Jane it's a different four stars in tonight's Marigold ,Sheila Furguson, Paul Nicolas, Rustie Lee and Dennis Taylor, those four had been in one last time.

Oh thanks I'd like to see Fitz's house .

I hope those dumplings don't lay heavy and give you indegestion :-S

I think it's only Gill and Anne that has had my cards ,fingers crossed they arrive for everyone .

Frank have you had yours ? I hope you did as one was your birthday card .

Evening All,

They have had a lot of problems in the city here with professional beggars and told the public to give to the charities rather than the individuals. Some had been abusive when offered food and not money. Some make hundreds of pounds a day and have homes and cars. If someone is genuine though, they would be glad of food or a drink.

Well, yesterday we had just got home and the power went off!! We had to search out the candles, get a torch handy and I had visions of the loaded freezer defrosting and us being cold for days like Jane!!!! :-S Luckily it was back on after about an hour which I was really glad about as I didn't fancy sitting in candlelight while OH went to a match!

I went to Nuneaton with OH this morning and like Jane I didn't wear a coat. I felt quite warm. We then called at the carvery with the touchy, feely lady where they tell us first when the carvery is ready. They have decided after Christmas to go back to a daily carvery like they used to have and will also have 3 plate sizes, so we can have a small plate like we do elsewhere, which is plenty for us as we aren't big meat eaters. It will be cheaper too and they have stopped pouring butter over the veg which I didn't like! (all those calories!!) so it will be good. It is in an old manor that is a Great Western hotel now.

The wreath is on the door, but seems to be on a rota of functions with the lights instead of a nice gentle twinkle so I'll have another look at them tomorrow. I think we are all ready now as I got the veg this morning and picked up 2 parcels from the Post Office. The roasts are ready and in the freezer!

I hope Frank wrapped up well for the concert. Churches can be very draughty too! Well done Ros on losing weight, it may be small but it's coming off.

I hope the roofers are nearly done Gill. Your OH's friend wants to order himself some special presents next year so he will have some treats for Christmas Day. :-) It's what I would do. His feelings are bound to be all over the place just now and he'll feel lost and alone as everything is going to remind him he has lost his wife.

I've given up on finding the part knitted aran jumper I was going to use the wool from to knit Teddy a jumper. I found other wool in small amounts that I think will make a hat and scarf, but I'm popping to a wool shop a few miles away in the morning to get a couple of balls for the jumper. :-)

Did anyone see the 4 year olds at the old people's home the other night? It was lovely to watch. Yes the Marigold prog tonight which should be good. I'm still a bit disappointed in Kirstie's Christmas prog. How they could include something that wasn't a sock in a sock competition tonight I don't know! lol

I have stabbed myself with beading wire a few times Mel but if you drew blood like that it must be nasty. I hope it has stopped bleeding now. Poor Di has had a bad year hasn't she.

Mine's not here yet Mandy, but I haven't had a couple of others I usually get either.......maybe tomorrow they'll turn up. :-) I remember thinking Paul Nicholas looked good for his age in that series! Amanda Barrie was in some last time too.

good evening all

How is your thumb now Mel ? Not a nice thing to happen.

Dull today and foggy first thing and no sun today, I was surprised as we had the most glorious sunset yesterday evening.

That is a beautiful tree Fitz has in his home and what a large space to put it in Jane.

Went to the vet yesterday with Ruby and booked her in for her little op it will be on Thursday next week this works out well as Paul has next week off and will be staying at home with us, Richard also has the week off so will be a good week. Ruby had her 1st birthday on Monday I bought her a couple of toys, a green furry frog and a meer cat dressed as Santa.

Nice to hear from William and hope he and Carmen have a Happy Christmas but so sorry to read about his son's illness, hope all goes well for him.

Not long before you are off for your Christmas break with Conrad & Jan Frank. I hope you have a safe journey and a really good time and a Happy Birthday too.

Colin is off to Berlin on Friday working for Ace Cultural Tours for 7days so will be back in time for the Scottish New Year..

I have recorded the Marigold programme as Richard watches Peaky Blinders not a great favourite of mine so will be doing a cross word while it is on

Thumbs ok now thanks everyone but it has a little bit of skin standing up that I just know will catch on just about everything. I had put TCP on it and when it bled it ran right around my thumb nail.

Thats awful of that man to take handouts when he dos'nt really need them. I hope he gets caught as its not at all fair to those who really need it. I hope he has a very lonely Christmas. Nasty chap.

I found another bag with some bits in it for oh today that I hav'nt wrapped up. Trouble is if I see something during the year I buy it and put it away and then forget all about it!!

I keep telling you girls and boys to write things down in a note book like where you put things but I think I shall have to take my own advice now. Then I shall forget to look in it or where it is...... :-(

My eggs were lovely tonight. I have taken to eating Morrisons sunflower and honey bread. I thought I may not like it with savory things but its the only bread I eat now and its lovely toasted with honey or jam.

I have a present from Di thats about 3 foot long. I bet its a draft excluder shall let you know on Christmas day. I wonder if it has hedgehogs on? Di and Tim's card also had a hog on it in a fancy hat but its an American hedgehog.

