Jane, if your OH is anything like mine he is ALWAYS right and nothing is EVER his fault!! Millie certainly hates raised voices, she sits 'as we say' like a puppy and looks nervously from one of us to the other and vaguely whines!!! Laura told her OH that she'd given him 24 hours to get out!!!! never mind moving closer to them, they'll be with us if she goes on like that!! Duck legs for lunch, better go and peel some spuds. Must try the receipe, sounds really delicious. My birthday on Tuesday! not very well timed this year!!!

Laughing at all the comments.

My OH does the silient treatment too. I just carry on as normal and speak to him so he has to answer me. After a while it sorts it's self out but when mum was alive it would go on for days sometimes.

My dad always said if you did'nt answer then there would'nt be an argument.

Mandy wake him up with a nice coffee.

Jane Report 23 Jan 2011 14:19

We do our best Frank and try things we think you men will like.I don't think I'll bother anymore lolol.Maybe we should have a role reversal and the men can go and buy all the food.
My guess is that there will be an awful lot of extras in the basket .Just a few things .Chris normally comes back with things like lots of different coffee, cheese, marmalade, weird tea. Then says he can't understand why the bill was so much!!!!!!!.Thats because he doesn't look at the prices lol
We are a different breed.Of course us women are always right.
I'm going to dish up now.Hannah has had hers and wasn't too impressed.I had a little taster and have to agree .I wonder what Chris will think?

Afternoon All
Been to church this morning weather dull and gray but not as cold. OH been in the garden all morning came in at lunch time complaning of a stiff back, what is my family like with sore backs!!!!! lol
Only sore because he was bending over most of the morning chopping away at overgrown bushes, the garden looks a lot more tidy now.

LilyL Report 23 Jan 2011 14:55

You lot do make me laugh! my OH leaves doors open!! my father used to, and my mother always used to say 'Were you born in a Barn?! so I say the same to OH and he gets all huffy and pretends that he was going out again in two minutes!! which of course, is complete rubbish!!! Been to Sainsbury's this am, OH convinced that there is a conspiracy over prices!! for heavens sake HOW and WHY!!! OH getting very twitchy at me coping on my own next week?!!! what he means is,that he won't be here to supervise!!! Oh dear I make him sound awful! he's not that bad considering all things!!! Laura said she can't believe that she married someone so obstinate! I said, that we all tend to marry our fathers, and she's done just that" she said, I should have warned her!!! I said, I tried to but she wouldn't listen!!!

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 23 Jan 2011 15:10

We're speaking again now ......i think it was the biscuit that did it !!! lol

Liz , we say the same "shut that door were you born in a barn" lol
Or shut that door the draught's enough to cut your legs off

Jane

Jane Report 23 Jan 2011 15:25

Well ,Liz don't mention doors left open.Chris is the worst culprit. As yours would say he was just about to go through it again lol
I'm sure you will be fine next week Liz.Is this the first time you will have spent some time apart?Just think you can have a few days to do just what you fancy .
If it was a man left at home he would wander around in his undies ,leaving the toilet seat up,top off the toothpaste, and all the dirty dishes piled up until the last moment .Saying that,Chris would be the opposite. He is always too clean and tidy.
What time tomorrow does he have to be at the hospital? He will be home before you know it Liz.Best wishes to your OH .x

Well I wasn't that struck on lunch .Not the best choice.Never mind ,I am going to have a go at homemade Olive and Lemon Meatballs tomorrow with tagliatelle.!!!!.I'm not quite sure what has happened to me as I hate cooking. It is all this Slow Cookers fault lol.I must admit though it has been nice to have something new for a change.

Cup of tea time now ....15.25

Afternoon All,

Very dreary and dull today. I have drawn the curtains already.

Since OH retired, when we are shopping he often says 'we already have some of that' or 'why do we need 2'. Well, us ladies buy several when things are on offer and hate having to make a special journey because we've run right out of something....right! TODAY I was able to smirk!! lol We are out of cheese to go with our salad tonight. It is he who eats most of it and he never tells me when he's used the last of anything, so it's his own fault!!! lol I don't get the silent treatment at all, he is too much of a chatterbox for that and has to have the last word!! lol Suggesting he take over all the shopping etc usually shuts him up ......or he will say I'm being childish!!!! Grrrrrrr!!! He used to drive me nuts making comments during tv programmes, always over bits I wanted to hear, but I found a cure.........the rewind button!! Yes Liz, doors left open as he's only going to be 2 minutes going to the bin etc. I have suggested standing at the door throwing money outside when the heating is on which is just the same, but apparently I'm being melodramatic!!! lol It's a good job he has his good points and often diffuses things with a wisecrack you can't help but laugh at!!

