Find Ancestors

Hi Everyone
I have a CHARLES THORNTON B1825 TISSINGTON DERBYSHIRE in my tree and I am trying to find his parents.
From IGI I have found what I believe is his christening record and it gives his father as JAMES THORNTON and his mother as MARY .

He was christened 06/02/1825 TISSINGTON.
Now wnen I have looked for a marriage between a JAMES THORNTON and a MARY ??? around 1820-1824 I can find nothing.

The only marriage which I have found is between JAMES THORNTON and SOPHIAH EMET 23/10/1824 Tissington

I have looked further than Derbyshire but they just seems to be nothing, can anyone have a look for me please ?
Perhaps someone can find James and Mary Thornton on the 1841 census for me ? CHARLES THORNTON B1825 married in 1847 so he may be with his parents on the 1841 census . Charles profession was a manager n a cotton mill .

That looks like him but if it is then the christening record I have found is not the correct one and there is no christening record for a CHARLES THORNTON B1825 with parents JAMES and SOPHIA

The baptisms for Charles with mother MARY, and William with mother SOPHIA are on the SAME Batch on the IGI.

I drew the same conclusion as Choccy...........two marriages for JAMES

Flick I have the marriage certificate so I know his father was JAMES THORNTON but I have been trying to find his mothers name and siblins.

As the christening record I found said his mothers name was Mary I was trying to find his parents marriage but all I found was James marrying a Sophiah.

What was James's occupation?

Thank you everyone the possibility of two marriages never crossed my mind but now it has been said yes I think it is .

Thank you for the 1851 census as Charles is missing I am sure it must be the correct family

Yes thats them on the 1851 census
All charles children were born in Farnworth
Charles died there in 1858 his wife Emma in 1877

Just a thought.....could it be that Sophia and Mary are the same person??? very frequently you get different names on different censuses..particularly if she was Sophia Mary..or Mary Sophia......as flick intimated i have considerable resources for Derbyshire.and nowhere can I find an alternative marriage for Charles............you may have notice on IGI that there are two entries for the same marraige 23.10.1824..and 23.10.1825...........anything is possible!!!
