Walked into the Medical Clinic at 8:40 am

No-one waiting

One lady emerged from one of the 2 rooms, holding the plaster on her arm.

No-one else in the other room

Handed over form and medical card, information entered into computer, labels printed, etc

went straight in to the room

..................... and was back out in the waiting room by 8:45 am

I've never seen it so empty!!

Mind you, I then had to wait almost 10 minutes for OH who had gone off to do something else, and 7 people came in in that time!!

Home by 9:00 am, and could have breakfast.

Dea ...........

........... we don't have appointment times to go to these clinics for blood, urine tests, xrays, ECG's. They're set up as walk-ins ............. you take a number, and wait your turn. I've never actually waited longer than 15 minutes, and that was in the middle of the day.

They're all privately run, but all the tests are free, covered by our Pharmacare (the equivalent of your NHS). Blood tests results are sent to the GP within 3-4 working days, other tests take a bit longer.

There was a huge house fire earlier this evening over on the north shore of the harbour, about 20 km or so from here.

The clouds of smoke blackened the sky all over Vancouver and south to not far from the US border (about 30 km south of here).

Pretty dramatic

It is reported as being "an incident with a barbecue and propane".

One man with injured hands, and one completely destroyed house.

That fire sounds dreadful - just shows how careful one should be with barbeques......... :-(

Hope all the poorly ones are feeling better this morning and I'm surprised that I've beaten Dea down.........unless it's grandchildren day.

Dea

Dea Report 18 May 2012 19:05

I didn't mind at all Sylvia but I got very confused. When I saw the 'light breakfast' and a brunch - I thought it must be Saturday but then I knew that I hadn't had grandson yesterday only grand-daughter and was sure I was having him today so it MUST be Friday.

Anyway, it was an unexpected luxury to have two meals today :-D :-D
