Dea

my daughter, also the one and only, was 38 on March 24 :-)

I was talking to her the week before, and mentioned her upcoming birthday, and then said

"How old is it this time? 40??"

"MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUM"

you KNOW that voice :-D :-D :-D

"I'm only 38 next week!"

I think she still thinks I meant it :-D ...................... and is even more convinced that I am confused!

Young children and airplanes often just don't mix, whether you're a child-free passenger getting your seat kicked and eardrums pierced by restless or scared young ones, or the exhausted parent trying desperately to calm those same kids.

Now Canadian airline WestJet says it has the solution: kid-free cabins.

WestJet announced the new service on board select flights on Sunday.

"We've heard from many of our guests that they're tired of kids screaming and running up and down the aisle and are looking, quite simply, for some peace and quiet," Vice President of communications Richard Bartrem says in a tongue-in-cheek video posted on WestJet's website.

The video also introduces WestJet's solution for travelling with young ones: a new program called Kargo Kids, wherein children get to fly in a "special VIP" area of the plane — the cargo hold.

In the video, a WestJet counter agent helps two harried parents plunk their crying, fussy children into a so-called "travel toboggan," or cargo bin. As peaceful music plays in the background, the baby and pre-schooler are seen winding down the baggage belt. A little blonde girl with her hair in two braids waves goodbye to her parents.

"Your child will be whisked away on a magic carpet ride and your work is done," Bartrem says with a grin.

"Your child's toboggan will arrive safely with the luggage, and other kids, who will be boarding that flight."

The Kargo Kids area features a WestJet counsellor, Bartrem says, who will make sure the kids are safe and supervised.

"With plenty of toys and a state-of-the-art feed trough, your children will be able to run, play, scream and eat all they want, while you enjoy your flight in peace and quiet," Bartrem says.

Cue a shot of the same harried parents now sighing contently and leaning back in their seats, eyes shut in relaxed bliss.

"From all of us at WestJet — you're welcome," Bartrem says.

The video ends with a child in a wooly monkey toque wishing everyone a happy April Fools Day.

WestJet was founded in 1996 and flies to 76 cities in North America and the Caribbean.

:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

WestJet is renown in the travel industry for its corporate-sanctioned pranks.

In 2011, they announced a major money-saving initiative ............. filling the cabin with helium to reduce the amount of fuel uses. They issued a video announcing this, showing cabin staff welcoming passengers on board .... complete with all the voice-changing effects of helium

In 2006, the airline company, straight-faced, requested that passengers save energy during takeoff by stretching out their arms and flapping.

In 2008, the Canadian carrier supposedly had a special air travel offer............ For an extra twelve dollars, passengers would be accorded the "luxury" of fully flat sleeper cabins. Where are these sleeper cabins? Why, the overhead bins, of course. A press release issued by WestJet even has an accompanying photo of just such a sleeper cabin, already in use.

Good morning everyone

took most of yesterday (Sunday) afternoon .................. but OH managed to clean up the flood in the basement

as you may have gathered, he does most of the work ..... really is a house husband

Anyway, he put some hankies to soak in the laundry sink ...... which is in the basement.

The he put on a hot wash, and went off to church ........................

.......... completely forgetting that the hankies were still in the sink. He had taken the plug out .................. but the hankies formed a very efficient plug :-0

The room is about 26' wide and 15' deep, divided into laundry area and workshop.

About 1/4 of it got wet ....... fortunately both sides have a concrete floor

But, of course, there were cardboard boxes, etc sitting on the floor

We now have one nice clean floor .................

....... but I felt awful, having to watch him, without being able to do much to help

Just have to laugh ................

Baptist church across the street, has a LOT of grass, and a few plantings near the main door (shrubs)

For years, they have used a lawn care company.

About Wednesday last week ...... grass cut, and leaf blower used to clear cuttings from sidewalks ............ all in pouring rain

Saturday ............. work crew from one of the 3 groups that meet at the church ......... grass cut, shrubbery pruned, lawn edges done, etc etc. Plus much work inside church. They were here for 6 or 7 hours.

Right now (about 2 pm Monday) ......................... grass being mown by the lawn care company :-0 :-0 :-0

It looks shaved NOT cut :-D