That sweet makers program is on again.

Good morning all,

The Concert went of very well last night. The church was packed and th choir was excellent. Standing ovation after a couple of their renditions . The GIRLS LOOK AMAZING in there black outfits with red scarfs and a bit of "BLING" One woman had so much bling on, sh stood out like a sore thumb.

Marine managed to get over and I saved her a seat. They held a raffle for the HEART FOUNDATION and she won FIRST PRIZE. A massive Hamper, full of all things for Christmas, I was so pleased for her, she had tears in her eyes. She and Brian have been through the mill recently, so come to a good cause <3 <3 <3

Ros dropped me off at the pub, so I could see the football, and have a couple of pints. When I rang her she came and collected me.

My HIP has been giving me a lot of discomfort. I am having a job to get around without my stick. I think I jared it on Tuesday with th car incident.

I don't know how I am going to be able to dig those Potato's. I will see if Conrad can do it tomorrow when they come up for us. If not they will have to sy where thy are. !!!

Been up since 6.00 am so will have a doze later no doubt.

Harvey and Julia are coming up this evening. I have booked a Table at one of our favourite Restaurants. for 7.15 pm.

See you during the day.

Morning Frak and all,

I had another email from my cousin in the USA and answered it with a huge long email and lost the lot. Did another explaining and then oh came in and I told him and he found it for me so I sent it off.

Really dull and dreary here this morning but its not that cold.

I am pleased you made it to the concert last night Frank and was'nt that lovely that Martine won first prize. She must have been delighted as I know I would have been.
An early present so to speak and jolly well deserved.

I have to go into Holsworthy in a min for chicken food so I shall be ok for over the Christmas period.

I bet everyone is rushing about doing last minuet things and thats why it is quiet on here.

I had a look at the postbox yesterday and its still looking ok. I did wonder if the birds may have a go at it.

Still no card from Mandy.

Must go now so see you later.

Afternoon All

MANDY the card has arrived :-D :-D. Its a right Cracker LOL.Thank you.

Well I was at the Drs by 8.50.Traffic was actually ok then. He is re referring me to the Rheumatologist to see if I can be seen before July which is when my next appointment is.I got more painkillers and Omeprozole . Got home and Chris was busy doing all te hoovering downstairs and upstairs !! AND done the dusting too. What a good man :-D

Tesco was a nightmare. I am done now.Chris is going tomorrow to Waitrose to get fruit(dont know why he wants to go all that way ) I have told him it will be heaving.

James,Jess and Benjy will probably be on their way soon ans get here later this afternoon.

The Concert sounded a huge success Frank .The ladies must have looked smashing .
I always get a bit teary eyed at Carol Concerts.I am glad you went to the pub .I bet you enjoyed that.Is it looking festive ?
How lovely for Martine winning that big hamper. That would have cheered her up.First prize went to the right person :-D

Mel I am surprised your decorated Post box is still looking good. I thought all the wet weather might have made it look all droopy.

Thomas seems not to be too keen to come in. I think all the hoovering earlier put him off.Maybe he 'knows' that Benjy is on the way too !!!! It is really dark and dreary here but still so mild . I remembered just now that I hadnt wrapped Jess's present. It is a jacket that I have had hanging up (so it doesn't get creased in its box) So I have just wrapped that in time phew !

Mel your tree looks very pretty :-D. I did notice 'Thomas ' next to Sandra's card.

Jane

Jane Report 21 Dec 2017 14:30

Yes the shortest day. That came around a bit swift. It was pitch black when I got up this morning. Not much lighter now LOL and then in an hour or so it will be totally dark again.
I have just whizzed some big floor wipes over the bathroom and en suite floors. I really cant be doing with getting the mop and bucket out now. So the rest of this afternoon is going to be a relaxing one until J&J get here.Chris did say he might iron the shirts in a minute. He has excelled himself today :-D

When I was at the surgery this morning I heard so many people with the most dreadful coughs. It sounded like everyone had croup !!. I hope I havent picked anything up .My GP was off last week with the Flu type bug and that was supposed to be his weeks holiday :-(. I had to get on the couch and lift my legs up and down and sideways.I felt like a ballet dancer on my back. He did say how restricted my right hip was.

My tumble dryer is getting so hot. It is a condenser and it was flashing to say the big fliter was 'full'. Chris took it out and flushed it through but when he put it back it tripped the switch twice in the garage :-S.. Something is telling me I will be off for a new one after Christmas. I have the bath mats in drying at the moment and am keeping a close eye on things. The last thing we need now is for it to overheat and catch fire !!!

Evening all ,

What a dreary day again ,thick fog most of the day it didn't clear until about half past two , its still really mild .
We went to Tesco today for the last bits and pieces but the dates on some things were dreadful i even saw one thing with yesterdays date on !!!
I expected lots of traffic and getting held up on the car park but it wasn't to bad at all ,we must have just caught it at the right time
In the morning we have Colins brother coming for coffee and then the family will be here in the afternoon for a meal .

Well i'm so pleased the cards are getting to you at last ,all that time !! they were all posted together last Tuesday week !!!!

