Now have read all about these wedding and years. mine was 24./3/1951 I bet some of you were not even born then Lol
I married at a little church all my family had married in. and my sister and I had sung in the choir.
I had a wedding dress made by my mother who was a court dressmaker.it was white with long sleeves I also had a long veil and carried white and blue carnations (The material for my dress was brought with clothing coupons )
I had four brides maids and two page boys. .
My husband wore a suit and had long hair it was all the go then.
we did have a proper wedding cake.

You are right Rita
But what wonderful memories you must have such a family time and Mum making your dress too.
I would love to see a photo if you have one.
My parents married in 1950 as you all know and she wore grey silk by all accounts. Her coursage went from her shoulder to her waist !!!! But a very small weddding I think only their parents there.

Sleep well everyone

Maddie,

My wedding was the nearest my full family came to all being together at the same time.
Sadly two of my brothers were engaged in some trouble spot or other 'doing their bit'.
We had a great time that day and I would love to do it again.
Like you all the 'oldies' are now gone.........and all my family as well.

Is that Hoover locked away? I'm frightened.

Maddie
Why do weddings throw up so many family problems. My Dad wasn't going to come to mine !!

I have sent you a photo of my day.

If anyone else wants to see it let me know.

I will try tpo copy some more tomorrow if I find time after I've done the chores hubby has listed.:-

Wash kitchen floor
Ironing
Load green recycling bags with garden rubbish

I would like to get ready to go to friends for dinner too.

Oh well guess he has to leave home at 5:00 so he tries his hardest for us

Stephen
I too have gaps in the family groups now
My brother died aged just 22 years
All my grandparents are gone
All my great Aunts and uncles bar one have passed too.
Two Aunts one from each side of the family
But only my husbands mother 5 years ago.

We still have both my parents aged 82 as you all know and also my FIL aged 87 is still well and my husbands uncle now aged 90 came to my daughters wedding, though not so able now he has difficulty walking.

But I am from a big family and my parents have 13 grandchildren so will probably be more little ones in the future.

Linda,,

It's great to have an extended family. I have Great, Great, Nieces and Nephews.
No Aunts or Uncles now. And as you probably read on my posting all my brothers and sisters, 11 in total, now gone

I'm nobodys child, I'm nobodys child,
Just like a flower thats growing wild
No mothers kisses and,
No daddys smile,
Nobody wants me,
I'm nobodys child

What a happy bl***y song that is eh !

Where is that Hoover?

LindainBerkshire1736004

LindainBerkshire1736004 Report 20 Nov 2010 22:58

Well my hoover has done it's duty today and won't see the light of day tomorrow. Too much else to do.

Yes that song is rather emotional isn't it.

So sad that so many of your family have passed on, but they have left you to keep the family name going strong.

I still have my 2 sisters and 2 brothers. They all have children.
My husband has a brother and sister and they have children too.

Only my children are married and so far no new generation yet from 16 children altogether. Guess there will be one day The eldest is 31 my daughter and the youngest is my niece at 14.

Have a good sleep everyone see you in the morning off to bed now

Rita

Rita Report 21 Nov 2010 08:05

Morning Stephen
I would like to see that Rabbit tattoos on your head. would it not be better to have Hares tattooed on in stead..? you will get all the blood hounds and their riders running after you. Lol

Thanks for the breakfast.must admit I am not eating too much today, I am putting on too much weigh. it must be my head is getting bigger. all this jaunting about on broomsticks etc.

I think I need to climb a few mountains Ben Nevis perhaps to lose some of the weight.

Opened it............and I was right !

He's only 4' 6"

Stephen2009

Stephen2009 Report 21 Nov 2010 08:34

Rita,

Ben Nevis is easy if you stay on the tourist path. Watch out for the cliffs on the North face though......high and very dangerous.

Ben Nevis..... from the Gaelic......The Hill of Heaven.

It looks out to Loch Hourn......from the Gaelic....The Loch of Hell

A wee bit useless information

Daylight has arrived..........off to do my wee chores.....catch you later.

I remember walking around in maxi dresses as well Maddie, I also remember wearing skirts so short I was afraid to bend over. I wore a mini for my first wedding, and knee length white boots, don't think I have any photos though............think I binned them all when I got divorced.

Linda, can I have a look at your photos as well please?

It's good to look at old photos, even though the clothes make us wonder what we were on at the time.

I actually went to discos with flowers in my hair and loads of beads around my neck.........and I didn't look out of place.

I loved wearing huge platforms, it felt great being tall.

Rita, I was 9 months old when you got married.

Stephen, that breakfast was lovely, I enjoyed the black pudding and the white pudding.............don't think I'll be hungry again till about 8pm.

Hi Pauline
It's on its way.
Hope you are well today everyone
I managed to fill two recycling bags with garden stuff, mainly bamboo and some shrubs like fuchias and spirea. It was cool but not cold and actually dry, but it never really brightened up all day. Getting dark already.
I did manage the kitchen floor too so hubby will be pleased as he has been working hard too.
