Hellooooooo

Sneaky lunchtime look in.
Just went into a school to talk to 30 5year olds about the importance of getting their eyes checked.

Scary.

Now preparing for a stall at the Horn fair.

Was that our Renes flittering in too?

Hi there dear. <3 <3 <3

I know you wouldn't Cynthia - You like to keep things 'clean' - the lady in question kept everything 'sterile' !!!

It was a nice house to move into though - they hadn't done anything to keep it up to date and we had to put central heating in and build a new kitchen etc, but, at least we didn't have to scrub everything clean before we could feel comfortable in it, which is usually the case when moving house.

I am just SO glad though that she didn't come to look around it when we put it up for sale a few years later :-D

I have bought myself a prezzie !!!!!!!!!

I ventured into town again today but had to have my husband take me as I wanted to call in at the lovely fruit and veg shop and the last time I went there I nearly killed myself trying to carry it the couple of hundred yards back to my car and had to sit in the car puffing at my inhaler until I could drive home :-(

Anyway, while I was out, I bought myself a little shopping trolley. I have never had one before and thought I would feel and look like a 'little old lady' with one, but I didn't.

It is quite pretty really and I was able to manage my shopping very well! - I will be able to go on my own next time :-D

I was also surprised to see how many young people seem to use these nowadays.

I used to have a shopping trolley when I didn't drive Dea. There was no way I could have carried shopping for 5 people home in bags on a bus! You can get some v.pretty ones now and, if it gives you some independence, then enjoy it!. Our own little trolley dolly!

It is bucketing down here. I went to pick the grandchildren up and it poured down. Then came closer to home and it was dry! Then the rain caught up with me :-( Mind you, saves me watering the plants :-D

And R could just step outside for his cold shower if he were in this country, save cleaning the shower after... ;-)

Had a friend that would grab shampoo and soap in downpour and do just that as they had no bathroom, only a cold tap in the kitchen...
She wears a swimming cosie under her clothes when going out so she can go for a dip anywhere anytime if out now.....Still a bit too cold for my liking though...

Well, It is very hot and 'muggy' here - I think we might be in for a storm later which will be nice as it should cool things down before I go to bed.

It is very sunny at the moment though.

I'm sorry

forgive me?

I realised as I was getting into bed that I had misunderstood Persie

............ she posted about getting breakfast "tomorrow"

so I just thought "oh, she's got the day wrong, she's supposed to do it starting on Thursday. I won't correct her, I'll just not do anything"

But of course ................. I forgot the time difference!

Persie was already on Wednesday while I was still on Tuesday. So "tomorrow" was Thursday for her, but "tomorrow" meant Wedneday to me :-D

are you all as confused as me now? :-S :-S :-S

I don't understand these time differences either.

She did 'step in' though when she saw we were starving so we will make it through with a joint effort until you come back :-D

Just you get ready for that trip and have a good time.

Hi all and ~~~~~~~~to Renes as she passes through

Is it a pushing trolley you bought Dea? not a drag along one like what Fans is talking about.

You need a rollator like mine so if you get tired you can have a sit down. It has a bag under the seat that you can put a few bits in also.

Also a scooter is good for shopping, its suprising how much you can carry on one of those

Dea

Dea Report 15 Jun 2011 18:49

You can push it or drag it Ja...x

I don't ever go too far and if I go into Town there are lots of seats and benches where I can take a rest if I need to.

I don't wander far from where I have parked the car but I just can't 'carry' anything so this should help a lot.

Shattered now. And still got to prepare visual aids for Sunday.

The Horn Fair
Before the village green in front of Charlton House was enclosed by the Maryon-Wilson family in 1829 the ancient Horn Fair was held there annually. After the enclosure the fair was moved to a field in nearby Fairfield Grove. It was suppressed because of the drunken behaviour of those celebrating at the fair in 1874.

In the 1720s, the Horn Fair was described by Daniel Defoe:

Charleton, a village famous, or rather infamous for the yearly collected rabble of mad-people, at Horn-Fair; the rudeness of which I cannot but think, is such as ought to be suppressed, and indeed in a civiliz'd well govern'd nation, it may well be said to be unsufferable. The mob indeed at that time take all kinds of liberties, and the women are especially impudent for that day; as if it was a day that justify'd the giving themselves a loose to all manner of indecency and immodesty, without any reproach, or without suffering the censure which such behaviour would deserve at another time.

A tour thro' the Whole Island of Great Britain 1724-1727

A pale shadow of the original was revived in 1973, and it is now held in Charlton House and its grounds.

Somethings do not change.
