Mo in Kent

Mo in Kent Report 18 Apr 2011 18:46

Oh my word Dermot, how true that is.

Shelly, Lilly has just come back from a holiday in Scotland. She was visiting her great grandparents, and family.
She was thoroughly spoilt, and nursed nearly all the time. Before the holiday, she was happy to lay on her play mat, and chatter away, now she will not settle when she is put down, and cries if she is not cuddled in all the time. Oh boy have they got problems, they have now got to get her settled again
She has really grown in the ten days she was away. She still has the smile of an angel, when she is not grizzling.

We have got a big problem, with them arranging her christening up in Scotland.
Our family have said they can't make the journey up and back again, in one weekend.
Three of our grandchildren have got major exams, in the time that the christening has been arranged, so their mums and dads have said they won't be going.
It has caused a lot of bad feeling within the family, but we are stuck in the middle of it.
We can fully understand S wanting her daughter christened in the church, that she and her dad were christened in.
But we can also understand our other kids feelings, and know that they have to put their childrens futures first.
As it is, we are not sure if we could take the journey ourselves. It is an awful long way to go, for just two days, but then Lilly is our grandaughter.
The only other solution we can think of, is to have a family celebration, when they come back.
Oh boy what should we do folks. Could I please have your opinions.

Mo,

Would going by Train or Bus be a possibilty ?

I used to leave Edinburgh at 7.30am by train. Have a meeting in London.
Back on the train and usually home by 9pm at the latest. Relaxing.

Rita Report 19 Apr 2011 07:08

morning all looks like we mighjt be getting rain here I watched the sun come up this morning what a lovely sight that was. I use to stand on the clift at Caister in Norfolk and watch it come up from the back of the sea that took my breath away.

Not a good night last night I had a job sleeping took a couple of paracetmols to try and get off to sleep. what I would not give to have a week of quiet instead of this tinnitus.hammering a way in my ears.

Did anyone watch the Kate Middletons family programme last night ?
what a shambles that was. why did they show it ? the members of her family quiet distant ones did not not even dress themselves to look nice and two stood outside some sheds and bragged about being part of the royal family. to be part of the royal family they need royal blood. not just a name poor Kate wonder what she must have felt looking at that. if she did ?

Have the early birds slept in this fine morning?

I didn't see that programme Rita, what channel was it on?

Sorry I haven't got time to make breakfast but I'll make a cuppa.

(_)? (_)? (_)? (_)? (_)? (_)? (_)? (_)? (_)? (_)? (_)? (_)?

Mo, that is a dilemma, it's a very long way to travel for a one day event. My nephew lives in Berkshire and he flies up if he's only going to be here for a day........ but it works out expensive. How long does it take on the train Stephen?

Mo, the train would be less stressful and quicker than driving for you and Roly, you could book in somewhere nice and make a little holiday of it. But I think your idea about a family celebration at a later date would probably be the only solution for the rest of your family. Have any of your other children been asked to be God Parents?

Maddie, I've never been to London, so I'll just leave it up to you to book us in the best place. Are you wearing a hat or a fascinator?

Morning Rita and everyone else
Looks OK here this morning, the sun is up, but havene't been out yet.
Hubby went back to work this morning, leaving at 5:00am. Hope he is better than he has been.
Yesterday was a surprise. Went to get some food in from the local shop, just back and putting it away and there was a car pulled onto our drive. It was my penfriend from Australia and her husband. They just drove across from Hayes(Middlesex), Rita, near your daughter. They took a chance we would be home. We had lunch together and chatted while little slept. Then when she went home we went out to dinner. I had steak and king prawns(surf and turf) it was very nice. They will be back again before they leave in 4 weeks time. They hope to drive as far as Berwick in Scotland(IThink), seeing family and down to Devon then staying here for a few days too.
Tonight I am out with friends for my birthday and one friends too. Then the other friend has her birthday on 7th May too. It's all celebrations isn't it.
Must try to plant up my tomatoes today and get them growing on. Maybe while little M sleeps after lunch.

Have a good day everyone

Rita did you sort out seeing somebody privately about your ENT? Did the consultant get back to you.? Hope it eases soon.

Sorry Pauline,
You popped in while I was typing.
I love the fascinators !!!
I think I will re use the outfit from my daughters wedding last year !!! I was hoping to wear it again, nobody from our wedding party has been invited to the Royal Wedding, so I should get away with it, don't you think.

Thanks for the cuppa.
Just watched the weather and today should be warmer than most of Europe, with London hitting 25C. And it should stay over Easter for a change. Yippee.

