Mandy, Jane might have lock jaw :-D :-D :-D

Bright and sunny here now, but that wind is enough to blow you away. Being so small I have to be careful ;-) ;-) ;-) (well I think I am )

Sat reading and my eyes got all heavy and half hour later I came to again, I wonder what happened there. !!

Ann I didn't know that were paintings. I thought they were your wonderful photo's SORRY. I wish I had a talent of some sort. :-( :-( :-(

Judge Rinder's on in a Mo. I just love his expressions, he has me in fits of laughter.

Ruby

Ruby Report 31 Mar 2015 15:01

Hello all,

I didn't realize that Anne had painted that either Frank. What a clever clogs she is.

I loved the pictures in the e-mail you sent Frank - beautiful.

My old Lucy has lots of bumps and knobs too Mandy. She is 15 now, but still runs like a mad thing occasionally. I'm a bit concerned about her throat though - she has a hard time chewing anything hard. It could be to do with her teeth. She's due for her rabies shot soon, so the vet will give her a check up then.

I have been very busy outside for weeks. I work for an hour and then come in to rest for several hours :-( I jumped the gun a bit and planted some herbs about a week ago. Of course we had a late frost two nights ago and it killed the 3 plants of basil, even though I had covered them all with pots. I also have oregano, parsley and cilantro, and they were okay. I have English peas growing and sewed seeds of mesclun (for salad).

Have also been VERY busy with family tree. I ordered pay to view from Wiltshire, some old Wills of ancestors and am having a great time trying to decipher them. The oldest is 1552. Henry's son Edward was on the throne. That really puts it into perspective. This ancestor had lived through King Henry V111's reign, also from Catholicism to Anglicanism. (Do I need the ism's)? I've learned that they used certain strokes for letters, such as th and sh. Reminds me a little of Pitman's shorthand :-D Anyway, I'm struggling through it. The most recent one was 1874 so it's easy to understand, and has given me many new leads.

I've been laying edging blocks all around the front pathway, and at the same time digging out clumps of ornamental edging plants and replanting. It takes me ages, but I'll get there.

I do read all the posts, but I'm afraid I can't retain things for long. I'm glad your mum is well again Gill.

I've been working on the garage too. I got rid of lots of stuff when hubby died, but had to get it organized again. My middle son is going to move in with me for a while and has a fancy car that has to be inside. I have a two-car garage so we should be fine.

Am going to sign off as message keeps sliding away!

Afternoon All,

Well the wind reached here too in the night and today has been a real mix of sun, wind, hail and rain. I got caught in a hail storm when I went to post something at the post box at the end of the close. :-S

Well that's the best kind of compliment Frank if you thought it was one of my photos and not a painting of one!! lol. I hope you realised the windmill I sent a while back was a painting too and not a photo!

It was only the size of a postcard Mandy so didn't need much paint. I did wonder if I needed a trip to specsavers when I did it though.......... quite small and fiddly to do.

Jane might be at Fitz's as he told me he might have to call on her 'expertise' to print off some things that I sent him.

OH is off to a match later, but I am in for the day now and finishing off a necklace we started at class last week.

The BT saga continues, an engineer called this morning, did the same as the last one, looked for a BT line couldn't find one and went away, I am now waiting for them to come back dig up my patio to lay a new line, I really wish I hadn't bothered now. They say things come in threes, looked out the back and two fence panels are laying in next doors garden, and to finish it all off my iron has blown, and I was only recently singing the praises of M**phy R**chards. Aaah well, worse things happen at sea as my dad used to say.

Haven't gone on to my e.mails yet so am looking forward to seeing Ann's painting.

Yes, we've usually heard from jane by now

Still home alone (BLISS) I have done exactly what I have wanted (NOTHING) I have read, dozed, watched a bit of NAT GEO, and read again.

I have prepared part of the curry for tonight. Boiled the gravy with onions for the base. Stripped the Chicken carcase , and chopped it up. Ros will finish it off later (when she gets home)

Sky is as black as your hat..

Ros had just arrived home as the sky opened, we got soaked getting in the shopping and beer, plus plants (OF COURSE)

Nice to hear from you Ruby, take care with what you are doing, all this hard work. Why don't you get your Sons to do it ?? If like mine, you might as well try to fly to the moon, to get any help :-D :-D :-D

It looks like this weather is set in for the evening. I will be watching the football in the conservatory tonight, so no need to go out.

Ann, you really should get some prints made from your paintings. They would sell in the garden centre. Why don't you ask them if they would be interested. ???

The sun is out now, it's so bright, you can't see anything it's just a blur. !!!

Still no LADY JANE. ??

Frank, someone already has their paintings up on the garden centre cafe walls. They also have cabinets with someone's jewellery on display too! I have only painted just a few things since I started, so I'm not really prolific enough! I have to be in the right mood to do it. :-)

I hope you soon feel better Jane. I felt a bit iffy yesterday, and had to 'trot' a couple of times, but have been fine today.

