Good stories Persie......made me giggle......especially the son's reaction to his mother's picture. Still chuckling and thinking of my son...........

I know someone who stripped off whilst in the wilds of the Lake District, kept her pack on her back and had her photo taken from the back whilst she threw out her arms and and embraced the panorama.

It was posted on FB and her son was couldn't believe his eyes!!

MY son put a message on saying...."yes...xxxxx that is YOUR mother".

Had lunch out which was good and now, the day is my own.... :-D

What worries me though Cynths is how did 'your' son recognise his friends mother with such certainty when he was only seeing her, naked, from the back ??? ;-) :-D

Will it do?? Good heaven's Persie, that is a wonderful spread and I haven't a clue where to start..........thank you for all that especially as you are having a bad time with your shoulder :-D <3

Sounds as though you are a bit hassled so I will volunteer to wash up afterwards.....or, at least, load the dishwasher for you.

A lovely morning here............and our granddaughter is 14 years old today. Hope to see her later - after the Liverpool/Everton match is over. Won't get any sense out of that household till then....... :-S

If we get there and the Grand National is on, they will find me in the garden admiring the view. I cannot stand that race and refuse to watch it. I have read all the Dick Francis books and understand about horses and jockeys and the adrenalin rush etc.....but I just cannot, cannot, bear to watch it. :-( :-(

A few weeks ago, I filled in a form re having the house looked at in regards to fire prevention - and thought nothing of it.

Yesterday, I had a phone call to say that someone from the fire service will be calling round on Monday evening between 7.45pm - 9pm. to check and give advice about escape routes etc.

Fine....no problem.....except....

They will be coming in a fire engine!!! :-0

I will have to warn the neighbours not to panic or I can see we will have folk peering round curtains and standing on doorsteps........... :-)

Dea

Dea Report 14 Apr 2012 08:21

Wow Persie - that will keep us going all week, not just all day :-D :-D :-D

I thought your shoulder must be bothering you when you didn't arrive but I am very sorry to hear that I was correct :-( :-(

You mustn't worry about us - we won't starve ;-) You just get yourself all better <3 <3 <3

Now - as you have gone to all that trouble, I am going to waddle off and find my way around that food-laden table - SO much to choose from I don't know where to start :-D :-D

Happy birthday to your grand-daughter Cynths x

Well, that sounds like a waste of fire service resources doesn't it ??

I don't mean them coming to give you advice, which is extremely useful, I just mean them arriving in a fire engine !! Surely they have access to cars?

The fire engine will be effectively 'out of action' while it is sitting outside your house and may be needed for more urgent matters. If so, unless they are going to bring along the full 'team' with them, ready to respond, it would have to return to the station to pick up the fire-fighters if required for an emergency!

Sounds a little strange to me but I suppose you had better be prepared and set out enough tea and biscuits to cater for them all ;-)

Are you sure F by G hasn't put them up to it Cyns... fancy sending around a fire engine what a hoot... you could give the neighbours some burnt offerings and that would really set them thinking...

I am not that enamoured with horse racing either as in the gallops.. but I quite like watching the trotting... I remember my mother and I going once when I was about sixteen and she kept picking winners all evening but we didn't bet... she just liked the names of the horses. A chap behind us said to her, I think I should've listened to you, he went home with less than he had when he arrived.

And Happy Birthday :-) to the 14 year old.. It's amazing having teenage grandchildren Maia (17) has just flown down to Dunedin taken her best friend from College with her to meet her best friend from primary school. Esme and Maia have been friends since they were five.

I was warned that they may have to leave in case of an emergency. I thought it would just be, maybe, a retired fire officer who would call round for a chat. We used to have talks by such folk when we did our annual Volunteer training at the hospital.

Certainly wasn't expecting a full team of, possibly, hunky firemen to turn up.

Mind you, with my luck, they will probably be 'past their best'..... :-(
