Afternoon All,
Lots of snow here, but it's just fine stuff coming down now. As Jane says Sandra would have had a field day here with building snowmen!
I hope your cousin gets her PC sorted Mel. It's annoying when you can't send things. You have made a good start on your wreaths. I have been wrestling to put those lights on my artificial one this afternoon. If I understand the instructions, the first time you put the lights on, they stay on for 6 hours and then they go off for 18 hours so I need to make sure I switch them on at the right time.
We didn't go out for lunch today as OH gets flareups with his tummy at times and last night and today he's had pains and not wanted that much to eat. He did walk to the newsagent's to get my paper though as I thought that might help. So...it was look in the fridge for some 'IFFITS' for me for lunch! I found lamb shanks so had one of those with some cabbage, carrots and courgettes. There were potatoes, but I don't like to have those very often and the swede that looked good turned out to be going off in the middle although the outside was fine! :-S OH just had soup and has found footie to watch.
Our OH's would look good with their matching hats Jane! lol. :-D Thomas does a quick scoot across the snow to the hedge bottom doesn't he. He has a good coat on him to keep the cold out though. I bet you can't wait for BG to come tomorrow and sort your heating out now. Did they give you a time?
I love those British Blue cats Frank. They are quite chunky cats and have lovely eyes. I hope the Ragdoll takes to it but they are very laid back so will be accepting if a bit overwhelmed by a kitten's exuberance! I bet it will love the Christmas Tree!! Ros's Choir Concert must be popular to have sold out. Does she do any solo spots? My friend whose house we do beading at belongs to a choir. That was good of your neighbour to see if she could get anything for you.
Gill, if GR ever do ask you to change your password, the screen will tell you what to do and bring screens up for you to enter a new one. So Sandra is keeping an eye on the snow and willing there to be big flakes! It's a good idea to distract her with a film. Thanks for the reminder about Victoria as I shall want to record it.
I wonder who will be leaving Strictly tonight? I want Debbie and Joe to be in the final, but the public vote could make it anyone. In the professionals I do like Giovanni and Katya is so full of life!

It's going to take James a while to get home Jane if he's only moving at 5 miles an hour, hope he makes it home okay.
Thanks for letting me know how to change my password if I need to Ann. How is your OH hope his tum is okay, good idea to have something light to eat until he feels up to something heavier.
The snow did come down a bit heavier but still not enough to stick, the ground is so wet we would need a blizzard to cover our garden. Sandra is enjoying her films though so that's good. Looking forward to Strictly tonight too, like you said it could be anyone, they are all very good.

Ann our OH's could be twins with their HATS :-D I hope his tummy settles soon. How long do his flare ups last? Is it IBS?
Thomas has been a real Crazy Cat in the snow.Zig Zagging all around the lawn at a rate of knots LOL. That is when I really needed to get a video ,but he had finished by the time I came in for my phone :-S Now conked out again. James is home :-). He said he saw so many accidents and breakdowns on the way.At least he is home safe and sound now :-D I can relax. My battery lights are like yours Ann .On for 6 hours and off for 18. It is just getting the timing right so they come on and go off at the same time.I realy need to go and buy batteries tomorrow . I am not sure who I want to win Strictly ,but I would love Toff to win the Jungle. I think it is the final of that tonight. Someone has left a door open :-S :-S .....James :-S.I can feel a cold blast around my legs.

Oh I see James made it home okay Jane, that's good, but leaving the door open.....naughty boy ;-) ;-)
It sounds like Sandra might have some competition with Thomas as far as being excited with the snow, pity you didn't make it to your phone in time to take another video.

They would make a good pair Gill :-D :-D.... Now it is Chris leaving a door open :-S :-S James is going to have a bath before we eat. I have warned him that he can't have a deep bath as the water will run cold .I was going to have a shower this morning but the ensuite was so blooming cold I decided just to have a quick wash That was bad enough LOL. The toothpaste almost seemed frozen and took a bit of squeezing :-S
If I had got a video of Thomas doing whacky races in the snow it would have been so funny .He was leaping like a rabbit !! as he couldn't actually 'walk' :-D