Yes Maureen, it's acrylic paint. I don't think I would dare use any other paint as I'd be bound to mess it up! What a palaver with your BT line. Did you not have one before then? Now the fence panels down too and your iron blown! It's not been your week up to now has it.

You are making good progress with the jackets Mandy, the biggest nearly done already! I hope your lightning isn't heading this way!

Liz, that would be lovely to get another dog after your visitors have been. There must be such nice country walks where you live. :-)

Ruby, you seem to have spring fever with all you have been doing!! It does sound like Lucy's mouth may be bothering her so it will be good the vet will be able to check her out. The old wills must be very interesting and ,as you say. they can give you new leads! :-)

Mel, that's not good the deer eating your rose bushes! Did you see Countryfile and those cows heading straight for the gorse to eat when they were let out. You'd think animals would hurt their mouths and gums on prickly stuff.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 31 Mar 2015 22:17

The deer eat the holly too Ann. Once I planted a yellow berried holly outside the wall on the right hand side as you go out the arch, It was three feet high when I planted it and it disappeared a week after I planted it with just a stick out of the ground which never grew.

They love the fruits on the japonica too so I don't get those to use in the house as they smell wonderful when ripe. Fill the room with a lovely scent.

Ruby has been a busy girl. The only thing I have growing at the mo is a few lettuce plants in pots in the shed. It is much too cold to go outside for me at the moment. I only go to the chickens, bantams, bird house to feed the wildies and the shed. Not touched the border yet and things are starting to grow andI hav'nt cut the old growth off yet.

I don't watch Country File till Saturday night when there's nothing on the telly.

Sorry to hear your not up to scratch Jane and hope you feel better tomorrow. Wishes to you. <3

Did one lot of washing late morning and it nearly dried but the suns been out most of the day with a very strong cold wind.

Mandy I am glad you have nearly finished the first of the little jackets for the girls which means my hedgehog will be next on the list. I had a look online at knittedhedgehogs and there was a smashing one with a worm in it's paws. It had teddy like little eyes and it did make me laugh. If you google knitted hedgehog with worm you will be able to see it.

I hav'nt started feeding my hogs yet Frank but think I must start soon as there are more signs of them in the garden. Must clean out the ark tomorrow weather permitting.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 31 Mar 2015 22:21

Went to collect our green box from up the top today. It was'nt there or any sign of it up the road or over the field. I shall have to ring them and ask for another one. It was smashed on the corner anyway and I do have another.

Maureen sorry to hear your good old friend your iron has conked out and two panels down in the garden. Not good when your son has moved away!! I bet your iron had given you good service over the years and earned it's keep. Lets hope a new one will last as long if not longer.

Signing out now so see you all in the morning.

Night night.

Morning all, evening Kim,

Nice bright sunny morning here but we still have the wind, I don't know if rain is expected today, but I bet it will.

Was awake again at 5.00 this morning. I thought NO I am not getting up yet, so went through many things in my brain and got up at 6.30 am I am sure the clock change has something to do with it !!!

I hope Jane is feeling a bit like herself this morning, it's not like her to be under the weather.

Where's Gill, or have I missed her also.

I have my friend from BEN coming tomorrow morning for his visit. We will put the world to right over a couple of coffees. Ros will be at "Stitchery Do" from 10.00 till 3.00 tomorrow at the Scouts Hut.

It's repeat prescription time again, so that will have to be at the doctors today for Friday collection, or I will be without "sleepers" over the weekend. I still have a couple of weeks of my usual medication.

Blossom trees are all out in the neighbours gardens, the big Cherry tree is in bud, so won't be long behind.

See you all later.

April Fools day today and a pinch and a punch for the first of the month.

We have sunshine again but I hav'nt been out yet so don't know what it's like out there or if its windy. Look like there is some wind and I HAVE A LOAD OF washing to go out. O I shouted then sorry. Did'nt mean to must have caught the cap lock with my nail.

Hope Jane feels better today and it was just one of those 24 hour things.

Se you later...... :-D

Morning/Evening All
I feel more like myself this morning thanks Frank.I'm doing a fair bit of sniffing and my eyes feel weird. But I think it is the dreaded Hay Fever thing.I will have to take the Zirtec each day I think instead of odd days and see if that me feels any different.I never used to be affected at all by pollens etc.Hannah suffered terribly as a child and I was often called into school to bring her home.

I am going to go and get a bit of food shopping now .So will BB about mid morning :-)

Gillx Report 1 Apr 2015 12:05

Afternoon all

It's still very windy here and the night before last was terrible, it was so windy it blow the garage door open, I had quite a shock when I got up and saw it. I though someone had broken in. I think it's because OH forgot to lock the garage before we went to bed and the wind must of pushed the handle open, luckily the door is ok. I thought it might of got bent with it banging around but it seems ok.

