Afternoon All,

I see it is you with 'old ageitis' today Frank. You are right though about all days seeming the same when you are retired. The only reason I know when it's Saturday is because of OH's footie. It's good you will get your sleepers before the holiday though.

I bet that's what it is Jane.....pollen! I must check whether I can take anti histamines with my beta blocker. I'll be a mess this year if not! I'm wondering if my scratchy throat has been the pollen as it never developed into a sore throat. OH starts sneezing when we go round any flowers in garden centres, but the sun also makes him sneeze so I'm not always sure which is the cause sometimes..

Maureen I staple any receipts for things to the instructions now so I can't lose them. You must need yours for your tax return too so it is a nuisance when they go missing. What kind of iron did you get to replace it? Like you and Mel, I've done NOTHING outside yet!! Yes, like you, I can't imagine anyone wanting to buy anything I've painted. :-S

Gill, how awful you still have blocked drains. If the blockage is outside your boundary, the water board should sort it out as you say. Those 'stick man' paintings are worth a fortune, especially if they have the name 'Lowry' on them. ;-) Your mum might be better with a phone with an amplifier Gill. Does she hear the doorbell ok? At least she doesn't do the sort of things my mum would do and go away for a few days without telling us!! We would ring a few times over a couple of days, no answer, so go round, no answer at the door and wonder whether to break the door down!! When she was back she would be most put out and huffy if you said it might be an idea to let someone know when she went away. I visited her most weeks so it would be easy to have told me.

I'm wishing I'd done some of my piles of washing and put it out now as it is lovely and sunny. It forecast rain as well. :-S

Hi all

Just watched Sport Life Stories about John Barnes, it was really interesting. It brought back some memories of when I used to watch him play for Liverpool in the 80's. They were filming him coaching youngsters at West Kirby which is just down the road. John Barnes lives by us and we often see him around the shops.

The weather is sunny today but still quite windy and cold. I keep looking out into the garden, planning what I'm going to do once the ground is dry enough to work on. I'm hoping to make some larger borders this year and plant a few more trees.

Yes it looks like we'll have to call someone out to fix the drains, OH is pretty sure it's in the street as he's had the rods down both ours and the neighbours drains with no success. I'm pretty sure if we're wrong and there is a blockage between us then next door will help with the costs.

That was quick knitting Chelsea's jacket Mandy, it won't be long before they're all finished.

I don't have a problem getting into my mum's place Ann she has a code on her door with spare keys so if she needs to press her emergency button and can't open the door herself they can let them selves in as can any emergency services. So there's always keys available to use should we need to. She is deaf in one ear so had her computer speakers up quite loud while she was playing her games and just didn't hear the phone. I'm hoping she takes her phone into the back room next time she's in there. It's just a case of weather she remembers or not.

I started with a sore throat yesterday and it's pretty bad today so I'm going to take something for it and get a drink. I thought it was the pollen when I went out yesterday but I've been in all day today so I guess it's not pollen related.

Itchy throat/ears,eyes that don't feel like they belong to me and a bit itchy, and feeling sh** all points to Hay fever :-S :-S....I was watching a big Woodpidgeon just now who is nesting in the conifers at the side of the house. It did a big shake and fluffed all the feathers up,AND THE DUST that came out was incredible..It looked like a big cloud :-S :-S
I use Opticro* eye drops before I go to sleep and then when I wake..Being to feel and sound like a hypochondriac now .Sorry :-S...I never could understand why Hannah said she used to feel ill /tired and just not right...Now I can.

Frank I bet you haven't been the only person not to realise the Surgery will be shut for the next few days.Bet the little slip of the tongue wasn't a problem either. You should have heard me at the Theatre on Saturday.....It started suddenly with a big bang, and that word just flew out of my mouth !!!!!!!!..I couldn't stop it lol..It trips off the tongue too easliy :-D

OH dear Maureen that will be a big expense for one of those Irons you use. It's not your normal bog standard one is it.(can't think of the name).Plus fixing your fence panels too :-S...We were so lucky with no damage at all in the gales.

