Morning Marilyn and Linda and all the others who log on later. Marilyn I would like to see you with your dust pan in you hand have you got a pinney ond and a scarf for your head LOl. Linda i hope things go well today I think you will need a long long long holiday after this wedding. all the worry and rushing about and it is over all too soon, you wonder afterwards why all the rushing about. till the next time it happens. three times it happened to me the trouble was I made all the Wedding cakes three tiers and did all the catering myself for 150 each time( did a Buffet, ) then we had more come fro the evenig so had another buffet. I made the bridesmaids dresses as well but not the brides.I only have one daughter and two sons but I still got lumbered with their wedding cakes and buffets
the son who married twice they went to St Lucia for there wedding an d none of the family went we had a reception when they came home. she did the catering but I still did the cake.. My son was telling me their cat I mentioned had to have an operation cost him £520 he said it is wobbling about and trying to get a collor off its neck

Hi everybody.
I haven't had any of those phone calls Rita, but we aren't in the phone book - so that might make a difference.
Rita, you've just put a picture in my mind of Marilyn dressed as Hilda Ogden......LOL
Don't make too many cups of tea Marilyn, you might chip your nail varnish.
It's a lovely day for a BBQ Linda, it's mad hot here.
Mo, I think your son's in for a rough time with that girl. I don't know how you manage to keep your mouth shut.
The more I read about Liz's OH, the more I'm sure she's living with my idiot ex husband.
Shelly I think you'd better come up with a good plan to rescue Liz and get her out of there quickly. Don't forget we need to take our own food, there won't be any spare at the wedding.

Pauline someone on the thread I put out was exdirectory and she had them and I was surprised at how many have had the same call I had. I have had a few PM from people telling me they have as well. and they were nice to tell me not give any bank card or other numbers out to them. I would not do that anyway. Pauline now you mentioned it Hilda Ogden had the same colouring of Marilyn when she was younger . Lol I am sure Marilyn has rubber gloves on when she does her house work. I was in Waitrose getting some salad stuff this morning and they have a BBQ counter and there were quiet a few people there buying stuff for their BBQ over the weekend. I am having a salad for my lunch today as it is warm I dont fancy anything hot I feel sorry for MO having to have a daughter in law like that I have one that is a bit self centered. she is OK one minute and not the next.but I dont see her that much which is a good thing. no rows .Poor Liz isnt doing much better is she trouble is they say you dont know someone till you live with them then it is often too late. Have a good day everyone and enjoy while you can

Rita.....Rubber gloves !!! . You mean my Marigolds !! LOL
Yes I wear them, whenever I do housework or gardening .
Broke one of my nails yesterday.......panic !! as I'm going to a party tonight . So I'll have to repair it myself........
Just admiring my garden I'm so pleased with my flowers this year. I might send you all my back field photo ,but don't think I'll send Mo it as she's allergic to rape seeds ...

Marilyn I bet that garden looks a treat I do miss mine , when I lived in Norfolk I spent so much time in the garden either working or sitting the lanws were too much for me to do so I had a gardener Steve he did it part timeas he had and another Job he was such a nice young man he had two daughters one was born with a hole in her heart so they spent a lot of time going to London fer the little ones trearment
since I left Norfolk just over 7 years ago he does it full time now.. I did all the rest myself except the tall apple trees and pear trees and the Plum.I had two ponds in the garden it was very large and a big greenhouse as well. I was told the man who brought my Bungalow got rid of most of the trees he left just one apple and the pear tree.did away with the ponds and the flowering bushes. he isnt a keen gardener. so I envy you your garden Marilyn Have a good time this evening at the party.
Love Rita

Hello all. I have already asked this question off Liz,on another thread. My son's fiance had her pregnancy confirmed at the family planning clinic. They have told her that she has to phone the midwife herself,to make appointments with her. I thought that it was arranged through the doctors. Has it all changed now, as when I had my lot,our doctor did everything for us. ie first appointment at the hospital etc. You may be the best one to answer this Shelly, being as Ollie is as young as he is.

evening everyone
phew it's been hot today
had another busy week, I tried to log on here a couple of nights ago but it said that the site was down, don't know what that was all about
had a small disaster Wednesday morning oh woke me up saying there was water coming down the walls from the loft so at 5am I'm standing under the loft hatch in me nightie with a large black sack while he is throwing down soaking wet loft insulation. Good thing he noticed the water, it could have been a lot worse. I now have the contents of the airing cupboard and wardrobe on the dinning room table. Had to wash a few things as they had got wet, now waiting for the walls to dry out and upstairs smells a bit.
Now he will have to do the decorating!!!! lol
and this morning my horse trod on my foot and it is black and blue and hurts like hell!

