My radiators are turning out to be a farce.

He was here for 3 hours today most of it underneath the floor.

Found the blockage thought he had got it fixed. fires up the system. Nope :-|

The pipes are the old narrow ones which is the main problem upstairs is heating fine.

Downstairs is like a freezer :-|

Now it seems the only solution is to re-pipe the system and they cannot do it until Thursday :-P

They did re-jig their appointments to come out to us today BUT....

Result --- one cold unhappy bunny :-(

thank goodness we have portable heaters :-)

Linds...are you sure, they are not after unnecessary additional work?

Linds - we have a mixture of microbore (very thin pipes) and the normal ones but no problems!

Obviously the newer ones are hotter and they have thermostatic valves so they are more effective too.

If they are 'proper' plumbers they should be able to balance it with no problems !

Don't take any nonsense from them !!!

I haven't been charged for all the times they have been out.

The pipes were with the heating system when we moved in over 30 years ago and the system must have been at least 10 years old then.

He showed me a part of the pipe that he has already replaced and it was chocked with gunge he had already put the cleaning stuff through the system.

I will only be paying for the new piping and the time to fit it which in all honesty I am sure it needs done.

Like your window company Gins we have used them before (they fitted the new boiler a few years ago) also the guy is a friend of one of the boys so they wouldn't chance their luck ;-)

I'm having my kitchen floor tile work started this morning so must remember to make a sandwich before they start!!


Son is in a lot of pain with back and leg - am on standby mode in case needed to ferry him anywhere..

Gins, it was a new router last year and fitted by an engineer. I think the fact that both my laptop and my desktop are quite old doesn't help. Desktop is 9 and laptop is nearly 6. I also think I need to have a good old de-junk of clutter :-D

Just got back from the bone clinic.....trying to cross the city in rush hour, I may as well have been coming back from Leeds!

All my bloods are good, blood pressure is high............not buddy surprising 'white coat' syndrome

They weigh you and THEN take your blood pressure :-0

Gins glad results were good. You reminded me of the time our surgery was doing a "mass" check of patients blood pressure (cant remember why)

She nurse came out to the waiting room and said "follow me"

I did up 3 flights of stairs she them sat me down and proceeded to take my blood pressure!

"Its a little high" she said :-D :-D

She did it again 10 minutes later and it was fine ;-)

Heating guys coming tomorrow estimate between £200 and £400 depending on how long it takes :-|

Mushrooms and 'white' stilton (not the smelly stuff!!) on toasted ciabatta.

Cheese and onion tarts

Bacon butties

Sausages, grilled tomatoes, grilled mushrooms, fried bread, poached eggs and more bacon ! ;-)

As it happens, the man came to put the screed on the kitchen floor yesterday but.......he hmmm'd and haaaa'd and decided to come back tomorrow morning. The washer, fridge and freezer need to be moved. I had thought of moving them into the hallway and then realised that they wouldn't go through the door into said hall :-(

They need to be put outside if it is fine or, failing that, into the garage. It will take two of them to do it, hence the visit tomorrow...... :-S


Not sure what to do this morning. Need to do some shopping but am still concerned about son....... :-S


Haven't had my BP done for a while but it's usually okay. Can't understand why at times...... :-D


Gins, this morning I got on here with little probs.......strange isn't it? Not buying anything new until what I have really packs up :-D

When we renewed the kitchen we got polished black granite tiles with a sparkle through them. I love it.

I am going for coffee to my DIL's at 1pm IF the heating is working :-|

Busy day today and tomorrow, after I finish teaching, I have to go to a meeting about another contract.....home late on a Friday :-0

If I just say Aaargh....... will you get the gist :-|

Due out at 9am... arrived 10.30 text sent to boss (one of the guys Mums)

She was even madder than me.

I was going to DIL's at 1pm for coffee with her and her mum. they were still here and had gone for lunch :-(

I came home about 3.30pm. Still here. They had to go and get more stuff :-| :-|

They came back and under the floor again cannot get to back radiator as space too small and lots of pipes blocking way.

Solution - have to take pipes out and cap them to get to radiator. Fix it. Replace pipes.

Need to go and get more bits will be back.

OH is on a night out. I waited on them coming back (knowing they wouldn't)

Mobile goes at 6.30. It's the boss. Son had left her a message on house phone to say wouldn't be back tonight, called out to a gas leak. Could she phone me!

Then she says its going to take a while to fix booked all day tomorrow!

Can you guess how the conversation went?

She got an earful told her they better be back tomorrow and they better fix it.

No excuses. She can rearrange or cancel other jobs. My job has been running for a month and I am sick of excuses and delays.

She called back and has arranged for him to be here at 1pm tomorrow.

I left her in no doubt of my feelings if he doesn't appear.

I never ate till 9pm. The whole house is upset. And I am raging!!