Gill am I right in thinking there is a fine line between property and pavement?(where the drains join)..I hope that the blockage is the responsibly of the Water board and not you.You can't keep living with drains like that can you as it will probably just get worse.
We have a very slow draining drain from the house out to the road(it goes very slightly up hill :-S :-S) How stupid is that.We have been told not to use any toilet paper that is quilted(after a blockage) or put anything down the toilets other than just normal loo paper. Not even anything that says 'flushable'...They might flush but won't disintegrate ,and then that is when trouble can occur.

Ann I went to see Fitz today.Chris printed off all that Will as Fitz was having trouble with his laptop so he now has it all again :-D :-D Fitz has a right stinker of a cold.....I didn't stay too long :-D

Ooh Liz....I hope you get another dog :-D.I do wish Chris would agree to having one .
I heard someone in town talking to a friend, and I heard the words"you haven't lived unless you have had a dog" :-D :-D

Not a bad day here, windy with sunshine and brief showers! We've both been gardening on and off for a few weeks now particularly weeding!! OH has rotavated the veg patch so we can get son to help us to move the veg cage in the interest of 'crop rotation'! The flower bed and grass all look quite neat and tidy, but there's still plenty to do at the back and of course Merlin's field, the barn, and Merlin's yard! Should keep us busy for the summer!!
Quick trip to Waitrose this am to buy some last minute goodies for the family at the w/end. We were really glad to have done the bulk shop last week as it was HEAVING!!!!
Chicken in white sauce tonight with rice. Nice easy supper with not too much clearing up!! Fish pie on Good Friday Jane, I know how you love it !!!!!! Another dog is certainly being given serious thought Jane, and we've been exploring insurance and thinking about holiday care and so on. We saw a sweet puppy today, and it nearly wagged it's tail off when we bent down to say hello! So, who knows!!

Maureen

Maureen Report 1 Apr 2015 17:22

I'd be hopeless at one of those dog shelters Liz, how can you resist those puppy dog eyes. As Ann said you probably have some lovely walks around your way and what good exercise, I will stick with my cats though, there are a few parks here but no nice country walks.

I thought I might have put the receipt with the instruction manual Ann but no, it will probably turn up now I've bought a new one it is a M**rphy R***ards and I was just singing their praises before this one gave up, too late now, I put it outside a couple of hours ago and it has gone already, how do they manage to see these things so quickly. I can always claim the new one back on my tax return, so far they haven't asked to see any receipts.

Just seen the time must be off soon to take the ironing back.

Liz Chris went to Waitro** this morning and i just asked him to get one thing..The favourite deboned Chicken that we all love..........He got everything HE went for........but FORGOT the blooming chicken :-| :-| :-|
Ooh Fish Pie :-) :-P..Not for me Liz as you know lol I have bought some lightly dusted Haddock :-D

I have just been watching some foreplay and sex ............on the summerhouse roof between two Wood Pidgeons...Didn't last long and the poor female is looking around at her rear end as though to say "What happened there then" ???? They are now at each end of the roof have a wash and brush up LOL...
Chris will home shortly from the cinema in Northampton. It was the film with Sub titles I didn't want to go to.........Oh he has just arrived better go

:-D

Now you see Jane why we both go together!!! OH on his own is willing, but even with a list can come back with the wrong flavour/ make!! I sent him to the village shop for new potatoes last week and he came back with a bag of old ones!!!!
Maureen, the puppy we saw was with it's owner out side Waitrose!! Going round the homes is difficult as you feel so awful leaving the others behind! We would love another cat, but after last years 'tragedy', we wouldn't have a minutes peace worrying about the road, so we've decided against it.
Sorry I can't tempt you Jane!!!!

Jane Report 1 Apr 2015 18:02

I don't think I could bare going to another animal shelter. The last one we went to I just sobbed my heart out all the way round. That was years ago now when I found my dear old Dodger.I remember being allowed to take him for a walk and we both sat on a bench .I had my arm around him and told him he was soon going to be in a happy home .He was a Retriever X and a lovely gentle soppy old date.
Now Chester was a different kettle fish LOL He was Bonkers .But I loved him to bits and still miss him terribly :-(.....He was so excitable at the age of just a few weeks when we found him at a rescue place..Should have realised then he was going to be HYPER ACTIVE !!

