A Smile for today.........
A Calculating Husband
A Middle-aged woman bought a pile of Cosmetics designed to knock years off her age.
After taking hours to carefully apply the various creams and potions, she asked her husband........
'Tell me honestly, darling , how old do you think I look ? '
The husband replied......
'From your skin, twenty three'
'From your hair, nineteen'
'From your figure, twenty-two'.
'Oh you flaterrer!' , she exclaimed.
'Hang-on' said hubby, 'I HAVEN'T ADDED THEM UP YET'
;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Morning all if I list the names I will be here for ever lol I wonder what happened to Whippet Lady ? and Sallie. I know Sue pops in from time to time.
It is such a dismal day not a bit of blue in the sky just horrid grey skies and very humid I have all my windows open to let the air in.
I am going to sort the things out I need to take to Dorset with me next thursday. then I have to charge my mobile and camera incase I forget I hope to take alot of wedding photos I do hope the weather is nice and sunny for Georgia and Oliver.they have waited two years for this, all the planning they have done and money they have spent. her brother in the Royal Engineers is home on leave from the army so it is nice he will be at the wedding.and her brother is no on duty this week either.
one of my neighbourd ( who is a missionary ) has some others staying with him from Africa for the week., he is 6 feet t 6 inches tall and they must be about 5 feet 4 inches
see you later.
have a good day

Hello all
Happy Birthday to little legs
Bit of a grey day today
We went to the Burghley Horse Trials yesterday, really enjoyed it, the weather was good not too hot. The fences were huge, my little horse would never get over them lol. Bought a name plate to go on stable door and son bought himself a Stockman's hat, they've got a wide brim to keep the rain off and the sun off your face and neck.
My older sister used to read Jackie and Diana. I liked 'June and Schoolfriend', thats going back a few years :-)
Rita Best wishes to your daughter and son in law

Happy 2nd birthday to little legs. I recall the moment he arrived we all waited to hear.
Those books you have been saying you read or remember I didnt
I remember having Micky Mouse comic it cost 2 pence and Beano and Dandy with Korky the cat ,and my favourite were Enid Blyton Books I did love to read about the famouse five and stories of little fairies and Elves. , when I went to work I brought Picture Show and Picturegoer, then I went on to buy Musical express. such a long time ago,
Thank you Yvonne it is nice to know my daughter and son in Law reached their 40th anniversary last year he had under gone that terrible cancer operation we never thought he would make it. but with gods help he did.

I have been through four years of my Dorset and Somerset family History books looking for South Petherton and have found nothing at all. I was pleased I did search as I came across alot of interesting information some things that gave me a smile. I will have to put a couple on here so you can all see., sorry I could not help. If you had a surname you are looking for it might come up in one of the other areas'.

One in my opinion Dermot. Hello Everyone, I've been busy with the tree, I have found loads of ancesters who come from Benwick, getting married in Stockton-on Tees, and both husband and wife come from Benwick, and when you look up their children, you find the odd one being born in Stockton, so for some reason in the 1800's they went from Benwick Cambs to Stockton, this seems to have happened once a year. Happy Birthday Little Legs :-D Happy Anniversay Rita's Daughter and Son-in- Law :-) Theres a shop near me Linda that sells painted old bedroom furniture for a fortune. Hope everythings going OK Jean I liked the Lady bird fairytale books when I was young, I liked Cinderella best, when I was about five or six mum took me to see the Queen one christmas at sandringham, and I took my Cinderella book with me, when the Queen walked past mum bent down and said thats the Queen of England and I said, No she's not, she looks like my Nan Edie, everyone laughed, except the queen who heard me, I then showed the crowd Cinderella in my book. Hope everyones had a good wekend AGATHA <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Evening everyone, I've had a lazy afternoon. I watched Midsomer Murders. I'll be watching Darling buds of May on ITV3 I loved that series when it was first shown in 1991. That's a long time ago :-S

The thread is going to be a bit bare with everyone going away.
George hubby and I went for a drive earlier we ended up at Stratfield Saye, trying to find the house. Well it was open for one week in April and from 23rd July til 8th August and that is it for 2011 !!! So we definately missed that. Came back to Basingstoke then home through Hook so quite close to where you live George.
We had heavy rain this morning so the sheets I'd hung out early were still damp so now tumbling dry, shame.
Managed to paint inside the fitted wardrobe this morning so another job jobbed as they say. The furniture looks quite good and at least it is now the same colour and lighter too. I'm pleased with it. Will try to take a photo Pauline.
Happy Birthday Little legs hope you had a great day Shelly.
Sleep well everyone and George and Rita enjoy your time away
Linda :-) <3

Evening Linda,
A better place than Stratfield saye is Vyne house, well sign posted, think its off the Basingstoke to Tadley road, its an Elizabethan house open to the public, well worth a visit.
If you had carried on the A33 towards Winchester or on the A303 towards Andover you would have been near Micheldever, thats where I live, so missed me by about 8 miles...lol. Still hope you both had a good day
George :-)

I have had a busy afternoon 6 letters to post tomorrow. I also did little bits about the flat. The television is not too good on a saturday and sunday these days. and I am fed up with these tV programmes giving high pitched whistling and the police cars making a hell of a noise in the dramas on TV it goes right thorugh my head. I know I am getting old but it must affect others as well who have ear problems.?
George I hope you have a great holiday and get good weather that is the main thing when you go on holiday. I think Marilyn must be in NY now she was going to fly off to San Franciso then.
Goerge what a lovely thing to say about us on this thread Linda my daughter works for the Government and she goes to her office in Hook on a Monday there use to be a golf course there years ago is it still there ?
I am looking forward to the wedding as the family will be together I have not seen my Grandson who is in the RE regiment he has been all over the place twice in Afganistan, Iran then South Africa we phone and write but it must be five or six years since we have met up.he will be in his dress uniform for the wedding. I said I wonder if my other Grandsons will appear in their policemens uniforms lol they said no way they are in Top hats and tails. Georgias father will be in top hat and tails but he has still not recovered from, his cancer so I hope he has a good day on the day and not feeling ill.
well I am away now I have been watching a drama on Chanel 4 Nelsons Navy back from the dead.about the 19th century life at sea. but it got a bit cruel and i had to leave it for a bit. but it is life as it was.
Love Rita
