CLINGFILM MANDY!!!!! lol, lol Well at least you could bind your case together if the fastener/zip broke.

We each have and pack our own case Anne. OH was away quite often in his job and got his packing down to a fine art and minimal compared to me. Mine is always heaviest despite him putting my books in his case!! I have said on here before though that when we went away once he discovered he had packed no pants, socks or hankies!!!!!

One thing I said on my post that disappeared was that when I went on a cruise with my Sister and Mum,I thought I had better check Mums case.(she had dementia) I found she had packed 22 pairs of pants!!!!,(For a week).I know I always put plenty in my case but 22??? A bit OTT .I discretely took out half and left her with 11.That was a holiday I can tell you !!!!!.I have some wonderful photos to remind me of the cruise. But the sad thing was Mum remembered nothing. She enjoyed it at the time which was the main thing .
I hope your electrics are sorted now Anne.

Anne, it's wild here too, the outside lights keep flashing on and off, might have to turn them off before bedtime or every time I go to the loo I will think someone has walked passed the house ,

I bet no ones packs there suitcase like my SIL does,
Everytime my SIL goes back home to Italy to visit his parents he takes 1 suitcase for himself, but you won't find clothes or toiletries in it. WAIT FOR THIS!!! Plastic pop bottles, he fills the case full of bottles so there's weight in it.
He has summer clothes in the wardrobe in his old bedroom. he says Britian is not warm enough like Italy so he leaves most of his summer clothes there, they buy most of their toiletries when they get there,
Daughter no 1 takes her personal belongings and her clothes and Sofia's clothes but you can buy most baby things there anyway.
and if she wants anything else she buys it there and leaves the bottles. so theres no heavy bottles in her case.

Because SIL mother only sees them maybe twice a year, she buys lots of clothes(the next size up) for sofia and toys and SIL puts them in his empty suitcase to bring home , he also brings home wine and different pasta's , I can understand this is the only way she can buy things for her little granddaughter. where I can buy things for Sofia quite often because I see her almost 2 or 3 times a week.

Well its 9.50pm and I am starting to feel sleepy. It won't be long before I'll be off to bed.
That wind is still strong but at least the rain has stopped, the weather man says we are going to get a lot of rain & Gales over the weekend . don't think we will be traveling very far
night night all

That's a lot of pants lol
On one holiday ,we opened our cases up and all the things inside were really damp and wet !!!

Fiona , why doesn't he just take an empty case , why put bottles in .
When we had what i call soft cases you could fit one inside the other ,now with these hard shell cases you carn't do that .

She must have packed all her pants Jane!! lol Good that enjoyed the cruise at the time even if she couldn't remember it after.

I wonder how things got damp Mandy?? I suppose that's the benefit of hard cases......doesn't matter if something gets spilt on them. We still use the soft cases with wheels, the lightest weight I could find......never mind them being cheap. lol They can easily be cut open and stuff stolen though.

Well I'm off to bed now........blowing like mad outside at the moment. A lie in for us tomorrow before we pick up some cobble stones for FIL on the way to pick them up for lunch!! Hope we can all sleep tight, despite the wind (sorry....you know what I mean!!!) lol Night Night xx

Jane Report 3 Feb 2011 22:29

Ann ,Mum still had tons of pants left at home.I think she has about 40 all together. That was part of the dementia. She always had to buy new pants.

As for damp /wet clothes in the suitcases. If your suitcase happens to be on the truck thing going to the plane(or coming off) and it is pouring with rain they are not protected and all the cases get soaked.I have had some very damp contents of a suitcase because of really heavy rain.Maybe if had been wrapped in Cling film it would have stayed dry lolol
It is late now and I am ready for bed.
Where is Frank? It's not like him not to pop in .I do hope everything is ok

Night Night xx

Morning All,

The wind came up here last night and is still blowing a gale this morning. Sometimes the roof is making a noise as if it's lifting a little and it creaks.

I remember as a child waking in the night when it was all quiet and hearing the house make noises.

Hope we hear from Frank and Liz today to report on our invalids. Bet they are getting better rested nights now, well I hope so.

On Sunday morning when I woke I had a stretch in bed and felt a cramp coming on in my right leg. I quickly put my foot up and it went but I have had a pain in my right leg now all week and can hardly stand on to get my trousers on. OH says I have to make an appointment with the doc. Last night there is a lump on the side of this leg and thats where it hurts. I have to sit on the edge of a seat also as if I sit right back the pressure on the leg makes it hurt.