I visited my mum yesterday, she's still not quite right and now thinks it's because the doctor took her off her beta-blockers. She rang the doctor to see if she could go back on the tablets but he said no as she has a further test on her heart on the 15th April and it will effect the test.

I had a shock a couple of nights ago mum's friend had tried ringing mum and couldn't get an answer so rang me to see if everything was alright. I was so worried I nipped round to mum's to find her in the back room totally oblivious of the fact that her friend had been trying to ring as she hadn't heard the phone go. I said to her to take the phone in the other room with her next time so she doesn't miss anymore calls.

The drain are still blocked and since we've had all the rain it seems to be worse. OH used the rods but said it was right at the end of the drive where the road is. He's tried a few time using the rods but still can't seem to unblock it, he's also tried to unblock next doors drains too. Looks like it's going to be another call to the water board.

Glad to hear you're feeling better today Jane. I'm starting with a bit of hay fever, it's horrible isn't it. I'm not one for popping pills but with the pollen I don't get a choice. Looks like we'll both be dosing ourselves up throughout the summer months.

I was hoping to get into the garden yesterday but the weather was terrible it was like a monsoon. I looked out of the kitchen window when the weather was at it's worse and it was like being in a car wash, you couldn't see out of the window with all the rain and hail. Now the ground is to wet to walk on, so no gardening here yet.

I love the painting Ann you are so clever. I thought it was a photo too. I wish I could paint. I can do a very good stick man, if that counts :-D :-D :-D.

What a horrible thing to go through, losing your purse like that. You were lucky they found it and were honest about it by telling you. Fancy the garden centre not checking inside the purse to see if there were any clues as to who it belonged to. Anyone could go and collect it and the garden centre wouldn't know if it's the right owner or not.

Sorry to hear about little Abbey Mandy, it's so sad when a pet has to be put down. they are part of the family and will be sadly missed.

How lovely Ruby to have all those old wills to read through. It must be so exciting. I love coming across new people in Wills and the like, then trying to work out who they are. It's like being a detective and very rewarding once you worked out all the clues and have new people on your tree.

Doesn't sound like you're having much luck lately Maureen. At least that's the 3 things so hopefully nothing else will go wrong for you. It is strange how you have the internet but no phone line. Maybe they won't charge you, that would be a stroke of good luck for you. <3 Have you tried to see if the phone works you might get that for free too. :-D :-D, see there's always a silver lining.

Off to get some lunch now
BBL <3

Frank Report 1 Apr 2015 13:55

What a fool I felt this morning. After Shower and shave I decided to walk to the Dr's with the scripts. and asked if Ros could pick them up Thursday when she comes to see the Dr. "I don't think we will be able too Frank as we have loads to do" and we will be closed FRIDAY to TUESDAY with Bank Holiday OH sh#t I said, I will be out of sleepers. I could have bit my tongue off,!!! and apologised for the slip of the tongue :-D :-D. They just laughed, and said they would make sure my sleepers were ready. I didn't realise this weekend was Bank Holiday. I think when you are retired one day is the same as any other.

Glad you are feeling a bit better Jane, at least you know what it is. I will have to check out if I have hay fever as I am sneezing up to 20/30 times in one session and I can have two or three a day.

Gill It seems a job for the Council or "DYNO ROD" Would your neighbour be prepared with any cost if you have to get it done privately ???

Don't apologies MEL, I am always shouting, It's the only way to be heard <3 <3 <3

Ros is pondering the idea of putting out her washing. It's bright at the moment, but doesn't look like it will stay dry for long. :-( :-( :-(

Maureen

Maureen Report 1 Apr 2015 14:33

Better make sure she pegs out the undies securely Frank or they will end up in someone elses garden ;-) The wind is still very strong, not as bad as yesterday though. I have just been out in the garden and done what my ex used to do, tie everything up with string. I hope it lasts at least until I can get the fence redone, if son's not around I will have to get someone in, will cost a bit though, the garden is pretty long. I am covered in scratches, I have a cottoneaster in front of one of the fence panels and I was trying to get my arms through to tie it up.

My irons never last even a year Mel, they usually end up going back for repair but stupidly I have lost the receipt for this one, I have no spare now and can't wait two or three weeks for it be repaired anyway so have had to get a new one, receipt safely filed away.

Glad to hear you are feeling better Jane, I don't envy you or Gill suffering hay fever, it can strike anyone at any age.

If your anything like me Ann you will think your paintings aren't good enough to put on sale besides that it's not the same when you are painting for money rather than just for pleasure.

Looking forward to seeing the first jacket Mandy, you did that quick.

Is it warmer than here Ruby, I haven't really ventured out in the garden much and as Mel said it is still too cold to be planting outside, I'm not going to bother with veggies this year, never seem to have much of a crop, shall just stick to flowers this year.

Suns gone here and it is much colder and the sky is now grey with a cold wind.

When are we going to get a nice warm windless day so we can get out there and do some serious gardening?

Been working on those blown eggs.
