Cyn,

A humorous poem but despite everything I only take one tablet (500mg Sulphasalazine) a day. It is yellow and its purpose is to prevent a re-occurrence of Ulcerative Colitis.

The poem could however apply to a friend of mine who was diagnosed with a very serious heart problem and was forced to retire whilst still in his early forties. He is now 65 and over the years he has acquired/developed numerous other ailments which means that he now has to take tablets by the bucket load every day. He has pills to prevent something happening but those pills have side effects which mean taking other pills to counter those side effects and so on and on.

I have seen him line up as many as 14 tablets in a row which he has then swallowed with the aid of a tumbler of whisky. His attitude, which is supported by his wife, is "Live for today because tomorrow may never come". So far it seems to be working for him.

I got my smart phone for about £7 more than I am paying now. I wanted to have access to the internet whilst out and about. Daughter is sorting it out for me but, meanwhile, it is next to me on charge and I feel as though I am sitting next to an unexploded bomb!! :-0

My word, we have had some heavy rain today and odd bits of flooding too..... :-(

Jonesey, my OH takes near enough 20 pills a day....just like your friend really. Pills before food, pills after food, pills with food then, add to that the eye drops....sheeeeeesh....!! :-0 ;-) :-D :-S

Going to bed now....been a long day. Night all.

For The Fallen

With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,
England mourns for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.

Solemn the drums thrill; Death august and royal
Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres,
There is music in the midst of desolation
And a glory that shines upon our tears.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted;
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables of home;
They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
They sleep beyond England's foam.

But where our desires are and our hopes profound,
Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
To the innermost heart of their own land they are known
As the stars are known to the Night;

As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain;
As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end, they remain.

Update on Star the best case scenario is that they operate and remove the tumour but as they have to remove 2cm around it she will need a skin graft.

As her lymph nodes were swollen they decided not to put her through op today as wouldn't be any benefit if it has spread. results due by Friday at the latest.

Worst case she will need chemo at £500 a month and son never took out insurance :-(

Son is gutted his partner is in tears and everyone is upset but no decisions can be made until we get the results :-(

Oh and just to put the icing on it I have to go and get Dea's favourite test :-(

What a day .
