offering you more free tickets ??

Was it a nice meal ??

Tell all.....................

Gin,

I thought that they only spelled Bowl as B_O_W_E_L in Tipton in the Black Country, I never realised that they did the same in Sheffield. ;-)

Dea,

I bet that chap only asked for a cold drink on his future travels.

52 staples later, the nurse says .................

"I have never before removed so many staples"

she even wondered if the staple gun had "gone wrong" as there were so many very close together in one area :-0

Trust me! :-D :-D :-D

Drain still in :-( :-( :-(

In this case, I think it might be said that it was a good job that you still smoked!

Bet that waiter won't have a job for long, though

Dea

it's about 14C here

but I put most of my summer clothes away the weekend before I had the op, on the basis of the cooling weather

the end of that week after my op was 25 or above!

it's been slowly declining since Monday!

Syl

The waiter had already dropped an empty bowl of soup when clearing our table earlier

...gowed knows why he was hovering around us with soup..soop (J) when we were waiting for pudding!

And after the soup spilling they sent him back out! Needs training me thinks...and the food was NOT good
