Rita, is there any word yet about your granddaughter? I hope she'll be OK.

Maddie, those photos looked really cold even though the snow wasn't that deep. Are you sure you were in your son's bedroom when you took them? Seemed like you'd taken them from the roof.

Errrr, where's the chef this morning?

No sign of Jean either, I hope you had a good sleep Jean.

Edit: Are you all still in bed?

Come on, get up and clear the snow away, it ain't going to melt.

I would sing to wake you all up but GR took my musical notes away.

Tea or Coffee

Porridge, Cereals, Hot Bacon Rolls.

\_/ A wee Malt whisky for me or anyone else that needs one.

Who the 'H' Whoooooossssssssshhhhheeeeeeddddddd all the snow back to me ?

Been out since before 6am digging away at all the new fallen snow.

Although it's a real nuisance the beauty of it all never fails to amaze me.

It was sparkling like millions of diamonds in the faint moonlight. Lovely.

Mo. I hope your son was suitably prepared for being stranded. And that he managed to get home eventually.

Pauline.......one of many......never........would I two time any of you ? ROFL

Heading off fairly soon once full daylight arrives.

BUS PASS..........Whats that ? Loads of buses pass me.

Our cars are coping well with this weather. I always give them a full service
toward the end of October in preparation for the Winter. Anti Freeze levels have to be high to cope with our very low temperatures at times.

Marilyn did a runner on me last night and Mrs Stephen called me home for my supper at the same time. Just when things were getting exciting.

Ah well......some you win.....some you lose.

Hope you manage to cope with another day stuck indoors Pauline. What other option do you have ? None. Although you are well experienced it certainly won't get any easier for you.

Hey Ho......off I go.

Have a good day ya all !

Morning everyone,
Still no snow down here in cold Exeter. I've been a member of GR since May last year.
I'm sat at my desk waiting to start work in a mo.
It's playtime at 1.00.
Fried brekkie. That sounds nice. In my dreams!

Morning from a freezing north London.

I sent the photos to Pauline. My sons bedroom is right at the top of a four storey house. So yes, very high up. On 5th November and 1st January we all pile up there and watch the fireworks from the Thames. Saves us going out and coming home in the cold. It is very bleak here. More snow expected today apparently.

Yes please Stephen. Neil Oliver served up on toast this morning would be lovely. Just give his hair a bit of a comb before you do.

Hope everyone is well and warm.

See you later all.

Morning all.
Well my son managed to get home at 12.30 a.m. He and a work colleague, both had to abandon their cars, luckily the three of them left in convoy, and the boss bought them home.
But considering they left at 3.00 p.m yesterday afternoon, it was a nightmare.
Shelly and Maddie you will probably know where they had to abandon the cars, it was over by Shooters Hill, going towards Black Heath.

Marilyn, Gatwick airport is closed today, I just hope your flight home does not cause you problems.

Well folks, from one bored housebound person to you's others, keep smiling, it can't last forever.

At least he got home safe (eventually), that's the main thing.

Rita Report 1 Dec 2010 11:33

Morning all.
I thought Marilyn came to Heathrow airport they were still flying from there. , they had the machines working full out to make sure. I told Marilyn this morning what they had been doing as I thought she was going there. she didnt mention in her email what airport she would be landing at.
She will feel the cold when she get in to England..

My son had a four wheel drive and said he would never have managed to get to and from work without it.. many were stranded on the M3 which he uses.
Guildford was at a stand still late evening so I was told this morning. It is cold here but no snow the gritt put down by the gardeners yesterday did the trick.but it is still a bit icy in patches. I am not going out today. the man in the above flat is 88 and he is getting me a some bread which I am out of. he even took my washing in to the laundry room and put it into the machines and did it for me I didnt expect him to do that. I thought he was going to put it into the washer as he was taking his washing out. but he did it all. I felt terrible guilty about it.

I hope everyone is careful when they go about today.
take care
Rita

I know Pauline, but what does worry me, is how is he going to get to work tommorrow, and if his car has been impounded. He had to leave it at the roadside,so I don't know what the regulations are where he left it.

Have you got your earplugs in, to drown out Brents music. LOL

Ooops sorry I nearly missed you Rita. Any news yet on the little one yet.

Morning all
Not too bad here this morning.
Little M is here again but quiet, she hardly slept last night and kept her Mum up too.
Hubby has just left early as he has to attend a meeting................ the airport management is mad. The M3 sounds horrendous this morning a police incident one way closed junction 2 to 3 towards us early today. And the opposite dirrection has one and a half hours jams going towards the M25.
He has emergency clothing and wellies in his bag, to be left in the boot all winter incase he gets caught like last year.Just thought I should add a blanket tomorrow you just don't know.
Keep warm everyone
I am still confined to barracks so will be fine, except like Pauline going stir crazy keeping on saying "don't scratch stop itching etc etc"

Linda :o) XxX

PS Rita you are right Marilyn is coming into Heathrow. Does anyone know when? I offered for hubby to get her a warm coat, gloves and scarf and meet her thereLOL

Hello Pat sorry I didnt see you right at the top of the board, I saw the P and thought it was Pauline anyway welcome to the friends thread. we are a lot of nutters at times but we are all good sports and help each other out when we can.,

No have not heard from Stacey about Megan this morning but the hospital are usually busy in the mornings.

Linda I watched the way they worked on keeping the flight paths open at Heathrow they had a sprinkler that deforsted then they had buffs that took of the water surplous water then they had a scrapper and then finally a car went out testing the flight path,

My Granddaughter who lives in Dorset is getting married in September and he is a flight controller at Heathrow but they moved them to Dorset so it all take place from there now It is a strenous job.but he has been there years and just been promoted

I am not sure I thought she said at the end of this week..

Hubby works at Heathrow, about 25 miles from our home and takes him about an hour to get in usually.
Worse since they opened T5 and he has to park beyond the terminal and then get bus and train to where he works Mad eh.

Little is having a nap now, after giving her some anti itch medicine that made her shudder don't think it tasted very nice.

Have a good afternoon.

Wish I'd seen the programme about the de-icing Rita, but you described it well

Hi All,

Linda I misunderstood you about hubby meeting me at the airport !! I thought you said MY hubby ..... that's why I replied but he's with me ..LOL

Linda .....Yes tell YOUR hubby a hot water bottle would be nice as well , and can he arrange VIP treatment with all the trimmings like a cooked breckie to warm us up .
On the coach back home I have bought a lightweight blanket from USA one of those that has no weight but are very warm I'll have to wear a pair of Petes socks with my sandals gonna look like an old Grannie ......well I am a Grannie .......
Dont want much do I ...LOL

We get back at 7am Tuesday morning...Heathrow .if we are allowed !!

My neighbour woke us up early today ....he was putting his trousers on and broke his TOE !!!!!!!!! now how on earth he did that I'll never know, apparently he put pressure on his foot to the ground when he put his foot through the trouser leg ....not ever heard of that one before.
Now he's gone to the Emergency Hospital as he bleeds quite easily with his medication.
So we are waiting for some news as to weather he needs us to drive his car home as his wife drove him there but she's a nervous wreck to start with ..
