She was 4 a few weeks ago Dea.

I was not sure if they still use calamine but apparently they do.

It seems guidelines constantly change.

Yes, Calamine and anti-histamines are recommended - also, I believe which hazel helps.

LK

Happy Birthday to your OH

I hope he had a good day!

and yes, they do move fast ............ cancer is one of the priority operations.

our daughter was told to use

a) warm baths, and
b) anti-histamine tablets

to help ease the discomfort of chicken-pox

She spent hours in the bath!!

but did find the anti-histamine worked wonders.

Happy Birthday to R,, , Chris.. hope everything goes smoothly.

Chris: The dreaded chicken pox... what kid doesn't get them at some stage.

My eldest has a nice little dent in her forehead where she picked the scab off one...scarred for life... and she was about six... really a case of the blimmin blimmins.. and buddy nuisance as the other one (abt 2yrs) got hers two weeks later.

I had measles five times as a child and got chicken pox... must've been a spotty kid for years. I didn't get mumps until I was 8 1/2 months pregnant.

Gins

that's exactly what I got from my parents!

Persie ..... I have a nice little dent on one temple ............ easily covered by my hair!

I must have been about 6 when I got chicken-pox.

Now, of course, we are susceptible to getting shingles :-P

Morning all. Thanks Sylvs........French toast for me please.

I'm just trying to picture an 8 1/2 months pregnant lady with mumps :-0

What a sight that must have been :-D

My son has a slight mark on his face from scratching a scab off but nothing too bad.

Do they still have Chickenpox parties???

Amusing Calamine lotion anecdote.

Aged 20 I and my best mate and our respective girlfriends went on a camping holiday together to the south of France in my first car, an Austin Mini Countryman. My mates girlfriend had a very fair complexion and despite our advice insisted in sunbathing at every opportunity resulting in her suffering painful sunburn.

To try to soothe her discomfort she bought a bottle of Calamine lotion and applied it thickly to her legs and arms. In the high temperature it very quickly dried and contracted causing her even worse discomfort so she quickly decided to remove it. She found a tap and with the aid of a face flannel began to try to get rid of it. Unfortunately she chose to begin at her ankles (Well she was a blonde) and as she progressed up her leg the now liquid again Calamine ran down her leg where it promptly dried and contracted again. I must confess that the rest of us thought this hilarious and rather than showing sympathy fell about laughing.

Not nice I know but we were young. :-D

Cant scroll through to the last page so posting, to see what has been posted!

Gin,

For the past few days I have found that the quickest way to view the latest post on "Fred" has been to click on the last incarnation of "Fred" in "Find Ancestors" which brings up pages 1~10. I then click "Post Date" which brings up the latest posts but in reverse order. I then scroll down to "Add your reply" and type in my post and submit. The thread then scrolls and presents my post at the top of the page. I then click "Last post" and the last page presents with the posts in the correct chronological order.

A bit of a pain in the bum but it is better than waiting for a couple of minutes and then getting the dreaded error message. We live in hope that GR will get it sorted soon.

Haven't had any probs in getting on here :-S :-S :-S

Maybe I'm just lucky :-D :-D :-D

Not my usual placid Friday as I have been speaking to far too many telephone/broadband people. Why does it all have to be so complicated?