Hi Everyone! Yesterday was a very busy day, goodness knows where the time went as I was only doing houseworky things! by the time the evening came I was just too tired!! The invalid progresses well, he is now up and about and even checking his e-mails!! the 'lavatory' problems are much improved, which have course, made him a happier bunny!! We are now just awaiting the test results and after that, hopefully, home and dry! The weather is awful here today, high winds and drizzly rain. Merlin still pissed off as is Millie!!! Mel you must see the doctor about your leg, I get cramp in my left leg and foot, and boy is it painful! my doctor recommended quinine, in other words Tonic Water!!! but NOT the slimline! Sheila, DO see your Doctor too, You can't go on feeling so dreadful, feeling the way you do is just awful I know as I had terrible anxiety attacks during the horrible saga with our neighbours, and my doctor prescribed, anti-depressants which were a real help; they take abour 2 weeks to kick in, but after that, the result was brilliant. Must go, visitor has just arrived! B.B.S

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 Feb 2011 11:15

Mum used to take Quinine Sulphate and OH has Tonic water as does his sister.

It is so good that Ian is up and about again and feeling well enough to look at his emails. Lets hope it is onward and upwards from here on in.

Jane have you spoken to Maureen lately??

Afternoon everyone ,

Well its been windy here !! one of my pots went over in the night ,and i've been to sisters and she lost a Rose Arch that was covered in Honeysuckle .

Mel, my hubby gets a lot of cramp,he's always pacing round the bedroom in the middle of the night ,he takes Quinine tablets for it.

Glad to hear that your OH is getting on Liz, on the loo front there's nothing worse then not being able to go !!

We're off out tonight for an early birthday meal ,this weekend is the only time sister can go out as the next three weekends she's working ,so no cooking for me tonight .

I do hope Frank's alright ,its most unusual not to hear from him .

Still very windy here. Chickens don't like it. I put some bubble polythene round a bit of the bantams wire run as they won't come out of their bedroom bit which is above ground.

Lucky Mandy not having to cook tonight. Have a lovely time.

Worried too about Frank!!!!!!! Come on Franky Boy where are you and are you ok please?

Hi All
It's terrible weather here, windy and wet,

Mandy , SIL case is hard so he puts bottles in so it looks and feels like there's something in it. Why bottles I don't really know. he does have some funny ideas!!!!!!!!!! LOL

Not much going on here today, daughter no1 work shifts have changed so she won't be coming down with Sofia on a Friday anymore. as SIL will get home in time from work to look after Sofia BOO HOO., But I will still get to spend time with her on Wednesday 's & Sunday's.

Afternoon Everyone
What a day we are having!! The wind and rain were terrific last night and this morning we checked the boundry and all was well. Within an hour part of the fence blew over and hubby has been roping it off.It has to be the part next to where our neighbour parks his car of course so we have had to tell him that nothing can be done for at least 3 weeks. This wont suit him as he can be awkward but there is nothing else we can do. At least it happened whilst we are still at home.
More wind and rain forcast for this evening so we will wait and hope that nothing else goes wrong.
Everything ready for packing now and the house has been cleaned and bedding changed so I can go away with a clear conscious now. My mother always cleaned the house before going anywhere ' Just in Case' as she put it and I guess I am programmed to follow suit.
We have some neighbours coming for drinks this evening so must get on
Seems odd not to hear from Frank

My goodness the wind seems to have got up even more !!
Hubby has just arrived home and he said that the roof was coming off our cinema in the town , the men were trying to do something to it they were up on one of those Cherry pickers !! rather them than me in this wind , but i suppose they have to try and do something to make it safe .

Anne, there's always some thing that goes wrong just as you go away ,hope you don't get any more damage .
I like to go away knowing the house is clean too.

Hi Shirley, nice to see you , how much snow have you had ?is it really deep?
I don't think i'll be wearing my bathing suit yet Shirley ,i'd have goose bumps on my goose bumps lol

I too have a bit of a Blitz before going on holiday.Chris thinks I'm mad,but hey ho thats what us ladies do.Last thing is bleach the loos.
I have had the Gasman here fitting the new condenser and servicing the boiler. He is a lovely lad.He has just gone so I hope to warm up soon.He has been working with the garage door up and all the cold air blows straight through into the house.

Mel I spoke to Maureen a week or so ago.She is fine ,keeping very busy and fit .I think if you wanted to send her an email she will get it after a while.Alfie is doing alright, and I don't think he has had anymore fits recently. He still sounds like a little minx lol

I'm getting a bit concerned now ,not hearing from Frank.Maybe he is having computer problems.I hope it is that and nothing else.

I'm glad Ian is doing well Liz.Is it Monday you said he has an appointment?

Anne I bet you can't wait to get away now.Away from this awful weather!!!
The wind seems to be getting stronger now.I don't like it.
Must check some cooking

Mel how is your leg this afternoon.Do you think you pulled a tendon or something when you stretched out for the cramp?