Mel your tree looks lovely very pretty and all your cards on the string with the pom poms on .

Frank the concert sounds as if it was a great success and how lovely for Martine to win the big Hamper .
Have a lovely evening tonight .

Oh dear Jane if the dryers tripping the switch some things not right with it ,you'll have to keep an eye on it if your using it the last thing you want is a fire !!!
So Thomas will soon have his little doggie friend Benji for company .
That was good of Chris to do those jobs ,do you hire him out ? :-D :-D i have some ironing that needs doing :-D :-D

Ann did you get the wool for Teddies jumper ? what colour did you get ? when you said aran i always think of the cream aran wool but you can get it in so many colours now .
I wonder what caused the power cut yesterday ,we have a big fluoresent tube rechargable light that we get out if the lights go out in fact we only charged it up the other day ready for the winter .

Annx Report 21 Dec 2017 19:14

Evening All,

Still no card here, but it sounds as if they all got delayed somewhere Mandy.......maybe tomorrow. :-) Edit I see they have started arriving. I was going to do the jumper in a darkish blue or red. The florescent rechargeable light is a good idea Mandy. I used to have a Tilley lamp, but sold it as it was a right performance lighting it.

Oh Jane you don't want dryer trouble now! You've only just got your heating back. It's a nice feeling when you've got everything isn't it. I still may get some fresh flowers tomorrow to do a table decoration if I remember! We are beading in the morning so I may well forget. Fitz's tree this year looks a lovely shape and I think I would need to abseil to decorate it! That was sweet of little Ottilie to be careful handing things to decorate it. I was forgetting she must be walking now! I grew some Foxtail lily bulbs one year but never saw them the next so wondered if the Squirrels liked them?

The doc forgot to include something on my prescription this week and you just don't know if it's the doc or chemist's mistake now prescriptions are sent direct to the chemist! :-S So I rang the docs on Monday and it was the doc who'd missed it off and was told it would be at the chemists for me to collect today. Off we went while the surgery was closed for lunch so we could park easily as it is bedlam everywhere now! OH went to collect the missing item from the pharmacy next door and they hadn't got it!! They said it hadn't been sent through. Of course with us going at lunchtime the surgery was closed. I think I'm back to square 1 with another phone call and trip! :-S :-0

Has the roofer finished Gill and did you manage to finish your dressing gown? I went to get the wool I wanted this morning and the shop had changed hands! I then went to another I remembered a few miles away and that had gone as well, so I'm ordering some online now. I bet Sandra is getting excited now!! :-D

The concert sounds as if it was great Frank and the icing on the cake with Martine winning the hamper. It must have lifted her spirits after the trouble they have had.

I can't believe Ruby is 1 Anne! Where does the time go. It's good she has her op all arranged now and that it will soon be done. I see Colin is off on his travels again......what an interesting life he leads. :-)

Mel your tree looks very nice and so does Sandra's card, as do the others. The shortest day has soon got here, not long ago it seemed ages till Christmas! I was quite liking it at the moment as well as I'm sleeping really well.

Iv'e just cut off that annoying bit of skin that was sticking out from where I stuck the wire in my thumb. It feels much better now.

Lamb stew tonight with dough boys and pearl barley.

What a day we've had, thankfully the roofers were still around as we needed some help getting a large plant out of the ground and into a pot. OH and I managed to loosen it from the ground but trying to pull it out was a nightmare.

Because we've had so much rain the suction was unbelievable, it didn't matter how hard we tried to pull the plant out it would hardly move. We managed to get it to lie down on the very wet ground but couldn't move it any further as we were slipping all over the place.

In the end I asked the roofers if they could help as they were stronger than me, it didn't take them long and they even put it in the pot for us too. Then a bit later on another roofer came and helped OH move it over to the other side of the garden as it was to heavy for me to lift with OH. They have been great helping us and they even gave us loads of slate tiles they were getting rid of as I want to edge a border in the front and also another one in the back. It took us all day to move the plant plus sort out a few other jobs in the garden. We were suppose to be going shopping but that'll be done tomorrow now.

It's a good job we decided to move the plant today and not tomorrow as it was the last day the roofer were here as they have finished next doors roof now. The scaffolding comes down tomorrow so everything will be back to normal by the weekend.

I haven't had a chance to catch up with any posts yet. I'm so tired I'm almost falling asleep, so I'll catch up with them tomorrow as I'm having an early night.

Hope everyone is okay, see you all tomorrow.

Morning all,

Usual weather cloudy and dull and moisty........................

Di is coming this morning to collect her presents and have a coffee at 11.30am.

I must have a tidy up and clear the table and put the magazines in several bags for her.

Thumb is a lots easier this morning and not so swollen but it lets me know when I pick things up. You don't realize how much you use it on that bit till you have a sore there.

Three more sleeps till the big day. I bet Sandra can't wait to get all her presents, bless. Hope Gill feels better today after the hard work she and hubby did yesterday.

Slept like a log again last night. How was your nights?

On watching Kirstie's programs have you noticed that her dresses are always the same pattern in different materials? Its bugging me now. :-| :-S :-| :-S
