Dea Report 11 Oct 2011 20:28

Went into the probate office today about my brother.

I have waited 2 months for the appointment - It took approx. 1 minute to sign the 'Oath' and read one sentence out loud from a card to 'affirm' it !

SUCH a joke !!!!!

I now have to wait up to 2 weeks for the letters of probate to come through !!!

It's O.K. for me but what if this was someone with a family who needed to access any money available in order to feed them ???

Something very wrong with the system here!

I think I will have to start a 'campaign' !

Thinking about it - I think that when I have looked back at probate details from the 19th Century, they have been granted with days !!!

Surely, that will be VERY useful in my 'Campaign' !!!

They could do it within days 200 years ago but now it takes around 3 months ????? - Progress or what ?????

That is ridiculous Dea

It shouldn't take that long!

as you say, what about people who need to get money.

Yes Sylvia - It is not 'financially important' to me, although, I would 'personally' like to get it all finalised as I keep getting more bills coming in and I would like to feel that I have got it 'all sorted' !

However, IF it was necessary to 'feed and maintain' the family unit, it would GREATLY add to the stress in a very difficult time!!

Gee Report 11 Oct 2011 20:55

It's not just the financial side to it Dea.....like people need all the stress of a long drawn out probate when they have lost a loved one

You make a good point about probate in the 1800s......and they didnt have puters..........or red tape :-|

Hi dea

sorry ............. it wasn't Starbucks was it??

'cos if it was ........ I don't go there myself. I don't like their coffee, I think it is terrible.

Their only saving grace is that if all else fails ................... they do have soy milk for lattes! But I have to be desperate before I have it

We go to a little independent coffee shop which is combined with a second-hand bookstore.