Morning All,

Thanks for the breakfast Jean.........needed that......I've already been out in the garden working. Sadly my lovely daffodils are beginning to wilt now. Have some tulips coming along nicely along with loads of other plants.

Dentist at 8.30am. The continuing saga of my broken teeth. Going to have a few more visits before all is fixed.

Makings of another lovely day here. We're being spoiled just now.

Pauline, You must get to London. The History is fantastic. Loads of great Museums and lovely buildings to look at. Take plenty of money though.

Hey ho off I go.

Have a good day ya all !

I have been and had my warfarin blood done, I have not had it read for 6 weeks and it spurted she said you must sit in the wating room for five minutes or until it is safe for you to go. so I did.

I have asked for an appointment to see another doctor Liz said your very white Rita are you Ok ? what a question to ask me. ? no I have pains in my neck and under my jaw feel tender and swollen also my ears are hurting inside.
she offered me a vacant spot with the doctor who said your old what do you expect. well words to that effect.

so I have to phone tomorrow and see if she can get me in.with the other doctor .
when I got in I found two messages from the fire service they had phoned well l this old lady was out. so I had to phone back and leave them a message. to see if they can do my fire Alarm for me.

Then my estate manager rang the bell to ask to borrow some milk (she dose not drink coffee or tea with milk in). so I poured her half a beaker out. she said thanks the workman need it for their teas they have not got time to pop across the road and buy some she borrows but I have never had any back.not that I mind but when you borrow something you normally offer to replace what you have borrowed.

charming.

Afternoon everyone

another sunny day

Rita what a cheek, the doctor should have done more to help you, you may be old ( and I mean that in the nicest possible way) but you shouldn't have to put up with the pain and discomfort.

A doctor said that to my OH when he went to see him awhile ago about constent back pain, he told my OH what do you expect at your age, He's only 53 lol.

count me in for The Wedding, I love a good knees up!

Right off to the shops to get a new outfit......

Good afternoon everyone.
Well it looks like we will not be going to the christening after all. I must say I am very dissappointed, but feel I can't go without Roly.
Finances will not allow for us to go by train, and we would have had to have booked a B+B as well, as it would not be fair to turn S's grandparents out of their own bed, to accomodate us.
I will arrange a lovely tea party for the family, when they get back from Scotland.
And I am going to leave it to Roly, to explain to our son, our reasons for not going, as it's because of him we are not going.

Maddie, can you book me a room for the royal wedding please. The Dorch
sounds lovely, and we must have the best, as we deserve that much.
I am just wondering if I can alter my Easter Bonnet for the occasion, If I take the Bunnies and Chicks off, and add some flowers it may look grand.
The Eggs will have been eaten by then anyway, so that saves them melting and running down my chin.
I will pop into the charity shop to buy meself a dress. LOL
If I can't find anything I like, I will have to go to the bigger towns to find an outfit.

Rita Report 19 Apr 2011 16:42

Mo If your not able to afford the trip to Scotland for the Christening then tell them that is why. it is a lot of money for a couple of days. I think in your place I would tell them sorry but many cannot go due to their commitments and arrange a blessing in your church for the nearest possible time. ot ask you vicar if he will do a proxi service for the christening so you will all be able to enjoy it. and hold a little party when they get back.
It is their making not yours.is a shame but it is one of those things.that happen. Family we always get problems ....

Linda I was going to ask you does your radios stations also include Three counties Beds/Bucks and Herts ? I ask . as I know Wally Webb appears to be on those on Easter Monday and Tuesday and Thursday and Bank Holiday Friday
I knew Wally when I lived in Norfolk he was mad on county music and we use to all go out in a crowd together, he once asked me to talk on the radio with him about The Carpenters group one Sunday Morning which I did . he was also mad on Football. he gave me a photo of his-self when I left Norfolk also knew Richard Spendlove not as well as Wally Webb. but we had met a couple of times when I went to the Hoteliers dances.and parties I wondered if you knew the stations they are on so I could try and get their programmes.
I would love to hear their voices again.
Yvonne I hope to see another Doctor tomorrow as I am very giddy and have to walk carefully.using a stick.
you know I told you about the Milk. someone rang my door phone and I opened it for them only to find the guy who had the milk standing there. he said thank you so much for giving us the milk I was dying for a cup of tea. I told him he was welcome if he needed milk to let me know. he gave me £2 coins I said whats this for ? he said for the milk I said I dont want your money. I am glad I could help, he insisted and put it down on my book case.
I thoght that was kind of him but tomorrow if they are around I will make them a mug of tea and give them some biscuts because the Estate Manager appears not to.