Evening to you all,
Just finished dinner. I prepared , cooked it, and did a fair bit f washing up, saucepans and some dishes washed and dried and put away. Ros is doing the rest then we will sit and relax for the evening.
I just started eating my dinner when he phone rang. It was "BIGGLES" owner. Thanking us for having him for the two weeks. She started talking about how wonderful their holiday was. I cut her off by saying I am just starting my dinner. She said she paid Sarah the walker to look after him, as she knew she was short of money, and thought she was doing her a good turn.
We had a phone call from Jonathan, to see if we were o.k. and did we need anything. Very thoughtful of him.
We had more snow this afternoon. What it is doing now, I don't know. and to be honest I don't care.
Jan just rang to say she was home, and it's quite warm down in Paignton. She sent a message earlier to say they were having Breakfast on the beach, before setting off to the Airport. It was 18 degrees and sunny. I won't say what I thought !!!
Enjoy Strictly and the Jungle. See you in the morning. xxx

Well I was surprised to see snow here this morning when I woke up and it has snowed on and off all day but not laying on the road out side.
Loved the video of Thomas in the snow Jane our two have stayed indoors until natured called, Richard has updated my laptop so I could open the video of the Hasting's walk was it taken on the East or West Hill?
Sorry to hear your OH has a dodgy Tummy Ann, better now then that at Christmas.
One of my nephew's wife has just had a baby girl with his 2nd wife they already have a little two year boy when he was watching his Mummy give her a bath he was very concerned that she hadn't got a willy, bless him, Mathew still has two teenage daughters from his 1st marriage Jean his Mum rang to tell me, also her sister that had the stroke has done so much better than expected, she is now home but still has trouble walking and her speech is a bit slurred but good news.
Have to go now as Toby is wanting to get on my lap.

Its just not fair.............................you all have snow and we DON'T. In fact it has been quite sunny and then we had a hialish sower which turned to rain and its been raining ever since.
I am glad James got back ok even though it took a long time. Its good to know he is back now. Naughty boys leaving the door open, trust men.
I got on well today and this afternoon I went to get more moss and popped down the forest as it had been very windy, in the hope some branches had come down and there was a lovely big one just where I could park so I chopped all the bits off I needed. On the way down I have to go through a big dip in the road outside the big house and they had a car parked on the wrong side of the road and two warning bollards on the other side with a gap to get through if you were in a tractor or off road vehicle. I took one look and went through the big house grounds so I did'nt have to go through the dip. Got more holly with berries on the way back and then got the moss.
Finished andother one today so that is three finished and I have three more started. Brought some stuff in to wire tonight and the ribbons to make some bows.
When I shut the chickens in the sky had turned really black and oh said wait till it passes over but I could'nt be bothered as I wanted to get in and make a drink. I shot off round there and they girls were still out but there was one out of the run again. She followed me in and I managed to heard them all into the house and shut them in just as it started to hail.

It's stopped snowing here Mel and is starting to melt so no doubt it'll all be gone by the morning. I'm a bit concerned with next door having his roof done and dreading it when they take the ridge tiles off on the pitch roof both our kitchen are under incase it snows again or rains, the last thing we want is water getting into the loft and our boiler is in that room. We're also concerned that he might have different tiles put on instead of the slate ones we both have now and where the two roofs meet the rain might get in there and start coming down our walls. All we can do is hope nothing goes wrong and no water pours down our interior walls.
It sounds like you're getting on well with your wreaths Mel, how many are you making? You did well finding more things for them today. Looks like you timed it right putting the girls in and made it back before the hail got you.
Congratulations on the birth of the new baby girl Anne, bless the little boy and his comment about the lack of willie <3 Good news there's improvement after the stroke, I'm sure she'll improve further with time.
Just watching "The Secret Life of the Zoo" with Sandra and OH. I didn't realise it was on so missed the first one, but recorded the rest of them which we've finally got around to watching. It was filmed in Chester Zoo, the one we took Sandra to for her birthday a couple of years ago. She's enjoying seeing all the parts of the Zoo she's walked around and of course all the animals.

orning all,
Its been snowing here but not settling. It started just before it got light as I was up early as oh had to go to Hatherleigh for an eye test. He had drops in his eyes so I had to drive back. The suns out now.
Gill I never know how many wreaths I am going to make until I have had enough. I had nine rings in the shed so I shall only probably do those. It all depends on my hands and how much they will stand.
Only 14 more sleeps till Christmas day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It seems to have come around so quickly this year but I expect I say that every year. :-D

Morning Everyone,
Still snow lying here but it's less and melting. OH is feeling a lot better today so we are off out for lunch soon where we would have gone yesterday. I have a £5 off £20 voucher for the factory shop which is near there so will pop in there after. I need socks and their batteries and dishwasher cleaner are cheap so I expect we will soon spend £20. Then on to the farm shop on the way back.
Nine wreaths is quite a lot to wire anyway Mel and I think my hands would hurt after wiring those. I know how my fingers can hurt after a while with wiring jewellery!
Oh,oh, the shower is on so I'd better get cracking! BBL.

