Hi Sylvia, I think she just hasn't seen your message, no doubt she will use capitals again.

I don't understand why, if anyone posts anything she jumps straight down their throat and she seems to really have it in for some people here.

I'm so excited for her! She was one last year but althought she was well behaved she didn't quite understand it all, now she is a bit older for some reason she is associating the wedding with Cinderella!

She is the youngest of her cousins by oh I think 12 or so years, and she just loves the older ones to peices, so she will be happy going down the aisle to my nephew, no doubt she will be wondering why he won't bespinning her up in the air and tossing her around like he normally does (he's about 6"4 so she loves it!)

Have had lots of trouble with the site today, it is getting a bit snickerty about letting me post!

SylviaInCanada Report 15 Jun 2011 06:28

Gosh, this country is having some troubles!

Canada Post employees ahve been conducting rotating strikes for the last 10 or 11 days ........... an option to a full out strike. The corporation, in response, decided that mail should be delivered only 3 days a week (M,W and Th) because so many people were not posting letters etc.

I have just seen on the internet that Canada Post has declared a lockout as of midnight Eastern time (Tuesday 14th). They say they have losts $100 million since the strike began.

Monday night at midnight, the ground attendants of Air Canada walked out on strike .... so management are filling in for them

At least, Parliament is in session ............ discussing whether Canada should extend its time in Libya

They did announce this afternoon (Tuesday) that they would legislate the Air Canada workers back to work as early as Thursday if they had not come to an agreement.

I guess they will now be looking at Canada Post.

We have to be glad that Parliament is in session .............. they could have been on summer holidays, and it would then have taken months to sort out these strikes!

and our Janey will be very happy that the MPs are back in Ottawa ................... it means work, but it means that we won't be seeing much of her!

If I don't catch you Sylvs....have a good trip......don't stalk too many bears!

Having a debate with OH as to whether we really need curtains...to curtain or not to curtain, THAT is the question! He thinks it looks a bit bare and I think it looks more spacious but I know what he means. I DO wish I had a better eye for interior design.

There are some houses for sale nearby and I've looked at them on the sales website. It has unsettled me......I think. Really though, I'm very happy with my lot in life. Most of the time ;-)

Canada sounds almost as exciting as GB Sylvs :-D

Back later....take care all ~~~~~~

Persie isn't going to do any until tomorrow so THANK YOU GINNS for those croissants - they have just about kept me alive. :-)

I am a bit worried about what Persie has in store for us tomorrow - I hope it is not something 'too yukky'.

Grace, It is wonderful for your little daughter to be a flower girl again, I am sure she will have a lovely time.

Have a good trip Sylvia.

Persephone Report 15 Jun 2011 09:40

Thanks Renes, I am rather partial to beaujolais with Venison of any sort but thought it could be a bit much....

There is nothing weird in there Dea... Feijoas grow here in abundance and people make crumble and eat them like Kiwifruit etc... I actually don't like them... I don't like their smell when they are sitting in the fruit bowl with skin still intact but OH likes them.

Cyn, you could get roller type blinds... not venetians they are a beggar to keep clean. However, if you live in an area where you can undress in your living room and no one can see you and you have a good panoramic vista out the window.. I think I would be inclined to go au naturel.... also clean your windows at night, much easier and way less smears.

Dea

Dea Report 15 Jun 2011 09:51

I know Persie - none of it is wierd......... It's all VERY lovely <3

Talking about venetian blinds reminded me of when we bought our last house, many years ago.

The lady who we bought it from must have suffered from that 'compulsive cleaning' disorder as the house was SO spotless that not even a speck uf dust settled for ages! (I soon changed that though :-D)

Even the garage floor was treated with that 'red polish' stuff and she would buff it up each time her husband took the car out of the garage!

Apparently the venetian blinds were taken down weekly and each slat seperated from the strings - all would be washed and hung individually on the washing line to dry. It must have taken her for ever to rethread them all.

Needless to say, as soon as we could afford it, all the (by now filthy) blinds were chucked in the bin and replaced by curtains.

I would like my house to be cleaner but I think that is taking things just 'a bit too far' ;-)

Persephone Report 15 Jun 2011 10:02

Hmm Dea
It would be good if we could just have a magic helmet come over the house and it all got dry cleaned.... I remember having a Dennis the Menace book and in one picture he was sitting in a bath without any water and when mother asked what he was up to he said he was having a dry clean.

I hate the way the dust settles on the top of the curtain tracks. And when you have visitors you are bound to notice a cobweb that got missed. :-S

Vegemite???Yukadoo......Where is the Marmite please??
Gluten free bread ?

Fancy Marmite on toast.

Oh well,I will make it myself...

Persephone

Persephone Report 15 Jun 2011 11:16

I don't have marmite & never will , but can do the gluten free bread for you.
I worked with a NZ born Chinese guy who insisted on toasting cinnamon English style muffins and putting marmite on them. I ate mine and did not have the heart to tell him they were ghastly. He also used to bring this green cake to have with his lunch which I wouldn't eat. He was our IT person and one day his keyboard jammed and it took him awhile to find the cause of the problem..... noodles stuck in the keys....

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 15 Jun 2011 12:46

Noodles stuck in the keys......love it :-D

If Gins could but remember, I have already told her that I have blinds....vertical type. We never close the curtains incidentally.

As for the au naturel bit Persie......erm.....as I live on a busy main road with constant traffic, I think it might be a bit risky or even risque ;-)

I would hate to be responsible for a massive pile up outside our front door simply because someone spotted my assets....... :-D

Mind you, the back of the house overlooks a field.....now THAT's a different story and the local shop is all sold out of binoculars...... :-D :-D

Dea, even though you know I prefer housework to cooking, even I would not go as far as the lady you quoted ... believe me!