Maureen it is so annoying when you think you have a receipt and just can't find it !!!
I have done that so many times

Evening all,

Still quite windy here and it's now looking like rain big black clouds about ,i did get the washing all dry in the nice blow but had to really peg then on well.

Your not the only one to forget it's the easter weekend Frank i did too and i should have remembered with the children on holiday , it's also DIL's birthday on Monday and i haven't bought a thing yet ,i usually get some bits and pieces for her to open and then we give her some money.

Mel it will be a little while before i start the hedgehogs i still have two jackets to knit ,the girls were asking if i had finished them !! :-D

Hope you can get your drains sorted out soon Gill, it's a nuisance when the loo blocks up ,i get worried in case it comes over the top :-0

I think i must start taking my hay fever tablets ,my eyes have been really itchy the last few days ,i suppose this wind doesn't help it must blow all the pollen about even more .

Liz, i went shopping this morning to Te*co's and it was heaving in there too, there were trolleys piled high with stuff ,it took me ages to get through the checkout .

That's a good idea Ann keeping the receipts for things pinned to the instructions , i usually keep them separate in one of those clear plastic folders ,i think i'll do it your way as it takes ages to go through all the receipts on their own they'd be easier to see pinned to the manuals .

Every time you mention those deboned chickens Jane i think i must try one ,they sound quite tasty .

We had a quick and early tea tonight.... Pizza with salad ,hubby has gone to look at a job .

Anyone doing much over the weekend ? i hope it's dry on sunday the little ones look forward to the Easter Egg hunt in the garden , every year there's always an egg left some where that doesn't get found until i weed the garden !!
Te*co is doing the car boot too on Sunday , might have a look and see if there's any garden toys for the children .
We also thought we might have a drive to the coast ,just got to pick the best day weather wise !!

Washing dried enough to iron so I did it!!!!!

Turned really cold here now and the wind is still blowing its head off and its now raining.

Been up the shop for a coupl eof bits and now I am going to corn the chickens and do dinner. Sheep Sh*t Pie.

Ann the sun makes me sneeze sometimes too. I have been doing it a lot lately so perhaps I am going to get hayfever in my later life. Mind you our box hedge is in flower and you know how big that is Jane and Ann.

Jane

Jane Report 1 Apr 2015 19:36

Sounds like a lot of us might be sneezing and snuffling with itchy eyes this year :-S
Yes that is a big hedge you have there Mel.

Mandy do you have a Waitros* near you? if you do the deboned Chicken is the one with a Sun blushed Tomato and Parmesan marinade. They do another one with Honey and Mustard but I don't think that is as tasty.

Tomorrow we are going to Poddington Garden Centre(Frank will know).Hopefully to find 2 nice pots for my Olive Trees which are at the moment in big plastic pots.

Dinner ready here ....(Not De boned Chicken :-S) But rolled Brisket ,oven roasted carrots, potatoes and Asparagus, and a pot of Spinach,Butternut Squash and something else(can't remember what).....lots of gravy :-D

We don't have a Waitr*se in the town ,our nearest one is in Swaffham which is only a few miles away.

Still windy and it's raining here now ,i just carn't seem to get warm tonight even with lovely fire .

Annx Report 1 Apr 2015 21:14

I think the sun sneezing is a different allergy to hayfever Mel so you may be ok. Yes, you do have a BIG hedge! I used to love getting the ironing done before it got too dry. It's easier to do and don't you feel good when it is all put away.

Mandy, it was when my washer went wrong under warranty that made me sort out my receipts and do that! I found the instructions with the phone number ok, but they wanted info off the receipt for it as well, so I then had a load of receipts to hunt through. I try and write serial numbers on the instructions as well now as they were on the back of my washer!! :-S The girls are keen to be wearing their new jackets aren't they. lol It sounds like you will have a busy bank holiday and I bet the children can't wait to go on their easter egg hunt in your garden. :-) We haven't anything planned yet, but I wouldn't mind going to a car boot as it's ages since I went to one.