Morning all
The roofer has arrived next door. I heard our neighbour in his back garden this morning so spoke to him over the fence. I said if it gets to cold for him, to come round here to keep warm, he said it shouldn't effect his bungalow inside but thanked me anyway. I thought it best to keep on good terms with him just incase something goes wrong. I can hear scrapping at the moment so assume the roofer is taking all the snow off the roof. OH is going to ask for his card as we were thinking of having our roof done, plus he can ask questions like what type of roof he's replacing the slate tiles with or if he's using slate again. We're hoping if the roofer thinks we'll use him for our roof he might be careful with our side when he's doing next door. I am a bit nervous at any moisture getting into our loft, but hopefully that won't happen.
That's a lot of wreaths Mel, how many have you done so far, was it 4, sorry I can't remember what you said? Don't over do it though you don't want sore fingers for Christmas. Yes 14 sleeps to go, Sandra is doing the countdown too, bless her.
Pleased to hear your OH is feeling better now Ann, enjoy you day out. I read you needed socks and their batteries and got a bit confused, it doesn't take much nowadays LOL. I assume I've got that wrong and the batteries aren't for your socks :-D :-D It's good you have a voucher, every bit of saving helps this time of year doesn't it?
I've closed one of my curtains in the living room as we don't have any blinds on that window, it's just for a bit of privacy from the roofer while I'm on my laptop. I'm getting on well with OH's side of the family so hopefully it'll all be done soon. He has quite a large family. One of the couple's had 17 children with almost half of them passing away before 1911, some of them were born and died in between the census's so that was fun trying to find them. Thankfully those children have all been found now.
Going to get a cuppa then take another look for more peeps. See you all later <3

Good morning fair maidens, evening Kim,
Gill I think you are getting worried over nothing. If the roofer is a professional then he will know how to join your tiles to your neighbours. There certainly won't be any snow or rain getting into your property. NOW BE A GOOD GIRL. and stop worrying xxx
The snow is still lying quite thick here. The old saying was. IT'S WAITING FOR THE NEXT LOT. lets hope not.
Jan sent some photo's of Alexander building his first snowman. He looks frozen, but very happy.
Don't over do it Mel, making all these wreathes, you don't want sore hands over Christmas.
I have got the bins out for tomorrow. We have everything we need in doors, so don't need to go out.
The night before last I had an HORRENDOUS DREAM/NIGHTMARE. A family of travellers took over our house, and made us their slaves. I couldn't get it out of my head yesterday, and it's still here this morning.
Today is going to be book and Tele. Haven't decided what todo for dinner tonight. We still have a fair bit of beef over, so it will be done around that ;-) ;-) ;-)
Stay warm folks.
Anne I am still smiling about no "willie" xx Bless him.

Congratulations on the baby girl Anne and I had a little chuckle at the little boy noticing the 'willy' was missing! lol. They don't miss much do they!
Gill, if there is rain or snow the roofer will most likely put polythene over any gap into the roof so I wouldn't worry too much.
We were missed at the carvery yesterday, judging by the welcome we got! As soon as we walk in they start getting our jug of water and teas and when we went they said 'see you next Sunday'. Apparently it was very quiet yesterday because of the weather. We got all the things we wanted from the factory shop including the socks Gill. I see what you meant about the batteries and had a vision of me in 'lit up' socks looking like......'twinkletoes' lol!! OH got himself a navy jumper which he's wearing now. I wore my trainers to go out as they have soles that grip well and I'm liable to go A over T like Frank with my dodgy knees! Such a shame as I used to love clambering through snow and ice. Still, I have to be thankful I can still get about.
I just have one more Christmas card to write and they are all done........well hopefully! We got a card from our new neighbours this morning........Shirley and Chris.
We may go to the retail park later as we have vouchers for W H Smith and OH wants to browse the books to see if he wants any for Christmas.

