Jonesey Report 21 Feb 2012 22:46

Gin stop reading the Socialist Worker it is seriously damaging your intelligence .

The principles of the scheme that you are on about are fine but I will agree that rather than benefit private companies it would be better if those who are encouraged to go on the scheme were utilised by local councils on projects to benefit the community as a whole rather than individual companies.

Just as it is right to expect a days pay for a days work it is wrong to expect to be paid for doing nothing. This country simply cannot afford to pay people who can work not to work. Simply allowing people to perpetually turn up at a Job Centre once every 2 weeks in order to sign on in order to receive a hand out from the tax payer is not going to solve anything longterm.

What would be your answer to the problem?

Renes

Renes Report 21 Feb 2012 23:31

In Spain -- in order to continue to receive un employment payments --- every 6 months you have to work for the community you live in for 12 days

You have to report to your town hall where work is allocated to all --- it covers all the work done by council employees

The age/sex of the person is totally ignored -- on the basis work is work

Gird your loins .......................

anyone noticed the Announcement today????

-------------

"This weekend sees the return of Who Do You Think You Are? Live at Olympia in London. We will have lots of laptops available so that people attending the show can try out the site and gain access to the records, but one of the areas we are really keen to show off is the Genes Reunited boards and the amazing members we have.

To show how valuable the boards can be when researching your family history, we will be allowing people to post up their requests under this log in. We will then be encouraging them to log in on their home computers to see the replies they have received. We will only be making this feature available on one laptop to control the amount of requests posted.

We hope that this will show people unaware of the boards, just how useful they can be because of our amazing volunteer helpers. "

Just imagine the postings we might be in for :-D :-D :-D

I can only imagine the number of pm's C will be trying to send out to non-returning requesters

I probably won't be on here until very late tomorrow.

Persephone Report 22 Feb 2012 06:04

I answered the phone and it was my granddaughter now 16 but then not quite one... she had pressed redial and I could hear my daughter and SIL talking in the background.. told them that it was a good thing they had not rung Japan or Britain prior to little miss redialer.

My MD where I worked would take the cell with him to the gents and chat away..next thing the Financial Controller started doing it as well.

Same child told me when she was two she could ring me... I was on auto 1.

I think FbyG really enjoys that little bloke and she wouldn't have it any other way despite her protests...

Do you want me to do breakfast tomorrow Sylvs?

Good morning all!

I have cooked myself some bacon, sausages, mushrooms and tomatoes and have left a few 'extras' in the warmers with a poached egg or two.

What are you having Persie? - Anything 'extra nice' that I can pinch a bit of ??

Persephone Report 22 Feb 2012 08:16

Sorry Dea... I disappeared...

I could do some lamb cutlets and sauteed potatoes

Then maybe some pancakes... with lemon and sugar, or blueberries and cream, or strawberry jam and cream..... I see there is maple syrup in the cupboard above the bench...

LK ... Badger's cafe does lovely food in fact I complimented Theresa Ogle on her mince pie that I had with homemade relish... there was no fatty taste it was decent mince and peas and yummy pastry... followed it up with a melting moment which I love this one had coffee icing holding the two bits together.

And no Gins I haven't put on any weight after being there but then I didn't lose any while I was away either. So Renes I am on the zero rung of the ladder at the moment... himself is the same. I thought that was pretty good not to gain considering we were at a party with lots of naughty food.

Persie, if you want to cook my breakfast.....I won't be stopping you! :-D :-D

Everyone knows I hate cooking.

With you on that topic Jonesey. How the problem will ever be solved is anyone's guess at the moment.

Even though my daughter has the high functioning autism - which is classed as a disability - she has worked for most of her life. There was no way I wanted her to live on benefits when she was quite capable of working. It was a battle though!

Someone near her lives entirely on benefits because of a 'bad back' and has more luxuries than my daughter can afford. This is all wrong.

As for the Announcement today..............it could be an interesting day it seems! My loins are girded Sylvs.....(must do summat about the elastic).

Cx :-D

Talking of phones and benefits..

I crawled back in bed again this morn at 10am as my eyelids started playing at"we want to close".
I just nods off and the ruddy phone goes...Its the school here....WOT has he done this time???
Oh nothing. Its just to let you know that he has been given free school meals and we have your money here for this week that you sent...I asked them to put it in the school fund as I had already allocated it and therefor it was"gone"to me .
Think they were shocked by the tone of voice they replied in to say thank you, so not many say that kind of thing I guess........Crikey that was quick..I only sent the letter to the council yesterday..!!!

I gave up and got the matchsticks out and stayed up.....So hello all.

WHAT a miserable day here too....Anyone want some more rain???Plenty spare in Sir Gar.... :-D :-D