Hello Mo
it was the cold water tank, oh thinks the valve hadn't shut properly and the water didn't go out the overflow pipe cos it sags ( its quite a long plastic pipe) so the water come over the the top of the tank, will have to get a plumber to look at it sooner rather than later, we go on holiday in July and don't want it to happen again
Waiting for the third thing to happen!!!!

Mo I dont know if that happens in all aera's but it happens in many you have to ask the Midwife for an appointment and book her. we did in the 1950's in my area but I didnt need to call mine as I was rushed in quickly each time to hospital but things change and I think the Midwife needs to see how many she has on her lists .
Yvonne that was terrible what a blow. sorry about your foot tell you horse to were carpet slippers it wont hurt so much.
getting back to your water pouring from the ceiling. I live in a retirement flat and four years ago when l came back from staying over christmas with my daughter I went to bed early as I wasnt feeling too good and i heard what I thought was a dripping tap so I stagged out of bed to turn it off. only to find I was walking on a wet bathroom cvarpet. the flat above had sprung a leak. I had to put buckets under the ceiling. till 6 in the morning I went upstairs and told them, to pull their Anchor cord for help.after an hour no one came I had emptied three buckets by then. so I went back up and asked her did they tell you when they were calling it is an emergency my ceiling has now got a big hole in it. she said I didnt tell them it was an emergency. l thought it was just a little leak I said your husband saw it and the buckets. now I have to sit on the Loo with an umberella when I need to use the loo . l got intouch and they came with in 20 minutes. results half my ceiling down and a ruined carpet. so I would get your leak done as soon as possible. I didnt have to pay insurance as the leaseholder has that . I had to wait eight weeks before the plasterer came and did the ceiling and someone came and laid a new carpet. I dont want to go through that again. it was her bathroom pipe that ran across the ceiling that had burst. if I had not been there I would have been in an even worst state,

Lovely day today.
Have a great party last night met loads of people I had not seen for 45yrs !! one a young lovely man that took me home one night,......god glad it never went further ..LOL ..what a let down 45yrs has done to him, he's been living in Barbados most of his life on a high life !! and it showed .. Drink wow he could have drunk most of an English Channel.
So glad I stuck with my Pete ..LOL
Mo.. you mentioned your daughter in law pregnancy well I was speaking to a friend the other night on the phone and she told that her daughter now 40yrs is expecting her second baby .and she had to Pay £500 pounds private for the Amino test for Downs Syndrome because NHS do not provide it FREE any more. So too bad if you haven't got £500 to spare....
Off for me bath.....

I have been out in the little bit of front gardne I have and I mean little i is about two paving stones wide and is the length of my frontroom and kitchen no igger but I am shattered I had a big bag of weeds and old daffs I cut down two bushes that had over grown and the garden looks a lot better now. What a fabulous day we are all having today. I am all hot and sweaty. Just finished cleaning the kitchen, and cleaning my hob properly. It normally just gets a quick wipe after use,but I bet it thinks it's it's birthday. lol Better the devil you know Marilyn. Just think the ex would not have given you all the love and attention that Pete has. Unless it was from the bottom off a glass. When I was at work,my very first boyfriend came into the shop. Unfortunately, I had to serve him. What a tosser he turned out to be. His wife wears the pants in that house, and he's a yes love no love kind off man. Not for me I'm afraid,I like a man to be a man,not a woos. Latest update on son's fiance. He has to take her to the local drop in center at one-o-clock. She has had a bad dragging pain in the lower part off her abdomen, since she was here yesterday. As she was here for hours yesterday, and hadn't spent a penny,I asked her when the last time she had been to the loo,and she said not since going to bed the night before. So either she has got a water infection,or she has got an ectopic pregnancy,or she is getting ready to mis-carry. I do feel sorry for the girl, she was so pleased about the baby. It's just me being sceptical, thinking that they should have been better off financially before any off this happened. But hey ho accidents do happen, even though she was on the pill,it's not 100% safe is it.

Hi Mo, hope your son's fiancee is ok, maybe she isn't drinking enough water with this heat as she needs to wee frequently to keep any bugs at bay. O.h's son's fiancee wasn't feeling very well yesterday either, she had a tummy bug I think, but they were supposed to be doing a boot sale today so hope she is ok, not the best thing for a pregnant lady, standing about in the heat.
I have seen some of my exs and been glad I steered clear, lol, and the worse thing is that many of them have died, fairly young most of them under 55 or 60 so I could have ended up a youngish widow. Another has been married and is now divorced and the rest I don't know about, there were a few lol (before someone comments lol)
Better get out and help in the garden, it's too nice to be inside
Enjoy the rest of the day

What a gorgeous weekend it's been. The advantage with having a laptop is, I can sit in the garden admirring all the plants & flowers in the afternoon sun.