The self service at the supermarket really annoys him because he is too tidy putting the shopping in the bag, so takes too long resulting in that voice saying 'unexpected item in bagging area' and needing an assistant to sort it out!!

Best wishes to you OH for tomorrow Liz, it will soon be done now. Did they say how long he would be in for?

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 23 Jan 2011 17:31

Gosh I have just had a laugh at your posts again!!!!

Do you remember me telling you OH said he would cook twice a week? Well he has'nt so far!!!!!!

Mine also tells me we have central heating so it should'nt make any difference if soors are left open and it should actually be warmer in the kitchen with the door open onto the hall as that has three rads and the kitchen only has one. I never seem to get a draft until he turns the heating on. I am sure it is the boiler firing up and drawing in air that causes a draught round my knees and legs.

Anne Report 23 Jan 2011 18:38

I am stilling laughing at todays messages.
These poor husbands we do malign them but who would climb into the loft and bring down the decorations, wash the car, change the lightbulbs that I cannot reach, make the early morning cup of tea and open those stubborn jars.
Yes he does have his annoying habits but the good bits outweigh the bad usually.
On the question of food waste, I do try very hard to use most things but thankfully the compost bin deals with the rest. The worst thing is cottage cheese which I insist on buying when Im Trying to lose weight and I always have to throw some out but I still do it!!!
The panto went well and I sold lots of sweets and ices.
Glad other people hate the SS checkout and can spell dinosaur

Liz I hope your OH is not in hospital too long. I alwaysenjoy my time at home alone but I am used to it as hubby has always come and gone.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 23 Jan 2011 18:49

Anne I do most of those things anyway. I do ask him to put my chicken pellets and corn in the bins for me though. He usually forgets and he does put the rubbish out for me as that has to go a long way up our road to the roadside. He forgot last week and I did'nt remember till it was too late.

He does put the decs in the loft too but he has'nt yet this year, they are still in the lounge in their boxes. It has been too cold to open the trap door and let all the heat up in the loft!!

Mine only washes his car but has been known to give mine a shower with the pressure washer when he first had it.

Don't ever throw away cottage cheese, give it to the birds in it's pot they love it. Most things go out to my wild birds, out of date cream or marg, left over pastry and I even tried them with an apricot fool that had been lost in the depths of the fridge from January. Of course any peelings are cooked for the chickens or left over chinese, they love it and think it's their birthdays AGAIN.

Glad the panto and icecream went ok Anne. Yes mine is good at jars.......but guess who often puts the lids on too tight for me to undo!! lol As you say, there are lots of good points too and he suits me very well. He would have a field day on my faults I'm sure!!!

A shame Larkrise is to be axed.....what a pity.

We haven't really done anything outside only pick up a few fallen twigs and leaves Fiona. As soon as we start I just know we will both be clutching either our achey thighs or backs the first few times! Hope you have some Ra*ox. lol

OH has to be at the hospital by 12.00 tomorrow, and should be out Thursday/Friday, so not too long. Years ago OH used to be away a lot, but now of course, he's at home all the time. I go up to stay with Laura twice a year for a week which gives us both a bit of 'space'!!! You know what they say, 'For better for worse, but not for lunch'!!! OH has spent the afternoon showing me how to re-set the alarm in the Workshop if we have a power cut! Power cuts always set the alarm off, and if I couldn't stop it I would be well unpopular!!! and various other things that MIGHT happen!! I'm a nervous wreck!!! I'm looking forward to Larkrise, make the most of it Mel!!!

Well, i think the silent treatment works girls....i've now been asked if i'd like a coffee!! lol
Do you think i'd be pushing it a bit if i ask for another biscuit LOL

Liz, i hope all goes well for your OH tomorrow ,do you have to ring first to make sure there's a bed ?

Anne, glad the first show went ok and the ice creams sold !!

Frank, how did the bidding go on your chicken coop ,did you get what you wanted for it ?