We went and bought some of that (expensive!) anti mould paint to do the bathroom ceiling with in the summer. We have an extra powerful fan in there and keep the window open a lot of the time and take the towels out to dry them, but still get some mould spots on the ceiling above the window. I suppose with 2 hot power showers every day, sometimes more in the summer and OH's soaks in the bath, it isn't surprising. :-S It's no joke climbing on the stool to scrub them off.

We went in my car to B*Q in the city to get it. Well, I should have known better!! Why was I going this way, had I left enough room at the front when I parked, then when I went to pay at a checkout, he wandered off insisting the self serve would be quicker and wouldn't you just know it he was right!:-S Driving home he knew the way I was going would be busy with traffic, why didn't I cut round the back of the village (because I wanted to call at the co*op!!!), why hadn't I said (why did I need to!) and so it went on. In the end I said, 'do we have an appointment to get to, does it matter and do you prefer to walk home?' That shut him up. :-) I just let him get on with driving when I'm in his car, unless he forgets where we are going and tries to turn the opposite way. He often goes a longer route as he doesn't know the city like I do, but because I don't say anything he's obviously got the wrong idea about how good he is!! :-S :-S Methinks I'll be changing that the next few times we go out in his car. :-D ;-)

Morning all and evening Kim,

Not so nice here today. No sun and grey sky with a bit of rain in the air.

So are yo all ready for Easter??

Always a sad time for me as dad died on Good Friday 13th April 1979.

Frank Report 2 Apr 2015 11:56

Morning Chatter box's, Evening Kim,

I didn't get back on last night, but as always you always find so much to chat about.

My friend from BEN came smack on 10.00 am stayed for an hour. We put the world to right as usual. He was telling me he went to Prime Ministers Question Time last week. Very interesting day out. They all behave like a load of SCHOOL CHILDREN !!!

Ann You certainly have all the answers for your OH. I'm the back seat driver in our car. Ros often says "SHUT UP" or you will walk home :-D :-D :-D

Jane you should have come to Blisworth for your pots, they are/were so CHEAP.. Hope you get what you want anyway.

Maureen you certainly get through irons, like no one I know !!. That is a good idea of Ann's with the receipts.

We have the DOVES nesting in out big fir tree. I sat watching them this morning, in and out with little twigs. I suppose now they will be pooing all down the back of the car :-( :-( :-( That won't please Madam.

Mandy, I do envy you being able to pop to the coast like you do. It would take us three hours to get to Yarmouth.

It's a nice bright morning here today. NO WIND which is such a nice change, even though it's a bit overcast, it's feels warmer.

Liz, Ros and I have often talked about another Pet. but we feel that it would be a drag having to get someone to look after it when we go away, plus as I am in my late seventies who will have it when anything happens to me. ??? MORBID OLD BUGG~~, :-D :-D :-D :-D

Have two Easter Eggs for out old neighbours children, which I must see about getting them round to them.

Northing planned for Easter. Jan wanted us to go to Devon but we felt it was too far to travel. I might take Ros out for a meal. I rang one restaurant, it was on Answer phone. They never bothered to ring back, So they are off the list. Will find somewhere else.

Frank, that is a valid point about taking on another dog and one that we've chewed over at length. We're lucky as one of our two would take it over (We did with my parent's cat!) but even so, it might not fit the bill, or by then be inconvenient! so we too are weighing it all up carefully.
Sad for us too this weekend Mel as my mother's birthday is on Easter Sunday. She would have been 97 and died in 1986, so it's a long time ago now. OH and I will just raise a glass to her and my S-father (don't want him to feel left out!!!) who died eight months later, and leave it at that.
Family here early afternoon, middle grandchild is helping at the local riding stables this morning, they earn points for the help which goes against riding lessons, which seems a pretty good system, so they'll be here as and when!!!!