How old is Alexander Frank? Lot of fun going on by the sounds of it.
You're right Frank, I've done a check on the roofers online and there isn't any bad reports, they are working quite quickly too so that's good. The weather here is dry at the moment. OH has asked them for a quote and while he was talking with them asked them what kind of tiles are going on next doors roof, it's the same type so will tie in nicely with ours. I've never had a neighbour have their roof done before and with all the snow on the roof I got a bit panicky, I'm okay now though :-D
Just watching a film with Sandra, up to now it's quite good. It's called Love Rosie, my SIL told Sandra about it the other day when we went to visit her and MIL.
Better get back to it as it's on pause.

Afternoon all,
Gill, Alexander is TWO. such a happy little boy. I think Kerry and Mark are going down to Paignton for Christmas to stay with Kerry's sister, so we will see him then.
SUNS OUT so the thaw is starting. But they do say the temperature is going down to MINUS TWELVE tonight. So make sure you have some heat on, I don't want any of you with FROZEN PIPES. ;-) ;-) ;-)
Carolyn popped round earlier with their card. She has witnessed our signatures on the new Wills and taken them for John to sign. That's that job out of the way.
Ann it is nice when you are missed at your regular haunt. It's the same when a regular goes to the pub, the bar person always seems to know what you drink. Nice to get a card from your neighbours. We always buy a welcome card to any immediate neighbours when they move into the close. There have been a few over the years.
Between Ros and I, we have made a big Saucepan of Stew for tomorrow and Wednesday. So No cooking for TWO WHOLE DAYS. My birthday has come early LOL LOL. There is every root vegetable we have in the fridge in it, together with Shin of Beef, Oxtail and Tomato soup, Oxo and bisto Gravy. I would have put OXTAIL in it as well, but none in the freezer. :-0 :-0 :-0
The SKY is really clearing now, so ir looks like a very cold evening. KEEP WARM.
Might try this new four parter hat starts tonight, ITV 9.00 pm.

I see Cheggers has passed away aged only 60. He wasn't my kind of entertainment, but was always cheerful and appealed to children. I worked with and sat next to his first MIL for a few years. Now she was a delight and would often have us all in stitches! He always seemed to be a youngster to me. RIP Keith. <3

Evening all, We've had a few showers of rain today , it seems we got off lightly after reading that you all had a lot of snow yesterday .
Frank lovely photo's of Alexander he looks a dear little boy .
You had a nice lot of snow Ann the garden is covered . That was nice to get a card from your new neighbours ,have you spoken to them yet ? Yes i see Cheggers has gone , i didn't even know he was poorly .
Gill it's a shame you didn't know your neighbour was having his roof done as you might have got a better deal with the builder doing the two together .
You've done well to get six wreaths made Mel , how are your poor fingers ?
Going to be cold tonight ,i hope Jane has some good news from BG and they have fixed the boiler . Nice to see The Hat going out in the snow :-D

Well ,I am cheesed off. No Gas man has arrived and it has gone 6 now :-S :-S. I did ring and we are still booked in so maybe one will turn up .Who knows. I decided this morning to go and buy a couple of heaters as the house especially upstairs is so cold.
Just had the call. Guess what they can't attend now until THURSDAY !! :-| :-| :-|. So that will be 9 days . Oh well I cant do anything about it so will be have to stop being miserable :-D :-D. There will be many people far worse off than us.
I loved the pics of little Alexander with the snowman Frank. What a lovely handsome little boy he is.Big Eyes!
Anne I hope the Brother still isnt looking for his Sisters willy LOL. At least he knows knows the difference between girls and boys :-D :-D I have just filled the 2 hot water bottles we have to put in the beds. I think James had about 4 blankets plus his duvet last night !..Its going to be a lot colder tonight too !!!! I had to get the heaters from Wickes as Currys had none in their shop and most were out of stock in Argos. So I was pretty lucky to have got these 2.
Yes that was sad news about Keith Chegwin. I did find him a bit irritating sometimes but I think he was a really nice person(even though as daft as a brush LOL )
Gill if the roofers are good next door then there should be no problem with water coming through on your side.I will keep all my fingers crossed.Do you know how long the work will go on?
Mel you did spend a lot of hours in the shed . You would not have been able to do that here !!.Your fingers would have dropped off with the cold.
I must get dinner in .I was hanging on just in case the Gasman came and didnt want to be in the middle of things in the kitchen as he would have been coming in and out to the garage and letting all the cold air in. Fitz's OH had to dig her car out of the snow at 5.30 this morning . It got stuck just over the little bridge and on the uphill slope. She was going to the Gym before work !! as she does every single morning. To be honest I thought she was crazy doing that today. But she will never miss a day without going to the gym.
James still hasnt left work :-S
